Every year here in Seattle, there is a Layne Staley tribute concert. I go to them. His mom sings this song and everyone sings with her. Everyone cries. She’ll light you a candle and they show a slideshow of his pics. It’s sad, but healing in a way.
The lead singer struggled with heroin addiction and eventually passed from it. This whole album is a glimpse into his struggle. He realizes he is losing the battle and almost tries to talk to himself in many of these songs.

Okaaaay! Touching on a favorite time and singer of mine. Lead singer of Alice In Chains, guitarist Pearl Jam as well. But the Seattle scene was very tight and they all played together at some point. Temple Of The Dog is another collaboration of Seattle guys. Spiritually I love this song. From Temple of the Dog you should check out Hunger Strike!!!! 👏🤟🍻 Also, being that these Seattle guys killed themselves, approach it lightly with Lulu. This time period was VERY emotional.

Yes, this was Layne from Alice In Chains’ side project/supergroup, after AIC broke up for about six months. What happened was Layne relapsed and showed up to band practice high, which outraged the rest of the group, and it splintered. So he teamed up with Pearl Jam’s lead guitarist, and the bassist and drummer from other Seattle bands. They only released a lone studio album, but Layne later said he was the most satisfied with that record.
