This is Synth Pop, a big movement in British music in the 80s (a sub-genre of New Wave) with bands like Pet Shop Boy, A-ha, Spandu Ballet etc. Brit Pop was a 90s music movement with bands like Oasis and Blur.

I love thier mellow reactions as they sing. Not to loud. No crazy guitar playing or flashy visuals. Proof that you dont always need any of that to make a classic song. This just injects you with 80s even if you where not even alive yet.
