Till this day it is the greatest experience watching a film in theaters I've had because everyone was turning up, old and young. Every single seat was taken. I've been to this movie theater countless times before but it was the first time I noticed how more than 95% of the audience was black. I had no idea how important he was to black culture and my respect for him grew. i love his music now and the funk, soul, and jazz genre. I have an obsession for it actually. @@ES2990 oh knock if off please. Many of us have been doing our best to stop this all our adult lives. I grew up in Virginia where racism was very strong at the time and interracial marriage was against the law there, and was young during the civil rights movement. Those shaped my beliefs to support blacks and people of all races. I have multi racial friends of all ethnic groups including black, middle Eastern, Native Americans and hispanic, worked with and hung out with the black basketball players in college where we'd all get together at night in the dorms to play the piano and sing (a few of them went on to play with the Harlem Globe Trotters), brought black and other friends of varying races home for dinner with my family and have interracial family members. I continue signing political petitions, support and donated money to Rev. Warnock, Stacie Abrams, Corey Booker, Mandela Barns, Val Demings and a multitude of other people there, and voted twice for Obama. When he first ran, a friend said, "look at the black man." I had to look several times because I hadn't noticed Obama was black. It starts with one person at a time. As the Dalai Lama says, Peace Begins With the Individual". You sound like you're still bitter. So what are YOU doing to make changes? Can you think outside the box or are you still nurturing your grievances? Did you vote? Do you support candidates of all races based on qualifications, not just race? if so, did you vote Republican? Or Dem? Because that makes all the difference in the world. NOW LET'S GET BACK TO THE MUSIC!!

Best song please listen. I was born in 1949 and this music was some of the first great sounds out there. Sample Motown it was all great in the 60s. The Temptations, Smokey Robenson, The Ronnettes and so many more. All the kids loved Motown.

Saw him in old Madison square garden at age 15. Opening act joe cuba and his sextet. Unbelievable. Full orchestra,9 drummers, girls in cages dancing all thru. Like seeing the Pope. People passing babies overhead of the crowd to the stage so he could touch or kiss them. No police in site but then who eould dare distespect james brown? He controlled the band and crowd and put out energy like no one else. Best concert in all my 72 years.
