Cracked, Can’t Sleep Love, and Water are all originals. This is the best version of Can’t Sleep Love. The studio version does not have the rap and solo by Mitch, which IMO makes the song so sassy. Love your reactions. 💕💕

So who can fill a stadium in Tokyo, perform mostly original material without instruments and be so popular that part of their concert is showed on Tokyo MTV? PTX in a class by themselves ❤️❤️❤️

I’m an OG Pentaholic and “Water” is my favorite. The word is “ethereal.”

POPSPRING is a Japanese music festival that centers around Western music and music artists that have made an impact on both world music charts and Japan music charts. I'm pretty sure these were the only songs they sung. Here we get to see Kirstin singing her own song! All of these songs can be found on their CD simply called Pentatonix with their original music.

If you like EDM style, you should react to their original, Love Again. It was done around their Daft Punk era. Wild makeup and sound. Mitch takes the lead but with heavy bass and percussion. I think you would like it.

Kirstie wrote the song Water along with song writer Audra Mae. Kevin added the beats and percussion which Kirstie has said changed it from her original "bubbly imaging" to this which was exactly where she wanted it to go. It is one of my favorite Kirstie songs. 😎

I saw them in concert in 2016, and when they did this one my friends and I were blown away. The combination of Kirstie's lead, everyone's supporting parts and the incredible visual backdrop were wonderful. When Avi hit those bass notes at the same time the water drops hit, the whole arena shook! Another of my favorite Kirstie leads is Rather Be.

Kirstin is my favorite lyric writer of the group. She co-wrote Water.

Water is so beautiful, Kirstie's crystal clear, pure toned lyrics combined with Mitch's repeating motif (Idk if it's an arpeggio, it seems like it should be, but IDK enough about cords to say for sure...what I do know is that it's wild how long he can keep it going for and it's so perfect every time)... is just otherworldly, or ethereal, as another commentor said. You might enjoy Be My Eyes, which is another Kirstin original. Personally, I find this version of Can't Sleep Love to be the best, there are 2 other versions: the original studio version that didn't have the rap, and then the version with the rap by Tink. No offence to Tink, but Mitch just does it better imo. Unfortunately, I think they only have live versions of this one on YT, so I can't add it to my Spotify playlist. The original version is great, but that sassy Mitch rap just takes it to the next level. As for Cracked, I love it, I think Scott does it a little different every time, I've seen various different live versions and I feel like he always adds a little something different, when they do the mash up version with Natural Disaster it's supreme, though.

These songs are so damn good, I'm glad they made original material. Also, Scott's hair is pretty much lifelong goals.

You should watch another live performance. It's called AHA The Star Vista. Avi breaks the sound system and Mitch breaks the sound barrier.

"Water" is my favorite track off their first originals album "Pentatonix". It doesn't have an "Official video", but this Popspring performance serves nicely in its place because of the high production values as it's produced by MTV and not just a fan-shot video on a cellphone.

With you, you can always tell when you're feeling it! Those comments of "That's nice!" or "I really like that!" shows your sincere reaction and how much you're enjoying a song! Love that! Cracked, Can't Sleep Love, and Water are all originals of PTX. They are such talented writers. Can't Sleep Love studio version doesn't have Mitch's little solo section in it, just when they do it live. ☹They make songs that don't sound like typical acapella. Pentaholics have tried getting PTX played on the radio but they only seem to want to play their songs at Christmas time. Very disappointing. You will probably love their original called Love Again! I love that this showcases how good they are live - they come to life on the stage, I love seeing their smiles and 'bounces' as they sing! I can't wait to see them in concert (hopefully!!). I have their albums playing all the time.

On someone's phone, but Avi and Mitch hit it outta the ballpark. Supposedly Mitch was suffering from jet lag and downed 2 red bulls😅. Needless to say it kicked in.

You definitely need to check out more of their original songs! Be My Eyes, Happy Now, Coffee in Bed - they have so many good ones, but those are a few of my recent favourites!

Hence you get just the right amount of mix among vocals and percussion. Pentatonix is quite popular and well loved in Japan. They have a love affair lol. Can't Sleep Love has two music videos, one without the rap done by Mitch and one with rap performed by Tink. Water is a Kirstin composition. Ptx also has Perfume Medley, a medley of songs of Perfume, a Japanese girl group

"Water" is my favorite too. If you like that EDM sound you will probably like a lot of their original songs. The three here are all from their 2015 self-titled originals album (there is an extended version with three covers and the Tink version of "Can't Sleep Love"). All the members wrote or co-wrote songs and they also brought in experienced pop songwriters / producers as co-writers for all the originals. Their second originals album "The Lucky Ones" came out about a year ago and has more vocal editing / effects. There was also an EP of additional songs for "The Lucky Ones" that came out later last year. I must admit that I have never listened to much pop music, especially EDM so my first listen to most PTX originals was a little flat, but the more I listen the more I like them.

Hello Salvo G, so glad that you got to this Popspring 2016!! Your genuine appreciation is so clear. Cracked, Water and Can't Sleep Love are PTX originals. This version of Can't Sleep Love is just one of the best things ever. PTX on stage doing an original song with their precise and organized choreography. The images in the background are the graphics from the music video. Scott with his pop sounds, Kirstie with sweet sounds, Avi so deep and Kevin beat boxing. But Mitch stole show in Can't Sleep Love - for sure - starting with his vocalizations "pwaw pwaw pwaw pwaw", snapping fingers and the sweet ear candy "Yeah",. Then his singing, walking with the microphone stand, rapping, bopping and so sassy. Performer extraordinaire. Love your comment when Mitch started singing "Whoa....what is this?" Then your "Ohhssh", facial expression and look at the camera when Mitch started rapping, were priceless -- then your reaction when he took the vocals up into the stratosphere - double priceless!! Love your comments "I like that" "really nice" and by the second chorus you were singing along. Indeed - "what is this" --- this, sir, is a PTX original performed live. You already reacted to the Evolution of Michael Jackson but so happy that you see they can do their songs live. This is genius arrangement and transitions. Water is just beautiful - Kirstie so sweet and clear, those background vocals and more ear candy from Mitch. You really have to see them live if you ever get the opportunity. They are beyond amazing! I’ve seen them three times and have never been disappointed. Can’t wait until they are touring in the US again. I will be there for sure.

Been a PTX fan since the Sing Off. The fame they have achieved is totally deserved. I wish that radio stations would get their heads out of their behinds and give the original music the play it deserves!!!

You are not alone liking/ loving this song. Kirstie is the creative force for the song "Water." There are other videos online without the water drops, weird wig and outfit. I do not have the link to the video. She blonde hair with black outfit, very hot! The fans are sing it with her. Since 2017 seeing their video Daft Punk, I have put Pentatonix above my Imaging Dragons and classic Rock.

All these songs were originals if you consider that even the MJ compilation was completely their arrangement of the history of his music. Videos and live performances of the rest, with Can't sleep Love there is a version with Tink the rapper who did the part Mitch did, there is also a interactive video for that one.

I admire them for the amount of movement they do in their concerts. Bear in mind that there are no instrumental breaks; they all have to be glued to their microphones. And they can't do anything strenuous because they need their breath for singing. And moving to a different mic stand is a problem because there are big height differences.

Water was fantastic!! I loved that one. 1st time hearing and that was so layered..and LIVE!!! Loved Mitch in Can't Sleep Love...angelic. Etherealness is a great word for that. As far as favorite songs...each time I hear a new one ...that's my favorite. That's when you know a group is just GREAT.

I think ethereal is the word you were looking for. If you want ethereal you HAVE TO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WATCH their cover of "Dreams". A lot people describe it as what would be playing as you ascend into heaven. It is my favorite cover and it's five part angelic harmony.

Yeah this is seriously my favorite concert clip ever. The sound quality was incredible and all the songs except the Michael Jackson Medley were originals. And all 3 of those originals really highlight all the amazing things about them as a group of individual artists coming together. So amazing. I'm glad you watched it! Also I think your thinking of like Vocal Trance. Above and Beyond once played a festival I attended and they had a guest female vocalist (name currently escaping me) and it was a very similar vibe of what you were describing. And it's very common in trance in general. Yeah Water I think is my favorite I have heard from them live. So intricate and detailed. It took my breath away and made me cry the first time I listened to it. It sounds incredible and totally pulled me in!

Quality was great here because it was recorded by MTV. They were one of several bands performing and this was all of their performances. These are all originals, of course except the Michael Jackson medley.

EDM music is a favorite of Mitch Grassi, it greatly influences his original solo music which he performs under his Messer persona. I would guess that they did other songs at this Popspring concert that are not shown in the video. For one, at the end of "Cracked" you could tell they were transitioning into another of their original songs, "Na Na Na" but the editing cut it off. They combined those two songs in their concerts and tour that followed the release of the album "Pentatonix." Also at that time the performed "Aha" a lot. I'm inclined to think they would in this concert as well.

Popspring is a pop music festival in Japan with many popular groups/singers invited, & it was professionally recorded in order to be replayed on tv too (hence the logo in the corner) so everyone loves the great sound quality you mentioned. PTX did an hour at this appearance & you can find a vid of their whole performance on RU-vid if you look, but everyone recommends this clip which puts their most famous Evolution song with 3 amazing originals of different genres. It's such a great way to get a taste of a PTX concert experience & show those unfamiliar or new to the group that they don't just do 1 style & have great originals as well as being famous for their covers & mashups.

I love when people vibe to their originals. They don't get the credit they deserve for their originals (IMHO). "Water" was one of my least favorite songs on the album, which isn't saying much because I love the album but some I LOVE (Misbehavin', Light in the hallway and Sing) but Water just didn't speak to me...UNTIL I saw them perform it live! It's now at the top. Don't know if it was the combo of the water drop with the beat that got my attention but I LOVE that song now.

Definitely recommend the studio versions of their originals, cracked, cant sleep love and water, but I think only cant sleep love has a video. The other 2 are audio only. Other awesome originals with videos are happy now and coffee in bed.

I always enjoyed their studio/ video of can't sleep love, very artsy collaboration with dancers. Had not seen this pop spring performance. Both are great in their own right.
