I still cry every time I listen to this. Avis solo and the look on his face destroy me... if you haven't yet, Run to You is another. It's also written by Avi and Kevin
This song gets me on an emotional ride too. So be never awkward for crying in an reaction and you're not the first and for sure not the last reactor getting deep emotions from a Pentatonix song. They all are too good in delivering emotions with voice and harmonies. Greetings from Germany
I love this version. OK, something fun, you mentioned Power Rangers, well here’s a surprise…Dimash sang Go Go Power Rangers for on of the Power Ranger movies, so I am going to find the video and attach it for you, I know that you will love it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tA3d8Xj4M5s.html Here it is ❤️
I agree that the emotion is so raw, maybe because it is a cappella and the sound is pure so none of the emotion in their singing is masked by instruments
Never _ever_ be ashamed of what I call "reactears" because it shows you are human. You are not the first and you won't be the last to be moved to tears by a Pentatonix -cover,- no, _upgrade_ of a song. There are still two or three songs that I can think of right off the bat that could make you cry. They make me cry every single time I hear them and I've heard them tens, maybe hundreds of times. Coming out of the year of covid, Scott wrote a song called "Thank You" that never fails to bring me to tears. I hope you will react to that one. And maybe you already have because I'm going back in time to watch all of your Pentatonix reactions one more time. You are by far my favorite reactor. Cheers!
Your sharing your vulnerability is a gift. I appreciate seeing folks’ true emotions. We are all human with histories and lives and sometimes need the reminders to give each other grace.
Dude, I saw you at like 5 seconds in, and was thinking "Oh my god, he is...doomed. DOOMED! (but in such a good way)" Seen this one a hundred times, still kills me - it's one of favorites, always willing to pay the emotional tax for it :) Thanks for being willing to share so much of yourself with all of us. Never apologize for feelin' the feels. We have a saying in our house, "Honor your tears" - they just mean you're letting yourself feel the universe. And I agree, PTX just has a way of letting all us "get there". I think it's at least partially because it's so clear that *they're* feeling all the feels, while they're singing, that gives us all permission. Does that make sense? Anyway - def glad to be on this trek with you!
Do you notice how motionless they all are? They're supposed to be a "photo" and usually they use their hands quite a bit when they sing....Scott is handing onto those chairs like crazy to make himself be still! I also read that Kirstin had an eye infection in her right eye (behind her hair). But, the vocals - so outstanding and so emotional. How DO they do that?
What's especially well done is that their facial expressions are as moving as their voices in this. Kirstie looks like she's about to burst into tears, Avi looks like he's just numb and in shock from pain...and it doesn't help that Kevin's slow cello-plucking sounds like a heartbeat. ~sniffle~
As Keith mentioned below, 'Amazing Grace' is a great suggestion, however, 'The Wizard of Ahhh's is a must must do! Again, super great reaction... 👍👍👍👍👍
I think this is one of those songs that anyone can relate to because we’ve ALL had that one person for whom we would have done almost anything to make it work. This song takes you back to that place that moment when you realized it was done.
My ex literally admitted to doing everything possible to push me into ending the relationship because she didn't want to be the one to do it. This song is a gut punch to the feels every dang time.
@@GOTGames Sing is another PTX original and if u don’t feel uplifted/ happy after hearing that one, I don’t know what to say but I know YOU will, it’s like if a smile was a song 😎
I love Avi's part here. When he sings his parallel harmonies with the cello his voice is a perfect match for the quality of the cello. That's a big compliment in my book. I'm crying right along with you. But it's worth it for this beauty.
Another one that makes me cry every time I hear it is Dancing on My Own. It was the first one they did after Avi left, before Matt joined the group. Kevin plays the cello which seems to be Avi’s part. Just the expressions on their faces are so emotional. Many feel it is their goodbye to Avi. A must!!! 💕💕
I understand those motions. I think most people can relate to that. Kirsten does a great job on "Rather Be" where she does most of the singing. You might enjoy their mashup of "La la latch" as well. Thank you😊👏
Sooo.... you felt like your tear-ducts needed a workout today then? 😁 Yeah, music can capture a moment of real life and freeze it in amber, so that whenever you hear that music you're taken straight back to a moment that resonates. Avi's little part always gets to me. I think you'd also like their cover of Billie Eilish's 'When The Party's Over' as well - they did a beautiful job of that one. And their own, original song 'Thank You' - that Scott and his boyfriend wrote for each other during the COVID lockdown, that basically managed to encapsulate *everything* the world was feeling that Christmas of 2020.
Thank you for taking me on this journey discovering Pentatonix, I had never heard them before I discovered you, it has been a real treat. Every song I hear is absolutely beautiful and I am a fan now
Makes sense you waited until you could handle it. They for sure don't take it easy on ye olde heartstrings! They sing this song beautiful with such palatable desperation and pain, showed in the video as well. You can FEEL it! Glad you allow yourself to show your genuine reactions. (I wrote this comment before hearing the end story there. So now I mean this comment even more! Genuinely happy that you have that access to your emotions!)
I think this song speaks to anyone who has hoped for a relationship that didn’t work. This is my favorite PTX cover. Thanks for sharing. Glad you are healing. Hugs
Hey man, I think everyone went through some kind of pain in their lives and some of us would shut down to cope. And some of us go through years of numbness. I think its far better to feel though, although it took some of us years for thd 'switch' to flip back. I think we all have something that still shines through when we are shut - a song, a scene, a smell, a movie... it proves that we are not dead inside. I think its a blessing to be able to feel, good or bad. Thanks for sharing.
Say Something does it to me too... even just the first few lines... it's full of so much love and devotion but giving up in defeat... just crushing. And of course, Pentatonix....
They prove that 1+1+1+1+1=infinity when they are together. The chances of this group coming together was so infinitesimally small that only the powers that be in the universe could have made it happen. I’m glad they decided to do that to allow us mere mortals to have something to brighten our days. Three kids meet as children who love to sing and decide to keep singing together in school and local theater. As a side note, can you imagine trying to keep those three reigned in in high school choir? Scott, Mitch and Kirstie say that she did help them learn to blend better. They become life-long friends. Scott befriends Ben Bram who helps Scott get on The Sing Off. Ben introduces Scott to Avi. Scott talks Kevin into giving up med school at Yale and joining four strangers to compete on The Sing Off. They actually win the show. Sony drops them so they decide to start building their Pentaholic following on You Tube. Viral videos, and great music follows, and they get resigned to Sony. Avi decides to leave the group and they find another great bass in Matt. While Matt is not Avi, he is still excellent and I think he blends even better with the other members of PTX. If anything happens differently along that path Pentatonix does not exist, and the world is a lesser place.
I cried the first dozen times I watched this. Amusing trivia fact: thematically, this video is supposed to be a painting. That’s why, aside from their facial expressions, they’re all holding as still as possible. Well, you know from the other videos that Scott is a very passionate singer, and uses his hands a lot to express his emotions. In the shots where you can see his hands, you’ll notice he has a death grip on the backs of Kevin and Kirstie’s chairs. That was literally the only way he could stop himself from gesturing during the shoot. Another one that makes me cry is “Waving Through a Window”, a cover from the musical “Dear Evan Hansen”.
Other than this, Kirstin did not get many leads in the first few years. This and Rather Be are the ones that come to mind Of course now she writes her own songs, so she get far more leads. But one early one that is usually overlooked is Sweet Nothing. It is all Kirsten with the boys just backing her. Wonderful track
I think almost everyone in the world have had these sentiments in some relationship. That's why this song is so relatable. And Pentatonix did a wonderful cover (like always!).
Your honesty about your feelings with this song reveals your integrity. You are correct when you said that a person can become numb for a while after a traumatic experience. Pentatonix do this beautiful song so much credit, especially when they start to layer over each other's words towards the end of it. Also we should applaud Kevin for his role for playing the cello as well as singing and beat boxing. A great reaction as always
Most Pentaholics get emotional listening to certain songs (this one being near the top), and we NEED to see reactors get the same way, to validate our feelings. So you are providing a public service by showing your emotions to us. Thank you for being open and vulnerable with us, it really means a lot!! And yes, after my second divorce, I completely shut down, except to go to work. I laid in bed and watched movies, ate junk food, neglected my 3 kids, all the time, for over a year. Finally pulled out of it. Happy to hear you did too!
Thank you for sharing yourself with us. I was married for many years to a man who couldn't even cry at his parents funerals and I felt so sorry for him sometimes. The best thing about your reactions is that your emotions are right there, whether it's crying or laughing or joy or surprise. ❤💜💙
A break from making you emotional, I recommend their upgrade of Ariane Grande's Problem, and their original Love Again (it has a similar feel as the Daft Punk). Also, for a live setting Popspring 2016 where they perform 3 originals and the Evolution of Michael Jackson. It might seem like a long video but it'll be all good in one video.
Their original song 'Run to You' is always an emotional ride for me, id love to see you react to that one! their 5-part harmony never fails to hit me right in the heart
Great reaction! I appreciate your genuine insights, thoughts and yes, emotions! I am in my 60s and have learned, that at least for me, the only thing worse than the emotions that result from being heartbroken and bruised by Life is to be shut down and not feel anything! I enjoy your reaction videos and look forward to seeing more!
I feel you when it comes to a bad relationship shutting you down emotionally because I've been there as well. I'm actually not sure that I have ever completely healed from the many traumas I've experienced in my life. But the fact that you are on here now and able to talk about your emotional challenges says a lot to your healing. This group has the ability to pull emotions out of anyone who isn't completely dead inside.
"By your powers combined, I will make you cry" Captain Planet with your ring reference instead of the Power Rangers is what came to mind! Love how honest you are with every reaction. Thank you for this. I have streamed your channel and reaction videos nonstop today. It brought such joy to my soul to see your honest reactions and emotions to truly inspirational songs and anthems that you've reacted to. It's been a much-needed uplift. Thank you very much.
I love your reactions to them and seeing how happy and excited you get watching them. It's very easy to get emotional while listening to them because of the depth of their emotions and feelings they put in to their music.
If you want beauty and harmony you need to check out “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”. It is really good and has some special Mitch parts! Great reaction❤️
Music was initially a live experience, a public shared event, which I think people lose sight of now that we can record everything. Emotions are how we experience music, and it should be shared. This was the first version of Say Something I ever heard, and it will always be my favorite, most emotionally charged version.
any new pentatonix reaction you do immediately makes my day better. you are absolutely one of the best doing this kind of "hobby" enthusiasm, charisma, vulnerability, articulate, humble and knowledgeable and charming come to mind. . as you go down the rabbit hole, run to you and take my heart are two similar songs, one original, that in my opinion demonstrate what geniuses in their genre they are. and i am afraid you will cry at both, you are in good company, me included.
Everyone has had a relationship end like this. Someone you had to walk away from no matter how much you cared and if the other person had said ANYTHING to fix it you wouldn’t have gone.
Yes, PTX acts as much as sings, and they really have good, loving hearts. You might want to watch some of the PTXperience videos, brief real-life documentaries of their life on the road and in the studio, which will show you how they are as people as well as performers.
Pentatonix songs that probably won’t make you cry but will make you excited and hyped: Come Along, New Rules x Are You That Somebody, Attention, Over the River ❤️
You never need to apologize for showing emotion. It's not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of humanity. Music has the amazing ability of touching people to our souls and drawing out all sort of emotions. I'm sure all your subscribers have been touched by music in some way, shape or form. That's why we send you these songs to react to! Thanks for sharing a bit of your story in this video as well!
Was just coming on to say the same. Music has a way of bringing out our emotions and healing us. It’s amazing how a song can affect or bring out an emotion you didn’t even know you had! That happened to me with Pentatonix cover of Imagine when Kirstie turned the woman card....hit me like a ton of bricks unexpectedly 🤷🏼♀️. Well said Brent.
Thank you for being vulnerable and letting us see your emotions. I’m glad I’m not the only one who can cry, laugh and be completely overwhelmed by music.
A fairly recent original PTX song that is a must.. "Thank You." Written by Scott and for partner (husband?), his fellow PTX members and their audience, it's a thank you for getting him through the worst of the pandemic. One word.... GORGEOUS !
Your reactions are as honest as they are while singing -- never apologize for FEELING like you do. I agree that music brings us back to some of the hardest times in our lives, but also the most positive. If you need a break from crying, try their original song SING -- you can have a few minutes to just smile and tap your toes!! (They include many fans in this video)
The other Lindsey Stirling that you saw was "Over the River" (and through the woods) that came out on their newest Christmas album. It's a fantastic version, I can promise you, unlike anything you've heard!! Thanks for this reaction - it was great - they definitely have a way of bringing you INTO the emotions of a song, so cool how they can manage to do that with just about any song they do!!!
Never apologise for displaying the emotions that beautiful lyrics and harmonies creates. A lot of us watch channels like yours to see if other people feel the music the way we do. Pentatonix have probably made me ugly cry more in the last ten years than all other music artists put together in more than half a century. Keep up the good work.
I am so happy that you openly stated your views of being open and supportive of everyone! I think you'd like the group "Superfruit". Scott and Mitch started it and they have made 2 albums "Future Friends" 1 & 2 The videos are great! "The Promise" & "Goodbye from Lonely"are great examples of how they complete each other vocally!! I'd love to see your reactions to all their stuff... keeping in mind, it's all original! Thanks again for your reactions and have a great weekend! 💜 from Arizona 🏜️
Music and songs are supposed to move you, so don't ever feel bad for being emotional. We've all been there. Thanks for this reaction! Now you need to do Amazing Grace and Shallow. 😉
AGH. I totally understand why you’ve been avoiding this one. This song in general absolutely devastates me with how emotional/sad it is. 😭 ADD IN THEIR ANGELIC VOICES AND IM WRECKED!!! 😂 UGH IM CRYING NOW-but thanks for crying along with me. 🙏😭💜✨
We knew this one would make you cry. You've probably reacted to a few of the most emotional songs now. Can't Hold Us is a great song that is quite different (won't make you cry.)
Love your reactions! Yes, this is definately a tear jerker. Gets me every time, who hasn't gone through some kind of heartbreak! Yes, please do Amazing Grace you will love it!
You are adorable. Really. What a sweet soul. Thank you for your reactions. I have been through similar, but in the last few years I've fought back and music has been a big part of that. This was the first video where I learned that Kevin is a magical unicorn who can beatbox WHILE playing cello, and sing beautifully to boot.
Lindsey Sterling does Radioactive, Papaoutai and Over the River with them. I agree with everything you said about the wonder of their voices together. Imagine is the one that ALWAYS makes me cry.
That was a beautiful reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. I love that you "get" them. Thank you. I look forward to more of your Pentatonix reactions.
Thank you for your sincere reaction! I appreciate every PTX reaction you do! I'm here for more PTX/Superfruit(Mitch and Scott's side RU-vid project)/solo stuff!
I am so glad that you have found healing and are able to express your emotions. The part of this song that really gets to me is Kevin’s celloboxing. The whole song is perfection. You need to react to some happier ones- Sing, Happy Now, Come Along. 😊
Damn it, man I almost made it all the way through!! Haha. Just want to say that I know I speak for a lot of people when I say....everything you just said about Pentatonix can be said about you. Sorry about your heartbreak bro and thanks for sharing. You seem like a really good person with a big heart and that is why you get so affected by this song. It's real and honest and simple and above all, the absolute truth. Looking in from the outside, those words can be said about you, ya big lug nut. This song IS you. We love you right back and can't wait for the next vid.
I totally agree 100%!! You can tell they truly love what they do and we do feel it to the core. No one else does that to me consistently, maybe a song here and there, but not on a regular basis. I agree with The Wizzard, Amazing Grace and The Wizard of Ahhh's are a must!!! Their original Run To You is another that tugs at the heart strings, but oh so beautiful. Simply love your reactions!!
Kirstin is brilliant! I Do think this is one of the best Avi songs, they use his range so beautifully and lyrically. It socks me in the gut every time.
You need to check out so many songs. Kirsten's, Be My Eyes; Looking through my window, Amazing Grace, My Favorite Things, Sing, Can't Hold Us, Cheerleader on and on and on...12 days of Christmas, Your a Mean One Mr. Grinch........
