Mostruosa.
At that time when you saw a microphone without a cord you knew it was playback. This performance was not live, i'm sorry, but she was a great singer indeed! Saw her live once ☺
I play violin and one time I was chosen to play in orchestra for Antonella Ruggiero concert in theatre in parma. Everything live, no autotune. Wondeful voice, one of the best ever and....... wonderful person
Well, maybe I was there! I probably attended that concert! Later I found myself in the same pizzeria where she and Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, who had also attended the concert, were having dinner
@@studiocalder818 She invited us to eat pizza, all together. We were very honored for this invitation but we had to refuse as we had to go back home as the morning after I had rehearsal for another concert
Momento non è così. Trovami una cantante oggi all'altezza della Ruggero? No facciamo abbastanza cagare musicalmente. A parte i musicisti. Tra il pop ora c'è solo merda.
@@rainsound3543 I don't wanna start a debate with someone too young and naive or maybe just stupid. I said few...Spagna Raf e Sabrina with Matia the ones I was referring to.
When this song came out in 1986 I was just blown away. It´s so perfectly produced and the powerful voice is incredible. And now 37 years later it has still the same power. Greetings from Germany!
Best Italian voice of all times (Mina included). Mattia Bazar ... Nothing to say, one of the best 90 sound ever. Really proud to be Italian ... sometime ...
1985. "Matia" meaning "matta" (= fool) in Genova's dialect; "Bazar" is the same of "bazaar". An excellent Italian band with a lead vocals outside the box, literally beyond ❤
@@RehnStillnightOfficial Esatto.
Unici!!❤
Thank you for choosing an Italian song. her voice, her crescendo, her tonal length is UN-BELIEVABLE!!! Out of this world! This song is an Evergreen! Loooove it!!! Got goose-bumps!!!!
In my opinion, Antonella Ruggiero, if she had been born in the USA and had had one of the major US record companies behind her, today she would be celebrated as the best pop music singer in history. Whitney Houston has become a legend; Antonella Ruggiero was more talented.
Not so much a matter of where she was born, rather of the irrational and short sighted aversion for Italian artists to sing in English, especially up until the early 2000s. Heck at some point we were actually translating foreign songs into Italian, for cryin' out loud. When some singers from Italy DID sing in English, they often encountered international success - Spagna was very popular in Europe (to the point most Italian people didn't even know she was indeed Italian), Elisa was quite well known shortly after her bedut, Alexia was well known all over the world in the 90s...bloody hell, SABRINA SALERNO made it to the charts in the UK! Just think about this: how likely would have been for a global phenomenon like ABBA to be as popular as they got to be...if they only ever sang in Swedish? My point exactly. Italy had a lot of talent and flamboyance in the 1970s and 80s, starting with Matia Bazar/Antonella Ruggiero or even Donatella Rettore - Madonna before Madonna was a thing; All basically left untapped by hick-town mentality agents, who only cared about sales in Glabro Sulle Natiche (No, not a real town...I'll leave the transaltion to whomever would be curious) and could never conceive London, Paris or New York.
The way they _sneak_ the key change on us at the end is magical. You don't realize what's happening until you're already a few bars into the new key and Antonella suddenly switches the harmony vocal into a LEAD and hits that amazing "TI SENTO!" in the higher key... *Good GOD!!!* Goosebumps every time! ♥
Well said! The big climax. One of the best songs ever made. And not just her voice, the same passion is in the music as well. Italians in the 80's had their way of getting the best heart-felt music out of their synthesizers and sequencers.
Her soprano voice is one of the most interesting of italian music; there are singers with even greater vocal extension (the late Giuni Russo was amazing), but she really had something more
You said something absolutely right… beyond the vocal range, (you mentioned Russo, technically crazy, but it didn't give me the creeps…) she had that something that made her unique and special.
I was going to mention Giuni as well. Both of them are probably the best voices ever and not only in Italy. I am Albanian but I grew up listening to the Italian music which I love to this day.
Greetings from Denmark ☺Yeah it gives a high tingling zizzling sensation in all the cells 🥰 I just discovered iit some days and have hit the repeat butoon over and over since 😊 I just love the energy of the music and the band and her heavenly voice so much - it truly gave me a lift. Im sure They were all heaven sent to us 🥰
I'm glad you liked it, for me it's one of Matia Bazar's most beautiful songs, along with these: - Cavallo Bianco - Vacanze Romane - C'è tutto un mondo intorno - Elettrochoc Greetings from Italy ;)
Thanks. One of the best Italian songs ever. I have goosebumps every single time! And Antonella Ruggiero is great, as a singer and as a person (I have been for eight years a neighbour of her parents)! 😊
omg i'm so excited ppl are discovering ICONIC songs in italian songs. antonella ruggiero is basically a human musical instruments, her voice is amazing. thank you for this video! please listen also to vacanze romane. thanks for this video I hope your audience appreciated it!
My teacher plays with her (still today), and I had the occasion to see her live a couple of times. She was not performing Matia Bazar's songs as she left the band long time ago, and she is now a solo artist. Well, all I can say is that live she is even more astonishing, because as everybody is saying there was not autotune back then and that it is really what she can sing. I think still today as she is 70. She just has that natural talent and that's it.
Her group was one of the best groups in Italy in the 80s. I grew up listening to her, going to the clubs, and hearing her music. Vacanze romane, also an amazing song.
Thank you Sarah for posting this good memory. As an italian 'veteran' listener of many music genres, this is one of my favorite top pop italian songs, especially this version with the voice of Antonella Ruggiero (her brother another group's component), who after a while left the group to undertake a soloist career. She is accounted as having an outstanding vocal extension. Remarkable is also her performing another Matia Bazar's song 'Vacanze Romane', a song reminiscent of the decadence of the so-called roman 'dolce vita' of the (19)60s. Recently the keyboard player sadly passed away.
I'm really happy that you chose this song and that you appreciate it so much. It's nice to see that even if you come from a different culture and don't speak Italian, you felt so many emotions with this piece. That's the magic of music. And finally, I'm happy when for once a non-English song takes center stage.
I'm Italian and it's been 38 years since I heard it again now it still gives me shivers!!! great Antonella Ruggero, one of the most powerful Italian voices!! one of the iconic songs in Italy of the 80s!! wow
Italian music has had the best female vocalists in the World, starting from the great Mina, Antonella Ruggeri, Giuni Russo, Anna Oxa, Marcella, and so on. Back then, there was no lip singing, but real singing. Our artists were and still are famous because they all did sing live, and their voices were not studio edited.
I love Sarah's reaction when she hear her singing an already extremely difficult part in an higher key. Antonella Ruggero is one of the best singer here in Italy, I saw her live a couple of times and she's out of this world.
I'm quite envious... What an emotion would be to hear her for the first time again... ❤ "Light and heavy at the same time" it's the perfect description for Antonella's voice...
Undoubtedly one of the best songs to come out of the 80s in terms of new wave/electronic dance music. But it transcends its roots almost effortlessly through the incredible and powerful voice of Antonella Ruggiero. It is one of the classic pieces of music of that era and stands proud among its contemporaries. Even now, decades later, you can feel the energy and emotion flowing through its veins.
I met Antonella Ruggiero 7 years ago in a concert and she was still incredible, she sang this song too and was amazingly her voice and power! I met her before the concert in the back stage and she is a very special woman, she is an awesome person.
Yes Dear. They are Matia Bazar and she is Antonella Ruggiero. One of our most magical Italian voices. "I feel you" is one of my all time favorite songs and I suggest you translate the lyrics, because that's amazing too
Antonella Ruggiero is one of the most beautiful Italian voices, when you have time to listen to Giuni Russo with “Morirò d’amore” or Pino Mango with “Bella d’estate” or the great Mia Martini with “Minuetto”… and there would be many others… thanks for listening to our music too 🇮🇹
For real a gifted singer, perfectly matching the beauty of the song, composed together with the other members of the band. "Ti sento" is amazing, an evergreen! Thank you so much for posting and appreciating ❤
It's very nice to hear a foreign artist praising Antonella Ruggiero's voice. As a kid, I went crazy hearing it. She thrilled me and gave me strength and courage as her voice were petrol. Thank you Sarah
Ho ancora i brividi dall'86 😉 Synthpop perfetto. Still got the chills for this since '86 😉 Perfect synthpop. No need to comment on her voice: one just listens and melts down, that's it! There's also an English version they cut at the time: I Feel You, which is what Ti sento means.
Antonella Ruggiero (the VOICE) is pure amazement and power. She is still one of the better worldwide female voice. I've been listening to her voice for many years and I'm still mesmerized by her incredible skill! Thank you very much for your reaction, kisses from Rome💚💛🧡
Absolutely! Antonella Ruggiero is a singer with a remarkable voice, characterized by a wide vocal range and a remarkable expressive power. Her voice is often described as "mezzo-soprano", with the ability to play both the lower, enveloping notes typical of a mezzo-soprano, and higher, more powerful notes. In her career, Antonella has shown that she can reach high and crystalline notes with agility, even reaching surprising high notes. Her vocal range ranges from lower pitches, such as the low register, to higher pitches, such as the high register, thus creating an eclectic and engaging range of sounds. Her ability to interpret pieces of different musical genres, from light music to pop and opera, has helped to consolidate her reputation as one of the most versatile and difficult to interpret voices in the Italian musical scene. Furthermore, her vocal power is combined with an intense and passionate delivery, which adds a distinctive and emotional touch to her performances. This mix of technical skills and emotional abilities has made Antonella Ruggiero a true icon of Italian music and has earned her a loyal following over the years.
You have to listen the track "Solo tu" of the same italian Band. Antonella Ruggiero has a heavenly voice and she is one of the best italian singer of all time.
You're delightful yourself! Thanks for your reaction to a singer who isn't just magnificent, but also kind and humble: I wrote her a private message via Facebook last year and I got a really sweet reply! (she's 70 years old now and is still active!). Love from Italy
I used to listen to this song with my older sister back in the 80s, among other songs by Matia Bazar, and I still have chills, especially at the changing in tonality towards the end. I think Antonella Ruggero is one of the best Italian singer ever!
Antonella Ruggeri was considered “the best pop voice” in the 80’s/90’s. Matia Bazaar has so many beautiful songs! Try to listen VACANZE ROMANE! She is 70 years old now and still has one of the most angelic voice ever!
Great reaction, thanks Sarah😊!! Matia was the nickname of the lead vocalist Antonella Ruggiero. Another vocalist and chorister but mainly guitarist was Carlo Marrale.👍🔥🔝💯
