No special effects needed, Tatiana is a world-class growler. She can switch between cleans, growls and screams at warpspeed. Tatiana has a one of the best voice ranges in metal today. Jinjer has a huge following. Jinjer does their best work live.
That's all her. It's a special vocal technique called false chord growling/screaming. She isn't using her vocal chords as the source but the "false chords" which sit above the actual vocal chords and extend over them to help keep food from going down the wrong way when you swallow. Singers who learn the technique learn to control those otherwise involuntary muscles to make sound which they then shape with their mouth and the rest of the vocal apparatus. Tatiana here isn't the only one who does it but arguably she's better than most. There's a lot of live in concert videos of the band on RU-vid. You can't really go wrong with any of the official live videos.
Everyone has their mind blown when Tati does that first growl. She can move between voices with such speed it boggles the mind- and here she goes from pop voice to growl to belt and back again. This is live with some modest post production on it- some lyric overlay and some pitch correction. And they were open about that way back when. When you see the band live it is even more astonishing- I Speak Astronomy, Teacher Teacher, Vortex, etc.
Great reaction! Now that you guys have officially had your faces blown off, go check out their live performances in front of an audience. Yes, that's her voice and she can go back and forth between clean and growling vocals literally mid-sentence. A good place to start would be "Perennial" (live at Wacken); Who Is Going To Be The One; and Teacher, Teacher are equally as impressive. This band is the real deal.
Welcome to Ukrainian Progressive Metalcore/groove metal! Tatiana is amazing and the boys are next level. They are a near perfect band, balanced and dynamic.
