drivers license is about her ex, joshua bassett, who she acted with in high school musical. he taught her how to drive which is where the name and theme comes from. in one of his songs he said that they weren’t perfect, which is why she said “I know we weren’t perfect...” and in another one of his songs he said he would wait forever for her (bc shes 17 and he was 19) which explains why she said that he said “forever”. they ended up breaking up and he quickly moved on and got with Sabrina carpenter (the blonde girl she speaks of in the beginning) leaving her heart broken. nobody rlly knows the full story tho :/ ps: the cast reacted rlly well to Olivias song and hyped her up, but they didn’t rlly do anything when joshua made his song, leaving ppl to suspect he cheated or did something wrong
