The megaphone is a prop. I heard this live at their concert and it sounds the same! They are amazing! No matter what you listen to by them, you won’t be disappointed!
@@GOTGames They are playing in May in the UK! I am going to the 4th May! Check you see tickets, you might even get in the pit!!! Might see ya there! (Edit autocucumber changed May to March!)
"OMG" wait till you hear "Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel. Such power in there version! I am really loving your reactions. You have so many more PTX songs to hear. Boy are you going to have fun!!!
And the prayer, or can you feel the love tonight, or new rules mashup or... or.. As much as I loooove the old classic Pentatonix, there are so many great newer ones as well! He has soooo much to look forward to!
@@hernameispekka_Rebecca Omg I know. That's why he is going to have so much fun listening to PTX. All of their songs are so so good. I only mentioned the one was my introduction to this group. I listen to all their songs and enjoy every single tune, not just the covers but their originals too; which are awesome!
They held off doing this song because they were afraid they couldn't do it justice. When they finally did this song, I was greatly surprised. As a, practically, life long Queen fan, I am glad they did this version!
Just love this group! They are awesome. Was in an Acapella group in High School, so I am quite in love with Acapella music. It's so great that the recommendation for the Grammy's opened up for Acapella Groups to be allowed to compete for the Grammy Award. Pentatonix never disappoints. Big fan. Love them they are so on point in every song I have listened to them sing. Can't wait to see them in Alabama at the BJCC. ❤ the group they to me are spectacular in every way.!
A tip to help you get around the copyright problem: try putting a semi-transparent filter or photo over the screen in screen area. Should help you cut down on pauses if that’s what you’d like to do. Great reactions BTW.
I can see that you are quickly becoming a Penta-holic,,, Welcome to the club! I am also a Home Fry (Home Free fan) and really enjoy their acapella music too. I highly encourage you to "spread it around" and check Home Free and Voiceplay out. You will NOT be disappointed.
There is a [behind the Scenes] - Bohemian Rhapsody - Pentatonix video... way more than just one take, but all in one night.. and they explain the couch...
It doesn't get mentioned much, but I love their cover of "Cheerleader." Their harmonies are super tight, and they look like they are having the best time ever. Another one is an original "Sing." The video is all about their fans. They even did a modified version of this for a National Football League commercial. You can probably find that one on line as well.
Definitely two of the best "we're having so much fun" videos!! Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy is fun to watch as well as vocally mind blowing - they won a Grammy for that one. And for something focused more on the vocals and less on the production, their cover of Gold is Mitch slaptacular 😵
Having been a Pentaholic since 2011 when they first performed on the Sing Off, my absolute FAVORITE thing to do is watch other people fall in love with them. It allows me to re-experience it through the eyes (ears) of someone new and it makes me so happy to see these dumbfounding reactions.
Please, please, please do their cover of “Sound of Silence” next!!! Or “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy”. Both are fantastic, the second got them a second Grammy! Love your genuine reactions to them!!! ❤️
@@GOTGames I was just as shocked to stumble across your beautiful eyes....as you were hearing PTX for the first time.... Indeed give Sound of Silence a listen!
Did you know that Scott, Mitch and Kirsten all grew up together all through school. They started sing in school choir together and found their friendship in a small Texas, USA town that was not kind to differences. The couch is on a road in Californian US in the middle of the night. Watch the behind the scenes.
Keep going down this rabbit hole! You won’t be sorry! Some of their best videos: - Bohemian Rhapsody✅ - Sound of Silence - Can You Feel The Love Tonight - Daft Punk✅ - 90s Dance Medley - Imagine
Yes, Mitch Grassi is the main lead on this song. Kevin Olusola's drums were so good that you stop noticing they aren't real drums and just enjoy the ride. Since you mentioned Imagine Dragons, you should try their cover of Radioactive. There are a couple cool surprises in that one.
Another great reaction. You keep talking about Imagine Dragons and how they remind you of them. You need to check out their cover of Radioactive featuring Lindsay Sterling. Kevin the beatboxer is Cello boxing while playing his cello named Beyonce. Simply amazing and talented bunch of people. Here's the link for the video. Enjoy and keep the reactions coming ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aE2GCa-_nyU.html
Brian May posted this on his social media with the single word message of "ENJOY!" He also stated this was the best cover of the song he has ever heard. The stars at the end is a acknowledgement of his PHD in Astrophysics and the shooting stars is a memorial to the four members of Queen who have passed on. The falling on the couch was a shoutout to Queen's Sheer Heart Attack album.
There only ever were 4 members of Queen, and only Freddie Mercury has passed on, so that's just wrong. Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon are still very much alive.
I think you are ready to react to “Aha!” Singapore. It was recorded on a cell phone and is pretty distorted but for the Mitch lovers, it is a must see. He is on fire!! Also, Avi (low voice, bearded ) blows the speakers. You might want to install a seatbelt on your chair!
If you're ready for Aha/Singapore I just want to add, that Kevin (the beatboxer) is on the stage when the song starts. In the opening he is just putting his cello away. And it was filmed by an obvious fan of Mitch 😅.
For a group with only five individuals, they have a HUGE sound. I think part of it is that everyone in the group can cover at least two vocal ranges. They're also adept at placing their breaths so that you never hear any gaps in the sound. In "The Sing Off" they competed with 30-member collegiate groups and Pentatonix sounded just as big.
Never apologize for pausing. It's a reaction after all. We're here to hear your opinions on the music/videos. 🙌 If anyone complains about you pausing. I would probably tell them to f@#* off and just go watch the original video. 😁
The couch is very symbolic. They started their Career sitting in that set up on a couch singing songs on their youtube channel after their record label dumped them and this was the last song they were doing with Avi so they start on the couch and end on the couch.
Sound of silence, Amazing grace, Mad world, The prayer, Sing, Be my eyes, Dreams, break my heart, blinding lights, 90s dance medley, come along, can you feel the love tonight are some of my favorites.
❣ **THERE ARE LITERALLY NO WORDS IN MY ENGLISH VOCABULARY, THAT CAN DESCRIBE THIS GROUP!!!** ❣ I have also come to the conclusion, that Mitch is an Alien, from the planet of WTF 🙃 😊🙃 I truly love how Pentatonix will put their own spin on a song, yet still manage to keep the integrity & respect the original artist. ❣❣❣
Take a quick listen to the original beforehand (even just 30 seconds) so you know what they did with it. It’s INCREDIBLE. Be prepared for Mitch and all his incredible vocal acrobatics!
Their cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" is another wonderful show of their talent, and you get to here the beatboxer (Kevin) sing. Just note, anything you react to prior to 2018 will be with this bass, Avi Kaplan. After 2018, the bass will be Matt Sallee. Both are wonderful. Avi is more classic, Matt more pop. If do plan to react to a song you've never heard before (especially their cover of Kiiara's "Gold") please listen to the original first so you can revel in their upgrade.
@@zipadoodlebug7124 I've probably watched Imagine (either the original or a reaction to it) about 50 times, I still cry every time. And I've heard the song probably about a hundred times more (just the song, no video), and it still makes me cry. It's just such a great version of the song. But I love Beatles and John Lennon songs sung by other people. I'm not a fan of The Beatles, and I think John Lennon was a great writer, but a terrible vocalist.
They have such a variety. They did a whole series on "Evolution of...". Their collaboration with Dolly Parton- Jolene- won them a Grammy as did their version of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Other fans include their cover of "No" and their original "Love Again"
the BEST thing abotut Pentatonix, is what you hear in the videos and what you hear on the albums - is EXACTLY what they sound like when they sing live. They don't record anything they can't replicate live and make it sound the same. They are INCREDIBLE to watch live.
I recommend to hear their newest member of the group, who replaced the bearded guy after he left the group amicably. The sound of silence or amazing Grace are good ones to hear him for the first time.
Another beautiful cover that they do is “Say Something” by Christina Aguilera and A great big World. Another commentor mentioned to put a transparent filter over the video to beat the copyright gremlins. That has worked very well for other Pentatonix reviewers. Other reviewers have mentioned that they have disputed the copyright and RU-vid eventually releases the video.
I vote yes for the filter. It would mean less pauses and be a whole lot less distracting. I can't imagine that it's easy to react to a music video if you constantly have to interrupt it.
In regards to you saying they’re having the best time: I’m a violinist and when you’re playing with a group and whatever you’re doing together just suddenly clicks and every part of it is working it’s like you become part of the music; you’re playing it, but at that point it’s playing itself too and you can almost just chill while it’s happening and it’s the most amazing and connected feeling I’ve ever experienced.
Definitely react to their cover of Imagine when you get the chance! Really inspiring message, they also have many "evolution of" medleys that they have done since the start of their time that are incredible. Also there's a behind the scenes to answer some of your questions about the video if you ever want to watch that, either as a reaction or in your free time!
I've seen them do this LIVE, and it's all one take, and no backing tracks at all. Only difference live is that there are about 20,000 fans singing along!! I am SO enjoying your reactions!!
12:15 the headache is the joy joy joy rushing to your head. I've been to several of the concerts and YES they really do sound like this and YES I get the joy joy joy rush too
The sound is recorded in the studio - in one take (I believe they record 4 x 1 take recordings - then choose the best). The video is done in scenes all in one night outdoors and they were rushing at the end to get it done before sunrise!! There is a behind the scenes video which is worth a watch.
That's not true. The 4x1 take is just for their evolution videos. A video like this is recorded separately and in segments again and again. And layered a bit. But they do perform this very very well live on tour so they can for sure perform it as intended.
You can see when Kirstin jumps on the couch for the Mamma Mia section, the sun is coming up behind her, so that was obviously one of the last takes of the filming night.
"Mary Did You Know" will blow your mind, both for the exquisite harmonies and the heavenly solos that showcase the voices of each member of the group, including beatboxer Kevin. "Imagine" is another one that showcases each member's voice, while also communicating a powerful message. If that one doesn't bring you to tears, nothing will. 😂 "The Sound of Silence" is also a must-hear.
FYI PTX has a ton of Christmas songs, for me i can hear them all the time it doesn't matter a time in a year, could be any time.. try with " "Carols of Bells" dec 2021 performance Under the stars, just flawless 😌.
I’m afraid they are turning into a Christmas time group, like Trans Siberian Orchestra. I think they have enough holiday songs and need to keep branching to more covers or really get original pieces written for them.
Yay! I love this version so much. If you love Mitch's voice, he and Scott do music as a Duo called SuperFruit and they did a cover of "Rise" by Katy Perry with three other amazing singers in support of LGBTQ in the wake of hate crimes. One of the most moving songs and the VOICES, omg... You should check that out for sure.
Pentatonix has done "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. They collaborated with a dancing violinist, Lindsey Sterling. When they collaborate with her, then Kevin, the beatboxer will play his Cello. So not A Capella, but awesome anyways.
They have a behind-the-scenes video of the making of their 2021 Christmas album, Evergreen. It shows us how they work on each song, how they work together, how they choose what the sound is going to be. It's fascinating and also can help your brain believe that it's really just them :D
2:22 in video when Avi hits that first low note. He has like a four/five octave range. Listen to' "any way the wind blows" 5:35 > He starts low "any" and several octaves later "blows".
There’s still tons of songs to pick from. Not exactly the season, but Little Drummer Boy is amazing. Say Something will pull your heart out and, most likely, Sound of Silence will, as well. Truly enjoying your joy to this incredible group of talent. Best of luck on the continued success of your channel, good sir. 😊
Sugar Plum Fairy for a great Mitch high note. Or youtube video "aha pentatonix singapore the star vista".. that specific video where Mitch really gets into it.
Infrequently noted by reactors, but very impressive, is their vocalization of the arpegiated chords played by Freddie on the piano. Pentatonix sings these precisely on pitch and precisely rhythmically. So perfect that very few remark on how hard that is. And it is supremely hard.
Your enthusiasm is so infections and I agree with everything you said. Phenomenal! Their cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” would be a good one to do next. Thanks for posting.
Imagine is wonderful, moving, emotional. Another fave is from their original Sing Off competition Dog Days Are Over. It’s mind-blowing for so many reasons. The way they set Mitch up for a solo moment makes you want to cry, it’s so beautiful. And the energy that Scott brings to it (despite being sick that day) is truly impressive. But the extra treat you will rarely see in any of their performances is Bass Avi doing his throat singing right in the beginning of the song. That’s a whole other category of amazingness. Dog Days. Look for it. 😍
You should really check out 'Mary did you know', 'La la latch' , and ' Aha! live at the star vista singapore' by them. These are my personal favourites but i think you'll enjoy them as much as i did too. Much love to you and your channel, you are amazing !
Kevin, the black guy, is a very talented beat boxer, vocalist, and chello player. Avi is from California, USA. He left the group in 2017. He's now done a few albums on his own❤❤❤
This is a studio recording and I feel sure each segment must have been recorded separately. I have read in the past that they will record songs (or segments) a couple of times and then choose the best ones for the official videos. That said, they have done this song live in concert and I don’t believe Queen ever did.
Watch the behind the scenes video of this. It literally took all night to finish. They were racing against sunrise to get it finished. They had several technical issues, but the end result was amazing as usual.
Bohemiam Rhapsody: They took at least 5 years to decide the song was ready until they could do it justice. Justice Done!!!😌 The couch was basically a nod to how they started, where they usually do their covers before and upload them in youtube... the couch moving off representing their successes and comes back to where they began, that is the reason why the video ended up to where it started as well. The stars paying homage to Bryan May(Queen's lead guitarist) cause he has a PhD in Astrophysics.. 😉 This video was filmed outside, check out the "Behind the scenes Bohemian Rhapsody Pentatonix": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q8ugJnIG_Lk.html When the VM was posted, Bryan May shared the video of them on Facebook and Twitter, apreciating the fact that PTX stay true to the song without trying to emulate Queen. 😏Nice right! BTW check this out: (side by side) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hPonmwPQ9CQ.html It prooves how flawless they are 🙈.
Don't worry, us Pentaholics are well used to the pausing in these kinds of videos - there's a reason they're sometimes known as 'Pause-a-tonix Reaction videos!' And when the reactions are as good as yours, it just makes it even better.
Their work ethic and need for every detail to be perfect after so many years is what amazes me. I mean, think how many individual artists and groups fell apart into a life of too many substances and fighting out their problems in the press. And here are these guys, a decade of videos and live performances around the world, still surprising us with their immense talent and flawless delivery.
Oooh, if you're on a "getting too impressed by ptx" binge, you should listen to Scott covering "I should tell your mama on you" and immediately after listen to his song Lose Us with Rozzi!
Love Pentatonix! So glad you enjoy listening to them as well! I know it's easy to just focus on the lead at the time - goodness knows it's always incredible, no matter who is taking the lead at the time - I've found I have to listen to their songs several times, just to appreciate what's happening in the 'background' - that's what (in my humble opinion) makes them great, the intricate back up to the lead, not just the bass and percussion, but the vocals filling the space and enhancing the song. So Good! Every time I listen to a song, or watch a reaction, I always hear just a little bit more of what is going on. They are amazing. Great comment about how they always look like they are enjoying what they are doing and having a blast - it really does come through in the music!
Mitch's voice is indeed one of the amazing things about Pentatonix. He's a phenom. Scott, Mitch and KIrsta have been singing together since grade-school. They dug up Avi Kaplan (original bass) and Kevin Olosula (the insane beat-boxer) when they wanted to compete on the Sing-off.
For a song 'in the feels', check out their version of John Lennon's "Imagine". For a good laugh, check out Superfruit, a ptx spin-off by Scott and Mitch. Their Frozen-medley is hilarious.
My recommendations: Sugar plum fairy: never except classical music to sound so interesting. Can you feel the love tonight: just incredible. Defying gravity - superfruit (mitch and scott): they did it for fun and it's the best to show their talent.
Actually, I prefer the Frozen performance by Super Fruit feat. Kirstin Maldonado.... and always watch Super Fruit through the credits because they sometimes put bloopers on the end that are incredible.
I love all their songs, and you have to check them all out because they're all so different. "Mary did you know" and all of their Christmas songs are amazing also....
As someone who has been singing Barbershop Baritone, my ears and eyes never had any conflict or confusion. The talent of each member is beyond compare. I still say the last two chords are the most incredible progression. You hear the chord resolves at the end, but it does so in three steps. Mitch comes in after the penultimate chord begins. The others rotate into the resolve, and then Mitch raises his voice by a very precise 1/64th of a tone. Unreal
We pentaholics don’t mind the pauses, we get that you have to pause. I love that you are so enthusiastic about PTX. The secret is …. 🤫 they are all aliens! Can we have sound of silence next please!
For some really smooth and early looks (2013), check out "Little Drummer Boy". You can appreciate the evolution of this group and the raw talent evident in the beginning and where it is headed.
Listen Pentatonix 8s almost a spiritual experience. Carol of Bells is the first one I started listening uninterruptedly! After that Sound of Silence and Amazing Grace. You keep reacting to them I keep following you!
