Actually if you watch the video closely you will see the mom run out the mom survived but they give the image of her burning up in the house because they’re shooting it from the back of the house not the front of the house
it's actually a Christian message. Notice Amazing Grace at the beginning of the video. "Rolling the Stone" refers to the burial and resurrection Jesus. The stone was rolled away from His empty tomb which made Mary Magdalene think his body had been moved but he appeared to her in his resurrected form. "Rolling the Stone" has thus become a Metaphor for coming back from Death, defeating death etc. "Let the Guilty Pay". How do we judge who is guilty, after death Jesus is the judge and there is no escaping his judgement the way many can on Earth. "Let The Weak Be Strong, Let The Wrong Be Wrong" has strong connections to the Beatitudes and Sermon on the Mount.

i like the part with the clowns and how it showed that to everyone else it was just harmless fun, funny even, but to her it was a painful reminder of her every day reality.
I am a survivor of domestic abuse. My husband , at the time, just had a serious anger issue and I was his punching bag. I was 16 and he was 21. He would hit me and then say he was sorry and I would believe him. He would love me and treat me like a queen....until the next time. I would not tell anyone because I thought I loved him and he loved me. I did not want to lose him. After a couple years of abuse.....oh, by the way, he also started to abuse our baby girl by shaking her when she would cry and throw her into her bed.........after a couple years, he got put in prison for some bad things he did and I took advantage of that and divorced him. I never let another man ever touch me like that and I made sure my daughter was NEVER abused again. That was almost 47 years ago and I can say that both she and I are happily married to two great guys and we proudly tell people that we are survivors, and not victims!!
I am a DV survivor x 2. The first wasn't too hard to get away from. The second one...I was trapped for a long time until I could run. I can't stand the "well why doesn't she/he just leave" comments because it's obvious that being deliberately ignorant on this subject is the priority. Try reading! Stop the victim shaming...those that do are part of the reason why we can't leave. Abusers don't change...that's a hard one for people to understand...control is their power...they don't give that up. Bones and bruises heal faster than words...don't need physical injuries to suffer for decades over what you were convinced about yourself...worthless, ugly, stupid...it never ends. The "I'll kill you if you leave" actually does happen so unless you can provide a safe place until that SOB dies, just shut up. End of rant.
Had a stepfather that worked for the railroad. My mother knew the dangers so she literally was trapped until I left for college. Then she had the option of running and focusing on her safety, which I commend her for. Later on, he used his job to chase a woman across FOUR STATES. But yea, I wholly agree.
You're too right. My mama didn't dare file for a divorce from her second mistake until she hooked up with a trucker who got us and the animals out of the state. For a long time only my granny knew where we'd gone.
My understanding is that Martina was too close to the house while she was singing and ended up getting burned, but she knew she only had a limited number of "takes" while it burned so she put the pain of the burns into her singing. I had a foster child once, a toddler, who had come from a rather violent background. Our family was watching TV, NCIS or something similar, and two of the characters got into a fist fight. I looked over at the toddler and turned off the show. The poor babe was cowering in a corner shaking with silent sobs. I've never before encountered a child who could cry so silently. It broke my heart and while the child was with us, we were very careful with what we watched. The scene with this little girl reacting to the clowns in the parade always brings this moment to mind.

Both parents died in the fire, started by the wife, after sending the little girl to town to see the parade, rather than letting her witness more violence. While little girl was gone to town, mom burned down the house killing herself and abusive husband both. That's why she says the line about being sent to the county home.
The implication is definitely that the mom set the fire. I always assumed the mom died too but you had me questioning it lol. Child Taken to the county home implies she no longer has parents, but if mom was taken into custody same would happen It reminds me of a true story that was really sad. Man named Josef Barsi was an abusive drunk that constantly threatened to kill his wife and daughter. Police got involved but mom dropped the complaint. CPS got involved after the daughter had an emotional breakdown and was referred to child psychiatrist. They dropped the case when mom promised to leave the dad. She didn’t. Dad shot his 10 year old daughter in her bed, then his wife as she came running to the sound. 2 days later he stet the bodies and house on fire. Then short himself His daughter was Judith Barsi, a prolific child actress in the 80’s., dozens of commercials, tv appearances, and major voice roles in “Land Before Time” and “All Dogs aGo to Heaven.”

My favorite songs from Martina McBride are That’s Me, Independence Day, That Wasn’t Me, Wrong Again, and Still Holding On (duet with Clint Black). She has amazing range and power. You can feel her emotions every time she sings with that golden voice.
This song was written about the true life story of Francine Hughes which became a book and a movie entitled "The Burning Bed" with Farrah Fawcett. Francine was found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. As a writer, we sometimes begin our story with one single truth, and then build upon it. This song is like that. The true story was somewhat different with Francine found not guilty. She rounded up her children, put them all in the car; and then, went back in the house and lit her husband's bed on fire. She then drove to the police department before turning herself in...
Thank you I'm a DV survivor I left that relationship after 3 years and having miscarriage. I'm a single mom of a son and daughter and they know I don't put up with that or SA I'm also a survivor of that but I don't use that excuse that will not define the woman I am. Anybody being abused get out now, don't let abuser tell you how sorry they are or that it won't happen again or that it's your fault, value,love and respect yourself. I was the little girl. Only, somehow God made me my mom's voice. Her protector. He started putting her in the hospital before i was born. I saw some horrific shyte. From the time I was around 8, I started getting in the middle and really dressing down my Dad; mirroring certain behaviors(intentionally) like breaking things after he did to show him how horrible he was. By some miracle, my Dad never hit us. And by another miracle, he just up and stopped. Just like that, after one of my huge flip outs when I was 11. He kept drinking, flipping out and destroying our stuff, however he stopped hurting her. I carried a lot of effed up baggage until my mid 30's. It's horrible. But the song is right. In 2008, I was living with someone who I thought was great. Bought me small things, cooked for me, looked after me...until one day I said something or looked at him funny or whatever. I got hit hard in the face. I'm 5' 10" and weighed about 220 at the time. I could defend myself, but in that second, I felt worthless. I remembered what my mom told me. One time is one times too many. I got to a neighbors, called 911, had him arrested. He called from jail and asked if I could come get him, said he's never going to do it again, etc. I said "nope", had the locks changed (it was my place), and threw all of his shit on the lawn. I see this guy around town once in a blue moon. I laugh, because I've been married for 8 years to a guy who is actually great and would rather die than abuse me in any way.
I got out of an abusive marriage, with 4 children. after 8 years it was enough! after 3 yrs, I married a man that God sent to me! He loved my children like his own son, who came to live with us!! 47 yrs, and now he is with Jesus, but a great marriage, after a bad one is the best revenge to me!

Also domestic abuse in general. I was mentally, verbally, emotionally tonally, and financially abused in my past and that leaves scars you cannot see and I still struggle at times years later and sadly again happened with a more recent ex.

Love the NF Clouds hoodie! The first time I heard this song, when I was younger, I had no idea how deep the lyrics were, I thought it was just a patriotic song. Also, completely agree bout littering, people are too lazy and inconsiderate. The same goes for leaving shopping carts in the middle of parking lots, just put them where they're supposed to go. Another emotional song dealing with domestic violence is titled the little girl by John Micheal Montgomery. Another is from a rock trio called Rush titled everyday glory. I hate bullies and wish one day we can finally eliminate people like that. Whether it's bullying a woman, kid, or just somebody smaller or outnumbered. We NEED to eliminate this problem.

This really did happen and Danville Michigan in 1977 a woman that was being severely abused by are living ex-husband she got sick and tired of it while he was asleep she died into the bed she poured a flammable liquid around him and burn him alive she gathered up a kids went to the police station and turned herself in she went into the police station screaming I did it I did it by the time the police got there the whole house was ingulfed in flames
