Madonna- made a point to push the boundaries as to what is acceptable in society. Specifically, she defended gay community, and sexual expression back in the 90’s. Madonna being a big supporter of black and gay culture tipped it over into the mainstream of pop music of the 90s and beyond. At a time when racism and homophobia was rife Madonna gave gay culture a voice, especially when HIV ( AIDS ) was a big stigma at the time, alot of younger people do not realise Madonna pathed the way, for many other artists and was and still is a massive gay icon. Vogue was Number 1 all over the world. when she was mentioning names in the middle of the song she was saying the names of very old actresses and actors from the golden era of hollywood, i think they have all died now. But i think if they was around they would of been quite honored to be mentioned. She will always be the Queen of pop music, and a gay icon.
