See my comment above, when I both agree and not agree. She did better in the very last performance of the Swedish competition. Just not as powerful delivering during ECS, which I can fully understand due to nerves, and frankly, just not expecting to win a second time. XD
@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach You should do that, then I recommend that you also watch Loreen Acoustic Tattoo, one of the ways she can sing.... She plays with her voice like a violin..... Loreen sings like Celine Dion, Carola (Swede) , Whitney Houston, Beyonce.... She is definitely in that league..I haven't listened to all her performances but to SING, that's something she can do.... She's just fenomenal.....One of the kind!!
@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach 100%! Please react to more Loreen performances! Euphoria, Statements and so many more. Euphoria in Eurovision or in "Het grote songfestivalfeest" 2019
Look at the swedish performance, the national final.. It was so MUCH bigger, in any shape or form🥰 THE BREATHING and the core-strenght is everything...
Always this idiotic statement. What's so special about that she's the first woman to win the song contest twice when only one person has won it twice before? If it had been five men before, then the first female double win would be something special. Otherwise not.
She was on fire ! I do believe her "heat 4" (semi-final) performance in melodifestivalen was better because probably less stressed and also better staging and camera work. Don't hesitate to go watch that one too. Please react to Euphoria, Statements and My heart is refusing me (2013 version) live performances ♥And since you asked, it's more Lorèn than Loriiin. You can hear the pronunciation at the beginning of her heat 4 video.
@Ernest Dietrich actually, there was an activist who stopped her performance (nothing about her) and like a star Loreen performed again as nothing had happened. ❤
I think it's lovely that she e sings it slightly different every times she performs it. No big changes, but you understand she's an intuitive singer. Obviously, she knows every camera angle, but she allows herself to plqy around with the singing. And in both Stockholm and Liverpool after she already won, she does some ad-lib vocals and thanks the audience mid-singing, which I really love. ❤.
Hi, Loreen is the first female who won the Eurovision Song Contest twice. She won the ESC in 2012 with song 'Euphoria' and now with 'Tattoo'. I hope you will make a reaction for her audition in 2012. Love.
Thanks for watching Loreen. Not just a singer, ARTIST. 🎉 Melodifestivalen in Sweden is a competition between different songs. (Weeks). Winner goes to Eurovision. And yes, she won -12 Euforia. ❤. Hug from Sweden.
The melodifestivalen performance was better, mostly the scene/effects etc But her voice was even better in the eurovision winning version, she went all out at the end
I also recommend "Loreen - Tattoo (Acoustic)", it's not acostic really, but it's a really beautiful version, and I would love to hear what you think about it.
She is an incredibly talented singer and performer. She was more tired than in the qualifiers, which is understandable. I'll be a killjoy, but I consider this to be her strongest ESC tie-in song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ejU7RKmmJMQ.html
I'm not gonna lie she was my favorite this year and I'm so glad she won, but also the Eurovision was at really high level this year. Most of the songs this year were really amazing. Some of my favorites: Sweden, Spain, Estonia, Norway, Israel, France and Cyprus ❤
I love watching people who really know their stuff reacting to music; you have so many interesting things to point out! She's absolutely pushing A LOT. Her performance in Melodifestivalen and the Eurovision Semi Final were definitely better quality when it comes to the signing, but I also find it very heartwarming how much this clearly meant to her. Like, she's the kind of professional who can do amazingly no matter what and I wasn't expecting to see anything "bleed through" into her performance, and yet here she's giving it her absolute all. You can see in her body how much she builds up for the big parts. It makes the song feel very physical to me, if that makes sense.
I'm so happy the crazy RU-vid algorithm put you on top of my home page! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED YOUR VOCAL ANALYSIS! And I have watched tons. I'm a fan now. A Swedish fan. Yes, all choruses were pushed a bit, I'm guessing to control hitting the notes. You can't deny the rest was perfect. Oh... I'm Swedish. So the correct way to enunciate her name is loh-rién.
Thank you!!! I am so happy that it did!!! She is amazing! I am going to watch more of her music though, I feel this was very techno, which maybe isn't always her thing?!
And remember long days and lots of practicing in between performances, so multiple of the artists end up changing the songs from the original to make it easier to sing over and over again, as well as it doesn’t exhaust the voice as much
I saw her live last year and I was crying the whole time. The way she connects with her fans, looks right into your eyes and sings along with you is amazing. She actually stopped the show and called me cute. It's featured in many videos of the tour. My Life is complete ❤
I know about her nasal sound Her voice is also so strong. My theory is that after living for thousands of years on the Atlas mountains. To survive this thin air their bodies must change, 3000 m or more. The evolution changed the lungs, the bloodcells and more. They even needed to take in air through the nose. The evolution made it possible to sing, dance and be active. She is born in Sweden but still a berber girl from Marocko that landed here, a bit of Africa. The berber were spiritual as she is. She wants to shower us in love. Meditation is her Daily power, not Vodka. I love her much since spirituality is also my life. She cant be compared with Madonna. Aviicci felt only cold from her. Fame and fortune are not her goals. She gives herself to us. God bless her!!!! Thank you!! ❤
This song was the best regarding singer's voice and was one of the best in performance, therefore the juries were right to put it on number one spot. Cha-Cha-Cha was the best when it comes to something that you want to hear at a Club, or to have fun but had nothing regarding the vocals, at least for me. World forgets that the Eurovision is not only about performance. Rhythm, performance, vocals, clothes, dancing is all in one. But singer's voice for me should be first when it comes to jury's decision. That's what happened. Here for example... 10:20 - 10:22 You can't challenge that. no one in Eurovision 2023 couldn't at least for me. Even Norway, that was my second favourite when it comes to singer's voice.
@@Becks-and-books I wouldn't call the song itself very original, there were definitely quite a few more original ones this year, Käärijä included. Loreen had a safe pop song, and people have found like 10 songs that sound basically the same. So can't give her points for originality. The other criteria are vocal quality (Loreen clearly wins in this), performance on stage (you call Käärijä creepy, but did you see those nails? I don't think Loreen's performance was any better than quite a few other) and overall impression of the act (boring generic pop song or genre bending audience favourite?).
Many dancing while singing contestants strayed on pitch and breath from over doing or nerves. Loreen sticked to her planned moves and was in good control over breath, tone, pitch and dynamics.
I love your review. I learned about tongue and larynx position. I don't think about them much while singing but hearing you talk about it made me realize how importance it is to pay attention to it
Many outside Sweden pronounce her name like “Loriin” (this is very hard to describe in words 😂), but most swedes calls her Loreen, with a Swedish E (again, very hard to describe in words) and I think that’s her real artist name🤗 Btw, loved the video and she is just fantastic!❤
this is the 2nd performance that day, after winning, she was damn nervous, she sighs once like damn, missed that 😅 still, voice/feeling/performance-like was one of the best. It's very raw. Love it.
This is the second performance when she have win and the voice is not always perfect. She is happy and the pressure of this incredible show is decreased. This song is always in my mind during all the days since the show 😅 efficient ! Thank you for your analysis 👍
I started listening to Loreen more after Eurovision, and I was a little shocked to find out that her Tattoo performance is an outlier! She often performs with a live band which allows for much more improvisation, but obviously that's difficult to do in Eurovision
I love how your expressions are changing between laughing, confused, analysing and impressed 😂 Im not a big fan of tattoo (since my style in music is literally deathstep) but her vocals and feeling are Amazing
2023 was an awesome year for Eurovision held in my birth city of Liverpool since it wasn't safe to host in the Ukraine. I totally fell in love with this song.
This was admittedly probably her weakest vocal performance of this incredibly difficult song. She was absolutely pushing her range in ways that were more noticeable than the other times she sang it (she also seemed to do the "too-oo-ooooo" bits 100% in a tight belt/mix instead of the chest/head flip for the high note that she usually does? ...which leads me to believe she was either incredibly nervous here or there was some other issue). She resolved it for the winner's reprise, but yes, her Melodifestivalen performances were stronger. Still, such a powerhouse performance to which nobody else in ESC could come close...her dynamic range and emotiveness was superb. A well deserved (and historic!) win.
Thank you for a really interesting analysis! Hope you get well soon, you nailed even though you couldn't demonstrate everything. Fun fact, the staging and sound was MUCH better in Swedish Melodifestivalen (the winner of Melodifestivalen is the artist that will be competing in Eurovision). That was the scenography that made here an instant favourite for ESC lovers everywhere. The "sandwish press" (that's what some call the construction with the podium and a screen that rises as the act progresses) was much bigger and had a clearer picture. The ceiling of the Liverpool ESC Arena couldn't support the enormous weight (1.8 tons!) of the screen and they had to change her staging between Melodifestivalen and ESC. That's why she had a much cheaper looking staging there. But Loreen is Loreen. She already proved with Euphoria that a glamorous stage show doesn't mean much when you have raw talent. Here's how it looked from the beginning: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R7mCELuFz5I.html I admire her for her ability to move while singing with such incredible control. It has also been her thing since the first win. We are very proud of her here at home. Euphoria is my favourite ESC song of all time, I would love to hear your analysis of that song :)
Loreen is a delightful performer, but this year's winning Eurovision song sounded like it was composed by an AI: clinical, impersonal, like a copy-and-paste of all the elements that worked in other songs of the same genre. I didn't think it provoked the passion, nor the "United by music" spirit that Finland's song did. I hope to see Loreen work on more genuine, original and even slightly more "imperfect" songs in the future, her talent deserves it.
I loved your commentaries and teaching about her voice and all. Would love to hear you analysing Christina Aguilera, she has an amazing voice. My suggestion to start would be Beautiful live at CNN heroes... What a performance ❤
she did better in Semifinal or Melodifestivalen , but maybe there was so much pressure on her, everyone exepected her to win and do good and yea, she can sing way better :D
And acoustic version for that song is amazing too and she just sang homecoming liev performance at Sweden which was a great because she was only focusing in signing
Amé tu reacción, sinceramente. Me encantó como explicaste a detalle como funciona la voz, las técnicas que ella usó y fuiste describiendo vocalmente su actuación 👏🏻👏🏻
I was a little disappointed because I watched the finals not knowing anything except that Finland was one of the favourites. When Sweden came up, I was really hyped, until the song turned out to be a "can't live without you" song, which simply rubs me the wrong way. The build up is BEAUTIFUL though! I love her voice, and I will never stop admiring performers who keep their facial expressions matched with what and how they are singing. For me, the song didn't make as much of an impact as the singer. The Eurovision was a net positive though, because I got a good few good songs to add to my everyday playlist, no matter how they placed. Including this song. Thank god I can't see the nails when I only listen to the song, those things haunt my nightmares.
Very hard to keep it together hearing this song. The song is called Tattoo. It talks about saying goodbye to someone you love. This has been my life for nearly 18 months. I lost someone I deeply cared about and I have tattoos that remind me of him.
I agree with you. Tatoo is a good song and Loreen a great singer and performer and the public decided that she won and i respect it so much, but honestly i find the song a little too shouty. I have to say too that in some parts the song reminds me of "The winner takes it all", ABBA's song, and of "Frozen", MADONNA's song. But maybe I'm wrong. Kisses from Italy.
Ye I mean Tattoo in itself doesnt feel that special as a song, its just Loreen's own work and performance that takes it another level. If you listen to Spotify "offcial" version its actually less shouty, but In live performance I understand that decision because its very emotional song that she wanted to gave her all. As for public, they actually voted Käärijä and Cha Cha Cha in overwhelming numbers to win, but we shouldnt forget that Loreen still got 2nd highest amount of televotes, so its not like she won only with jury votes.
That was interesting to hear! You should check another song she competed with in the swedish Melodifestivalen (where artists try to win and get to Eurovision) called Statements. It’s INCREDIBLE!! And in swedish we pronounce it as ”Loréen” if that makes sense haha!
Sadly the Melfest staging was muuuuuch nicer but way too big and heavy to transport to Liverpool. I’d highly recommend watching that version though! I watched it live and to date it makes me cry.
The best Eurovision song so far, Sweden knows how to produce amazing stuff! I don't think it was a low budget performance at all. The stage was soo aligned with the song.
I watched the performance on the swedish qualifiers and it both sounds much better and looks A LOT better in my eyes. It sounds to me like there is a bit on the edge of some unintentional voice cracks.. Like there was some rough last couple of days or something. But the major thing is the lightning, cutting and the smaller size of the box (it looked weird to me when you are going to do these big movements but are limited.. So it looks more stiff instead.. and she is not stiff). It just doesn´t come close to the original design. And this performance is so depending on that visual factor since it´s playing on the emotion of the heart rather then the danceclub vibe which is easier to be "catchy". The lack of smoke for the lightning to hit... And so on. As a swede I was pretty bumbed out when I saw it because the whole thing was so good before. So my thoughts went from a really good chance at winning to a "there is no way we are winning"... But apperantly people and judges thought different.. Maybe I just watched the better production so many times and really liked it and therefor was more disapointed then someone watching it for the first time.. But a reporter on a big newspaper here called the new production for the eurovision (since they were not allowed to bring the original props)... Basically he said it was like the original from Wish... in other words, same thing but looked like a lot cheaper version. In my opinion the original performance is a deserved winner and it would have been nice to have a bit less doubt in peoples mind that it deserved to win when it actually won.
I agree with your reaction. Loreens best performace was in the swedish final. But then again, the scouses made her play in a little sandbox instead of an actual stage.
If there's a woman in the world who has won the Eurovision song contest twice, it's Loreen. She won the crown for the second time despite being subjected to massive sabotage and hate speech.
would be nice if you react loreens first Eurovision win Euphoria 2012 her voice is unique and vocals are great even that song and laying down is hard and emotions and effort which she shares while Performing its Magical i like those raw notes its make it so real and its Incredible how her voice capacity is her soft Voices are so beautiful like Whisper and she still handle those high powerful and notes too
Indeed, and she is doing all that while moving around. Dont know if you have seen some of her vids that show her training/preparation for performing Tattoo, but she goes everything from exercise with mask on to strict diet and everything like that just shows how professional she is and how seriously she takes her performance and her career. All while still being humble, joyful and lovely person, she even cast aside all the questions about winning/being favorite because she doesnt want that ego getting involved in her work. Just lovely person and wonderful artist (or creator as she rather calls herself) and person overall.
I don't know your opinion as a professional but I think this song is so difficult to keep perfect live, but she manages to do this while still showing emotion in every word
You should check her out in melodifestivalen, her performance there is even better. Aswell as the staging, liverpool where she performed this could not accommodate her props from her original performance in melodifestivalen.
This is a great analysis. As a non-English Speaker I had no idea how what it was called when singers are pushing them a bit, excessively getting that grainy tone. Her final performances during this night, was for me, while still very good, still not as magical as they happening during that Swedish finale competition! It was because she was so clearly holding back and that constraint of emotion! It was very powerful for me! That's what won her the role and it just felt special. While ESC also was nice, it was just lacking a bit in the nuance and I guess, just bringing on "more" might be h ow the ESC works, I just think it's also not quite right musically. Ironically, even. Edit about how to pronounce Loreen. Think: Loren+ e so no i sounds at all in Swedish. Just listen to the announcement at the Swedish Finalie: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h6x-TKgYM9k.html I think it's worth comparing the performances actually. The the reprisal that even better: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4gEFQA7alFc.html I wished she felt as on ease as giving this performance to the European audience as well!
So this was the Eurovision performance. And then did a lot of weird changes with her voice. But the Melfest performance we a tiny it better. You should probably check that out! :D
the song is nice, but i will say that the audience/jury discrepancy really makes it ring hollow for me - euphoria is a banger tho she is a very competent and worthy artist, but i really do think käärijä should have won because of the audience participation alone
i would pay a million dollars to see anyone trying to perform this song better than her. cause yeah no, wont happen. would love to see Zoe perform it too! maybe record the dance and sing it! id love to see it ^^ this is loreen style, so id love to see others perform it!
I believe it's Laur-een in English but Laur-ee-an in Swedish. Half way through the British TV coverage they started using the Swedish pronunciation. I've no idea why.
Hey beautiful, you have to check out another Swedish artist/group who are extremely musical and absolutely incredible, Jonah, Henrik, and Aron in Dirty Loops. check for example Breakdown or World on fire, will take your breath away. Best regards, Johnny.
