When you reacted to Daft Punk, you said you could dance to them. You need to react to their 90s Dance Medley. If you liked Evolution of Music, check out Evolution of Michael Jackson. For more of the religious music, you can’t go wrong with Amazing Grace and The Prayer. Want something upbeat, I recommend Sing.
Like 1:46-55 46 And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; 49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. 50 And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; 52 he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; 53 he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, 55 as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”
PTX sings a lot of Christmas music and a lot of it is religious, I think to honor maybe Kevin's religious background and religious beliefs. (And Matt's like in Amazing Grace ❤) I mean Avi is Jewish, brought up in the traditional Jewish faith. His brother lives in Jerusalem. Yet he was out there smiling and gleefully singing about Jesus and Christmas. I know that when Matt joined the group, he's very devout. I don't know much about the faith of Kirstie, Mitch and Scott. I do know that Kirstie is Christian. Another little tidbit of information: the cave that you love so much that they're singing in happens to be the original Batman cave from 1969 series starring Adam West. Not that you needed to know that or anything but I thought you might like to LOL ✌❤😎
@@michaelwduffy Another factoid you might like. The cave is "Bronson Cave" and is located in (the massive) Griffith Park. The cave is approximately one mile ("as the crow flies") from the famous "Hollywood" sign. :)
As a Jew, I have also sung Christian religious music, both Christmas carols at school and in Girl Scouts, and when I was in art and music camp, which was held on the campus of a Catholic college, so we always did a concert for the nuns who stayed over the summer. Music is music, and faith can be a beautiful thing. Avi was gleeful because he loves music, and the music was beautiful.
Michael, I enjoy your reactions very much-especially when you get all excited and breathless about a really good song. I want to address a question you asked during and after this video, about whether or not Mary knew who her son was, and what it all meant. In the gospel of Luke, in chapter 2, we’re told that Mary was visited by the angel Gabriel. I’m sure she was a little startled, as we all would be! But in verses 30-33 the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” So, although Mary may not have fully understood all of the implications, complications, and ramifications of what she was about to experience, she did indeed know who her son really was, and what He was going to do.
You are so right. She did not fully understand what His message was all about till after His crucifixion. Only then did she start going out teaching His words. Jesus had 4 brothers and 2 sisters that did not keep on close contact with Him.
This is a classic Christmas song & growing up I always loved hearing it, but PTX put a bit of a kick to it, & now their version is my favorite! Speaking of the cave, I'm not sure if they just chose it for the aesthetics, but actually it could be correct for Jesus' birth! Because that part of the world used cave tombs for burial, most people think that's all they used them for. In reality they also used them as natural barns rather than waste more resources building a structure. Since wild animals naturally would seek shelter from cold & storms in caves, those with land containing caves made use of them for their animals. In the story of Jesus' birth, when Joseph & Mary arrive at his relatives' place & it's already packed, they go searching among neighbors further & further until finally someone says their inn (technically the original translates to "guest rooms", but the King James has a lot of translation mistakes) is full too, but there's space among their animals if the couple is desperate for shelter right then. Researchers have determined that at that time in the Bethlehem area there were many who still used the natural caves for their livestock, & so it's entirely possible the manger Jesus used as his 1st crib was inside a cave rather than a man-made structure as depicted in all those Nativity sets people decorate with at Christmas. We will likely never know for sure as none of the early Christians thought it important to ask when asking of his background, so his exact birthplace was never noted in any book added to the bible. But my preacher said that it would actually be great symbolism just like the 1st gifts given to him by the Magi (expensive herbs used for burial). Being humbly born in a cave & then buried in one would take his life full circle. Interesting thought, right?
You're so right. Every time I hear them. I feel so good and happy. I love Pentatonix, and They are so good live. I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl it was the best concert I'd ever been to. All you felt was so much positivity and everyone having a good time. I loved it. God willing, I can go again in Sept. Have a great day. Can't wait to see your next Pentatonix reaction.
😮 I'm a devout atheist, but this is one of my favorites of their songs. From just a purely musical standpoint. They're such an amazingly diverse group, and how they get along with one another as a family and even if some of their religious affiliations maybe against Some of the othes sexual preferences, they don't care because they love one another. Which is how it should be everywhere.
@@casperbetz1949 how so? Considering Christian views on homosexuality? You should read comments from Christians reacting to ptx. Numerous comments were negative and how the Christian members of the group arent true Christians because they condone homosexuality. The usual Christian nonsense. Where is that murica? That's religion, not nationality. Are you maybe confused?
Thanks for a great reaction! This was written by a Christian singer comedian named Mark Lowery. He said he hwas itting at breakfast and started wiritn questions he wanted to ask Mary if he could meet her.
Michael, this song was written by Mark Lowry. Below he explains a little about it. PTX version is of course amazing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-smt3kkHHNO0.html
Kiwi 🥝....... Yo dude! Great reaction!! Love watching PTX reactions. Glad you enjoyed the song. As in answer to your question...she knew. Not sure exactly where it is in the Bible but it is there. Hey...what's up with the Mayo behind you on the couch? Anyway, thanks again for what you do!! Sending you love from Texas I recommend "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" as your next PTX song.
Great reaction! When I think about the idea of kissing the face of God, I always have an emotional reaction. Mary was a boss, she knew who He is,and what He was going to do She was told by an angel. She may not have understood at the time His birth, the He would do miracles, but I imagine she suspected it the first time He looked at her with patience in his eyes probably at about a year old, and said, “Now mother, please calm down!”
All except except Avi (the bass in the beanie) are known to be Christians. Avi is from a family with a Jewish dad and a Christian mom. I think he was raised more Jewish, but his family celebrates Hanukkah and Christmas. Avi's replacement Matt is also Christian.
The doctrine of the coming of a Messiah was first spoken by God in Genesis chapter four, and has been taught, spoken of, and a progressive revelation has been recorded throughout the entire Old Testament. Since Mary’ family was Judaean, and the Law of Moses demanded every man from boyhood onward be taught the Law, the Prophets and the Ketuvim (the other writings like Psalms, Proverbs, etc.), Mary would know the scriptures, being exposed by her parents, her Synagogue, and family’s yearly visits to the Temple in Jerusalem, as well as also being visited by an Angel, telling her what was going to happen. So did she know her son was the son of God? Did she have a somewhat understanding of the role of the Messiah of Israel, and savior of all mankind? Yes, of course she knew what what it meant. What she had to experience was the how of what God would do for His people and the world. Nothing could have truly prepared her for her son’s future, but she did know and have access to all the Old Testament presented concerning the primary purpose of God’s giving His Word to all people.
It's a matter of taste I suppose. The first music I heard at home was when my dad brought home a stereo and 2 albums; one was George Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue & An American In Paris and the other was a Dean Martin album. Roy Orbison had new music on the radio and The Beatles got knocked out of 1st place on the Billboard Top 100 by Frank Sinatra. Given a choice, I would prefer to hear Christmas songs, or any other songs, sung by Julie Andrews or Judy Garland ... or The Everly Brothers, Paul Anka, Peter & Gordon, Sinatra, Andy Williams or Dino, even The Monkees. Sorry, but hyper auto tuned selections that sound like juvenile robots just isn't my cup of tea, or rocks glass of J.D.
I realize it’s been 8 months since you posted this but I’m going to comment anyway. This song was written by a very devout Christian - Mark Lowry - who was singing at that time with a gospel group The Gaithers. I don’t think Mark knew if Mary knew those things but I know he, like us, wonders. He just happened to be the one to write a beautiful song about it - quite a few years ago. I don’t know how “religious” each of these members are but I do know they all have been gifted by God with the voices of angels and the talent to make music of Heaven. I will share that I pray for them because I know how evil the entertainment business can be. Thank you for the beautiful reaction. I love it when someone feels like I do about certain music. You were spot on. Only I’d like to be sitting at a beach with waves listening rather than a quiet still lake. Great reaction! 🙏🎶❤️
The lyrics were written over 30 years ago by Mark Lowry. He spent many years with the Gaither Vocal Band. There's a video of another acapella group called Voctave and Mark is singing this with them. It is worth your time to watch it; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uaRpeMT1tjQ.html
I very much enjoyed your joyful reaction and keen insight into this song! No one can top Pentatonix on what they do. They truly are a gift from God. Keep doing what you’re doing, and continue to be a bright light in this world! We need more people like you! ❤
Hallelujah has like 700million lus. It's so beautiful. Also, Avi the basso profundo is solo now and amazing. Change on the Rise and b/w video of I'm only getting started to start then All is well 7 layer sessions and When I'm a fool live at Sunset Sound with Shooter Jennings his producer. You won't be disappointed. I'll be happy to subscribe and look forward to more reactions to both artists. Great job.
This is a wonderful performance from this team. Always gives me chills. Suggestion...watch the Voctave version with the song writer. It will give you a whole other perspective.
Avi, the bass and second soloist is Jewish raised more in line with Christianity. Kevin, the beatboxer/black was raised 7th day Adventist. The other three are what I would call heathen though Kirsti was raised Catholic. Avi left the group in 2017 after being with them for 6 years and became a solo singer, songwriter Here is a sneak peak into one of his pieces to see if you like him. What a wonderful reaction to this beautiful song. If my life wasn't frozen I would go out on my dock and dip my toes and revel in the glory of all that we have. I am not religious in any way but for me, I would like to think that Mary did not know, He was a blessing to all who believed. Please keep your great reactions to PTX coming.
