Fans of Home Free are called "Home Fries"....if you think Adam's harmonica was good in this song, check out their cover of "Ain't Goin Down" til the sun comes up!
only avail. at the moment on Facebook or their Patreon Worth it to do the Video rather than Just the Audio, you gotta see the boys to know who is doing what.
Songs; Clowning around, Working For a Living, Butts Medley, Hillbilly Bone. Great covers, My Church, Folsom Prison Blues, In The Blood, Country Road, Brothers In Arms, When a Man Loves a Woman, Unchained Melody, Helplessly Hoping, and Mayday, to start. I've left off a hundred, or 2. It's a very big rabbit hole…
Have a listen at 05:15 in this vid. You can hear him drop a whole octave from the verse he'd sang before. It's a sort of background rumble at that point and most people miss it.
Hillbilly bone, When a man loves a woman, Elvira, Folsom prison blues, helplessly hoping, how great thou art, mayday, sea shanty medley, butts remix, do you hear what I hear are great
I love that every reaction video I see for this song has the reviewer astounded by the first part. Home Free is truly amazing and none better than this song.
HF did "Brothers in Arms" in honor to all veterans, regardless their nationality. Not counting what happens in Ucrain. It is a great piece of music. Please read their own comments. Thank you.
Home Free sounds like they are a full band with instruments more than any other a capella group. They don’t just do covers, and have some great original music too. IMHO they are the most versatile and have the richest sound. Bass to the bone!
"Leon DeCaprio" is Adam Chance, known as Chance to avoid confusion. He's the baritone, but he covers bass when Tim Foust is singing a lead line. Chance also sings a nice tenor such as in the first lead in American Pie with Don Mclean. But he also did the funny twangy sound at the beginning and end, which sounds like a jaw harp or Jew's harp. That looks like a tiny 2 inch (5cm) metal harp body with a metal flappy thing that you pluck while you hum through the harp. Of course he used a fancy harmonic overtone singing method to produce the sound. That's where you sing a drone note but also produce moving overtones at the same time. A double resonance trick in the vocal chords and voice box area. The Hu do this on a number of songs. Using it to make a jaw harp sound is unusual. Did you notice that Tim actually dropped a fifth or maybe an octave just after his solo to cover bass chord notes?
Chance actually does that overtone singing throughout the whole song. It's there in the background. The only times it isn't there is when they all sing together in the lines that repeat what was just sung by the soloist.
You have got to watch Adam Rupp (the one who does the drums) do a solo to show everyone what he can do. It is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EanKWLUaDpg.html Your reactions are so energetic, I love watching your face light up and your eyes sparkle when you like something. Great job !
Tim Foust is one of if not the best bass in the business. He has a 5 octave range. if you want to see it in action react to his cover of "Will You Still Love Me/Stay.
Others I think you would love are "Ain't Goin' Down till the Sun Comes Up", "My Church", "Butts Medley", "Fishin' in the Dark/Boondocks" and "Blue Ain't Your Color".
Yes!! You did this song! As you said, this is generally the "introduction song" to Home Free, and an incredible showcase for all their talents. Although Chance (Adam Chance/"Leo" who goes by Chance to avoid confusion with the human percussion machine Adam Rupp) doesn't get a solo line (he does on a lot of newer songs) in this one, he is responsible for that amazing mouth harp that you heard. Wanna have some fun? Watch the "Butts Medley." Have a blast going down the rabbit hole!! 😁
I agree too! But just to make sure we can enjoy his reaction, he should put a filter on their video as it was made while they were with Sony...(copyright is their second name)
Now that you've embarked on this acapella journey, you need to try Peter Hollens. He has a crazy vocal range, and he layers his voice in recordings to create brilliant acapella performances. Try his Misty Mountains with Home Free's Tim Faust. It's on another plain.
Does it get better than this? Dunno, but they are so varied I defy you to pick a best song. They can be heartwarming (In the Blood, Brothers in Arms), funny (Workin' for a Livin', Make You Feel My Love), or just good to listen to (Mayday, Folsom Prison Blues) - and always impressive! And yes, those were all suggestions, but there are dozens more brillliant ones in each category...
Butts Remix and Country Fried Pop show their awesome sense of humor as well as many others. For sheer beauty you can't beat O Holy Night and Do you Hear What I Hear? to be truly impressed with their harmonies... Helplessly Hoping. My faves are In The Blood and Mayday. you can't go wrong with anything they do.
Wait on Mayday till you learn their names and what each guy can do. Trust us on this, we will let you know when it's time... in the meantime try "Working for a living" so much fun!
Home Free is the best--period. They are completely acapella and make all "instrumental" sounds themselves. Chance doing the jaw harp sound really sets the stage for this song's story. Tim's bass line completely grounds the harmonies and Adam's voice percussion simply cannot be beat. This performance highlights a lot of Home Free's strengths although they also handle just about any other genre amazingly❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Brother you are on the edge of the rabbit hole just jump in it's a great ride you only have 167 more videos to go 🤯 and after a while you may become a Home Fri great reaction man I just subscribed.
Every time that I listen to them I get so lost in the music that it’s easy to forget it’s all them. Even live it’s so clean. They are hands down my favorite of all the accapella groups. The songs that hit the emotional notes like Go Rest High On That Mountain or I Can’t outrun you will bring you to tears every time. Their collaborations with Lee Greenwood, The Oakridge Boys, and Don McLean (among others) are nothing short of brilliant. You will not be disappointed by anything they do.
Spin the wheel. You can pick any one if their almost 200 videos and not be disappointed. It's very hard to pick a favorite! A great shared lead and all around great song "One Man Band" might be a great place to go next. Thanks for a great reaction.
snicker- hehe You are now a HomeFry, & Pentaholic... Watch your suggestions, Hillbilly Bone is fun, but you'll love all suggestions from these 3 a cappella groups. If you do HF's "When A Man Love A Women", do me a favor and hold on to your socks- lol Your play list is about to explode! 👍👍👍👍👍
You want to really be impressed, check out "Can't Stop The Feeling". In the video, you get to see who is doing the sounds because they all do some kind of beatboxing and sounds. There are so many top notch songs they have put out. I would highly recommend "Sea Shanty Medley" done during Lockdown while they were spread out over three states. I would also recommend their latest one "Ain't Going Down" . They have audio only on their RU-vid but you HAVE to see the video. Due to licensing, they couldn't release it to RU-vid so it lives on their Facebook page. That one still blows my mind and I am a fan. Oh and keep in mind, they have a sense of humor that comes out in quite a few of their videos.
I love your reactions to my favorite a cappella group! This was the first song I heard by them, and I was hooked! If you react to Home Free, their fans, the Home Fries, will come. In droves. But we’re a pretty cool bunch 😉 Front left in the video, we have the silky smoothness of tenor Rob “the beard” Lundquist. His lead in End of the Road is a must-see. I also love him in Bless the Broken Road. Back left is baritone/bass Adam Chance, called Chance due to another Adam in the group. He took over for co-founder Chris Rupp, who left on good terms to pursue other things. Chance is the one doing the mouth harp here. I love his lead in Sea Chanty Medley, Winter Song, and Brothers in Arms - a fantastic tribute to troops and an absolute must see! Center is the high tenor, the fabulous Austin Brown. When A Man Loves a Woman. That’s all that needs to be said. Seriously. Back right is founding member Adam “freak of nature” Rupp, tenor/beatboxer/vocal percussionist. He has several good drum solos, and to see his genius for arrangement, Do You Hear What I Hear, which (in my opinion) also showcases them individually and blending as a group. In that video, you also see Chris Rupp. I highly recommend Ain’t Goin Down (Til the Sun Comes Up), which is only on Facebook due to some kind of copyright issue (but you can react to it on YT). Last, but not least, front right, basso profundo with a 5+ octave range, is Tim Foust, who is apparently part dragon. He co-leads in Brothers in Arms. I also love him in Hillbilly Bone, The Butts Remix (which should be watched for comedic value alone!), and Champagne Tastes (which he wrote). To see their amazing harmonies, How Great Thou Art, Helplessly Hoping, and (again) Brothers in Arms. I also recommend Tim’s collaboration with Peter Hollands in Misty Mountains. One tip: don’t watch Mayday until you’ve seen several videos and know the guys and their usual roles. 😉 Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole. It’s deep, but you’ll never want to escape!
I discovered them during the pandemic and fell in love. They are known for their tight harmonies. They won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013 a season after Pentatonix won. All ‘a cappella’. The beatboxer is Adam Rupp and he’s amazing. He can do drums, harmonica, castanets, bugs, all kinds of sounds with his mouth. Chance (Leo) was doing the mouth harp at the beginning and the end of the song. They can all beatbox to a degree. The bass, Tim, has a 5 octave range so he can go super low and sing up with the tenors. They sing all genres of music and also write and sing their own songs. Try Helplessly Hoping, Folsom Prison Blues, In the Blood to hear more great harmonies. Great reaction!
One of my favorites is "Mayday". All their gospel and Christmas songs are moving and superb. Even Grandma Got Run Over by a Raindeer is extremely entertaining. Thanks.
Home Free have a very varied catalogue and never seem to come up with anything less than excellent. I've been enjoying them, mainly via reactors on their journeys of discovery, for three years or so now. No sign at all of tiring of hearing these talented musicians, yet they come across as relatable as people too. Personal favourites include Auld Lang Syne, Meet in the Middle, Brothers in Arms, In the blood, Winter song and the more upbeat Working for a living and Ain't going down. They range from showing a high spirited sense of humour to seriously moving.
In my whole life I have never favored a single band or singer. But for a good year now, I can't get away from these talented guys. Home Free - these are five extraordinary talents. If you want to hear more of the fantastic harmonica sound I recommend Ain't Going Down (Til the Sun Comes up). The video is unfortunately only available on facebook but it's just awesome. I hope for more Home Free! Great reaction!
Love your reactions to Home Free. I love these guys and the great body of work they have done. Some of my favorites are, Seven Bridges Road, Take Me Home Country Roads, How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain, Helplessly Hoping, Unchained Melody and When A Man Loves A Woman. What ever you choose to listen to next can not help but blow your mind even more than they have already. So enjoy.
Hey 👋 my friend, I think you will enjoy this rabbit hole 🕳 😄 😋. My fave so far is Brothers in Arms, so appropriate for whats happening right now, it makes me cry 😢. Also check out their official video of Aint going down till the sun comes up. Thanks for the great reaction. Be safe be happy 😊 💕💯
Welcome to the House Free rabbit hole! You've only see the tip of the iceberg for these absolutely amazing men. They do all genres and their videos are beyond entertaining!
I first came across this group in the pandemic, I saw Chance and the boys singing the sea shanties and I couldn't understand why Leo DiCaprio was singing in a group. Finally I learned the truth and fell down the Home Free rabbit hole and have been over to the USA to see them live ..... Fantastic!! There are just so many songs I recommend you watch: Sea Shanties, Do You Hear What I Hear; Mayday, Blue is the colour, 9 to 5 ..... so many especially those done in the lockdown. Have fun.
These guy's are on another level, by far the best acapella group out there. Loved the reaction you're excitement is infectious. It's not a Didgeridoo it's a jaw harp.
I know how you feel ever since I first heard them on talent show they had me at get go.. best ever pure talent better than an actual band I can't get enough
HELLO! Its your friendly neighborhood Chapmonious, coming out of the lurking corner to proclaim I have been a home fry for a while now. Home Free is: Austin Brown, Rob Lundquist, Adam Rupp, Tim Foust, and Adam Chance. Tim is the god tier baritone bringing the Bass Adam Rupp is the beat Boxer Adam Chance though not featured much in this song has an amazing Voice. Austin Brown does Main Verse And Rob Lundquist does the others. SOME SONGS YOU HAVE TO REACT TO!: 1. Folsom Prison Blues 2. End of the Road 3. Sea Shanty This guys are incredibly talented and super awesome. great reaction as always my friend
You have just been introduced to the best a cappella group out there. This song blew me away when I first heard it & I was completely hooked. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.
Sea Shanty Melody, The Gambler, Folsom Prison Blues, End of the Road, Auld Lang Syne, and How Great Thou Art are among my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of their songs.
Your excitement and smile are so contagious that I find myself smiling at the end of your reaction. I’m so excited that you are all in for Home Free. You’ll love the guys.
I love your enthusiasm for Home Free....they are the best. I'm sure everyone else has given suggestions so I will just wait for the next one....you can't go wrong on any of them!!!
The craziest thing was seeing them in concert and it was mind blowing! Tim's bass shook you in your seat...I looked at my husband and said...this was the best concert I've been to AND THERE WERE NO INSTRUMENTS?!? 🤣
If you love Johnny Cash you should react to HomeFree - Folsom prison blues. If you want some more light and funny check out their Butts remix/medly, All about that bass or their cover of Blake Sheldon "Hillbillybone".
Now I really dig this band! Love everything-it’s bluesy/country sound. More please!! Wonderful reaction as usual! Hope you & your family are doing well! 😊🎵✌️
