The music back then told you just enough and still had enough mystery left for you to imagine. Unlike today’s music, they just sing it and tell it with no purpose.
I will always say that Old School R&B Soul/Funk is the greatest music that has been created on this earth! Now I have to show love to Jazz, and Blues! Black music that we created as a people! Pure Greatness🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is BABYMAKING MUSIC you right Ashley back then families use to have 15 kids in the house they took that scripture of GOD telling people Be fruitful and multiply that generation to that ran to the mountain top with it LOL.
Saw him live with the Delfonics. His baritone blends great with William Hart's falsetto. Delfonics/Major Harris music is unlike others in that less can be much much more! Put on Delfonics For the Love I Gave and you'll see what This part of Philly Soul is all about.
This is how it was back then. Some songs were for the clubs, dancing and hangin' with the crowd. Other songs were intimate and solely for a guy and his girl being alone, doing what they do. BOTH were BANGERS!! I know today they sing about sex, but ZERO romantic about it. Back in the day it brought couples closer together.
Since the 1980 season for me. I was 9 and had to choose a team, and being from AZ we didn’t an NFL team at the time. Family were Cowboys fans…..I had to be the rebel and go to the other conference. Loved their color scheme and found out about Raider Nation as a teenager. Never looked back. Been a rough 20+ years tho. And I’ve always hated the Chiefs the most and it’s only worse now that a whole new generation loves them and don’t realize it took them 50 years.
@@josephwinslow7613 Exactly!!!!!!! He was one of the backup’s . Major replaced Randy Cain who left the group, and helped form the group “blue magic”…… The Harts brother formed the group.
When 3 or 4 big corporations bought up all the record labels, they created a monopoly on what you hear now. Music like this is just not given a chance in the market. It's about money, not music. If you can find this kind of music anywhere, live or media, support it also . Nothing against new school. but I'm 68. So.....😊
I was born 1968 so I grew up listening to all the older folks listening to this very sexxxy much grown up music from the 60's the times was definitely much different for one black entertainers were out to prove to USA 🇺🇸 America we were all worth much more than the 5/8 of a man we were given credit 💔 for we had live bands real musicians the best singers. We dominated the music industry just like we do in sports today !Unfortunately, we will not hear this type music played on our radio stations nowhere these days ! Like I said in the beginning I grew up on this love music & still love it today in 2024.
The people from the 1970's had a serious 'hat game'. Besides Major Harris, I remember Tamara 'Cleopatra Jones' Dobson had a SERIOUS hat game. You just reminded me of a Marlena Shaw cover of the Roberta Flack song "Feel Like Makin' Love" song. On that one she explains what our parents did to get us here.
I'm just going to say it! If you can't get some loving after playing this then it's a damn shame! This is a Panty Dropper and Baby Making Music! I didn't understand the lyrics in this song when I was a kid! My grown relatives and the WGCI, WBMX would play this all the time! Smoove Grooves, Slow Jam and Dusty's 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!
What this young lady dont realize is that everyone of that generation was Slow Dancing to these songs in every club... Lights would dim and that glass disco era ball would be hit with a beam which would fill the club with what resembled a dark sky filled with ✨ stars... The DJ nooth would take request for a string of slow jams while couples would grind to these slow jams... Many girls got pregnant in that era because of this. But yes , it all disappeared when HIP HOP & WRAP appeared and TRUE MUSIC came to an end..! I lived it all from beginning to end and it was truly a magical time and endless talent..♥
Ashley a lot of time you have the volume down low on your songs. I have my laptop hooked up to my Tv and a stereo. And the sounds comes off still on low. You are 1:11 into this video and its very low. I'm so happy you are learning what your elders learn about love and being love and playing with love also. We love you young lady. Keep on learning and growing. It will help you throughout your life. God Bless.
I've said it before. I'll say it again. You need to be CAREFUL. With some of this music 🎶 I'm telling you. You gonna START something. You gonna ser something off But you'll find out. When you find out. I'm just sayin. Your husband is listening 🎧 😳👉🏾
This type of music is still out there today..... you just have to search for it. Ro James, October London, Yebba, PJ Morton, Tank, Coco Jones, Leon Thomas, Snoh Aalegra.
Sound effects...your face...hilarious! Great reaction. Btw, you need to go back and listen to the extended version of "Do Me, Baby". Prince did it right.
As to the history of R&B, while there were those known for their baby making songs, many artists always had at least one slow jam per album. For example you reacted to several Lakeside slow jams, when they were really known for their dance music. Prince always had at least one slow jam per album. The SOS band is another example. I’m not sure how often that is even contemplated today. Especially when today’s performers employ so much electronic assistance for their voices.
In my opinion, the reason music has been in decline is complex. 1, 1980s and the Reagan Administration defunding Music and Arts programs in public schools throughout the US. That's the beginning of fewer kids learning real music. Then you have the 90s, when 2 things happened. Technology made it easier for less talented people to simulate music by pressing buttons. This allowed some to become music producers with less musical skills and more tech skills to create music. (See P. Diddy) Then these producers wanted to be stars themselves so instead of a producer finding let's say the Beatles, the lesser talented producer made himself the star. His kids and other wealthy people get in on it too. These people are and have been limited in their ability to create original melodies. But they dominate popular music because the money is behind them. The best songs that are written today you will never hear because all the crap out there is backed by an industry that will never reverse this terrible trend in current popular so-called music.
It unfortunate, but I talk to alot of people and I came to the conclusion 3rd wave feminist corrupted relationships. They told women they don't need a traditional man and they can do everything on there own. So music is now reflecting those norms. They killed chivalry
It was “abandoned” for the same reason that bell-bottomed pants were abandoned. For the same reason platform shoes were abandoned. For the same reason that the blues was abandoned. It’s called “change”. And every generation has its “change agents” in the form of youth. Nonetheless, people will always look far and wide to lay blame at someone else’s door-when they don’t wish to entertain the possibility that: they might have aided and abetted in that change occuring. Old folks, (or, people who think like old folks) specialize in this. Their time is past. They just refuse to leave the stage.
Funny u say that because most to all the people talking bout the 3 wave and the effects it has on our music today are young folk not old MGTOW, REDPILL, and PASSPORT BROS are all young movements not old and there connect the music to tradition value to the our modern culture not old. @@meknottyou3998
R&B is officially dead. When that happened then this type of slow jam "Love Music" or what's now being called "Simp R&B Music" dies right along with it.
Hi there, love to hear ur reactions about old school music, but talk to anyone in ur family old enough to give u some insight on old school music. And ask them about the down home blues in the South, best outdoor parties ever. Betty Wright was a sample.😀
It began to change "after" Rappers Delight by Sugar Hill Gang in 1979 - That was the beginning of Rap/Hip Hop. Music began to progress and never really looked back. With the exception of R&B Lovers.
How in the hell can you not know this song are you that young or are you a black person of foreign decent. This music is gone because we told stories in our music and the music industry didn't like it. Like Marvin Gayes: mercy mercy me, or Curtis Mayfields: pusher man. And con funk shun's : i promise you love, the isley Brothers: choosey lover. And last but not least from Chicago "windy city live" : i still love you baby. OneWay: I'm lost inside of you featuring AL Hudson. Ebo: i'd rather be by myself, OneWay: don't stop ever loving me. The Enchantments: something strange is happening you don't beling to me anymore it seems, and I'm all alone in my dreams. My bad have fun girl and i wish you success.
IT’s everything people we’re different ok old school was just that old school classy clean it was a little of everything touch of beauty soulful it’s hard to put into worlds the feeing was different emotions spiritually it’s in the blood ok inside I’m sorry I’m just going on trying to explain this and it’s the moments Of it you had to be there to feel This words and love ❤❤❤❤❤I’m crying cause it’s gone never going to come back it’s gone forever wow
"King Osirus" ->Please Tell Me Yes, and Don't Say, No 'Honey Not Tonite? I Need To Have You Next To Me, In More Ways Than One. ->I Need Your Love So Desperately, and Only You Can Set Me Free..
i would like to see Ashley look at this performence from James Brown at the Apollo, its a medley of songs starting with: "It's a Man's Man's Man's World", "Lost Someone", "Bewildered" and "When a Man Loves a Woman". The link : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_NkvCNTlDRU.html
Come on now (somebody's Grandpa or Uncle vibes). Not during that classic era. This was an extremely popular song. Step up and ask your Grand's, Uncles, Aunties, they'll tell ya. Totally different music vibe than what you listen to today. Were you born when this HIT was a hit?
Hi Ms. Ashley, Sounds as if this couple could not wait.. Question; did U heard the Lady in the 1st. verse say 'Yes", I did.. Listen closely.. I have another Question: why the frown?? ♠Mr.G..
U said it Banned!! u was right, music was hijacked away from R&B cause of it's frequency and substance content. R&B was the voice of out cries just as Hip Hop was.
No, he is the father of the last mayor of Atlanta "Keisha Lance Bottoms"... Can I request a song and ur reaction of course " Peabo Bryson" the song is She's a Woman...thx
The music industry is CHEAP!!! If they can produce "something" where you don't need a band or a few instruments; where you can "fix" someone's voice who has just a "little" talent and do this on a dime, then they will do it!!!😮😮 Back in the.day, even those "bigwigs" who robbed from the talented artists, appreciated good music!!! These guys today could could less sbout the artistry (the talent)😮. If they can get people to buy the junk, they see no need to make it good!!!!
Well. To tell you the truth, the ahhh let me say the Supremacists did what ever they could do to discount Soul & R&B Music. They did such a good job of it that we got suckered into ditching Soul & R&B too. I have always loved Soul and R&B and I was so disappointed that 'the baby' got thrown out with the bath water, instead of just existing in the same space as it's replacement.
Love this song and your reaction to it. The shift in music happened when producers started relying on synthetic music, beats, samples and the rap that wasn't necessarily uplifting. The musicians would actually record with actual violins, sax, etc. All that went away. But thanks to students of music like you, some version of more authentic music might return. 🎉
I agree, most music today leave no room for pure desire and intimacy between 2 people. BUT, lets not forget about Bruno Mars and Anderson Pakk with Silk Sonic. Awesome reaction here!
The simple reasons for these songs not bring sung nowadays everything is too commercial size for everyone and most of it is fake mo feelings no passion whatsoever but God to RU-vid those connoisseur of music can get ♥ their heart desires of mudic
