This is one of the all time best Nightwish performances. It blows my mind - such beauty and power.

I think like 95% or so is written/composed by Tuomas, the dude on the keys! He's awesome, the way he can make people feel emotions and connect to songs/music/lyrics it's insane!!!! And he's such a humble and down-to-earth dude, from what I can tell from interviews and documentaries. And the whole band just is so sensitive, like in the sense of they're connected to their feelings and are able to send it out to the world (if that makes sense) Gonna see Foor live on her solo tour next month and I'm beyond excited!!!!😍🤩😍

Yes, Floor should be known by everyone. It's an absolute shame that she isn't. She's a million times more talented, skilled, and versatile than the majority of singers that everyone knows. At least here in the US.

Floor has said that this is one of the more challenging songs for her to sing. A Tarja era song, from the 2002 album, Century Child, which was the first record with Marko. Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) is the primary songwriter and composer , 90-95% of the songs. Fans like to call him the metal Mozart. Marko has done a few lyrics and some music, Emppu has co-written some music as well. Yep, Marko has an awesome voice. He sang lead on a few as well. To see that, try the cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes from 2005 Helsinki (End of an Era), The Islander from Tampere 2015, or While Your Lips Are Still Red from Wembley 2015.

One of my favourite songs for hearing what Marko can really do is their 2005 live version of High Hopes (pre-Floor) in tribute to Pink Floyd. It's a must see performance.

Two things from your reaction. Neither Marko or the drummer are with the band performing and really no one to replace his voice. You say she goes from soft to screaming though I would argue she goes from soft to belting - not screaming.

Absolutely underrated, the whole band is underrated, even though they are actually the best symphonic metal band.

I am so glad someone gives a shout out to Jukka the drummer. He kills it in every single song in this concert.

If you want to hear more of Markos voice you can listen to Northern Kings a projekt with five Finish male metal vocalists that do covers of pop songs, Nightwish also have a song called Islander there Marko is the lead singer and floor is background singer.

Marko, the bassist/secondary vocalist has said that when Floor joined the band he finally no longer needed to worry about overpowering the lead singer. Given hos voice... Holy crap...

All I can say is if you ever come across a time machine please take me back to see this show live it's the best live performance I've ever encountered. Drummer (I believe Yuka) and Bass (Marko) are amazing at this show. The guitarist (Maybe Empu)? And all the band bring it, just sounds to good to be love the sound is so huge!!

Well...At that time in 2013, this song was the most challenging vocal piece for Floor (believe it or not). And now, this song is not only in Nightwish set list (Current tour), but in Floor's Solo Concert, that was in Amsterdam, as well (I still have to specify the set list for the Floor's upcoming solo tour, but one thing is certain, Floor loves this song) . I heard this song "Live" last year, and even without Marko, Floor did his parts beautifully and this song IS forever beautiful still on this day ! And the master of this magic is: Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘

I totally agree with your comment about Floor needs to be better known. Unfortunately in the US and some what here in Canada if it isn’t pop or rap this style of music gets little attention. For those of us in the know and who are constantly searching out great music from other countries we are blessed to be able to come across bands like Nightwish and singers like Floor and Marko.

You're right Floor and Marko are amazing, but metal is not mainstream music so most people have no idea what they're missing out on. Floor has a non-metal solo album out, I'll see her concert coming Thursday, I just hope it's not all sweet sweet, I like her singing with a little grit and edge, we'll see. You've only seen things from Wacken, time to go to Wembley 2015. Either Shudder before the beautiful or 7 days to the Wolves. Both songs have everything you want, pace, lyrics, F+M harmonies, breakdowns and in one a keyboard-guitar duel. It doesnt get much better than that

Hi JohnReavesLive, You are right, Marco and Floor are equal in singing. Marco once sayed, with the prvious two singers, he always had to hold back on his voice stength/power, but now Floor is the singer he does nog have to do that, he can use his full voice strengh/power as Floor can compete with his voice.

Tuomas, the keyboards man write and composes 99% of their music. Once you listen to Nightwish more and more, you will notice that his songs tell a "Story!!" Tuomas is an actual genius when it comes to composing Nightwish's music! As for your next song....try "Storytime".... the drummer, Jukka, has a nice solo in the song! Oh...as you venture farther into their music, you will notice that the drummer changes. Jukka suffers from chronic insomina, and it got to where he had that he couldn't drum anymore. As someone who had it along with severe sleep apnea, and was getting less than 20 minutes of R.E.M. Sleep....which was causing me to hallucinate while I was awake!

Marko left Nightwish 2 years ago sadly. He and Floor surely were an... otherworldy duo. Tuomas - whose abilities as a composers are obvious by now - had two of the most talented vocalists in Metal at his disposal for nearly a decade. He used that window of opportunity well.

You said it John. Floor should be world-renowned for her amazing vocal abilities. Some singers a great at what they do, but few are great at almost everything. Tuomas was pouring his heart out to Tarja in this song and my man cried lots of times whenever Tarja sang this. There's a version from the End of an Era DVD on yt as well of you are interested in that version. This is one of those songs Floor deff made it her own as well.

Floor is very good but, if you really want to get goosebumps, you have to make a list of old songs (up to 2005) and listen to them all in Tarja's voice... then you'll get goosebumps...

Sadly this version of Nighwish is no more with the loss of Marko. I was lucky enough to see them here in Chicago at the very small Aragon Ballroom in 2018. Floor is one of if not the best vocalist in music. However she was so much better singing with Marko. I guess he has his own valid reasons for leaving the band and i wish him well. But for me it ain’t the same. Call me greedy but personally I want the full Nightwish back and I can’t settle for less.
