Queen Latifah hit the scene as a teenager and challenged a male dominated industry to do better and be better. Not only commanding respect, but demanding it with bars like "you've been beggin' and dyin' for somebody's rhymin' to set you free, for God loved the world he gave you me..." Fearless, strong, beautiful, outspoken, and dope AF on the mic.

My Jersey Queen 👑 🙌🙌👊👑👑. Latifah Holds Such a Special and Unmovable Spot in my Heart. Not Only can She Spit 🔥🔥🔥, But it makes sense and makes you think. She carries herself with the Utmost Respect (hence why she's The Queen) she can Sing Beautifully , Act in any genre(Comedy, Action, Drama etc), Daytime Talk Show Host (I was in her Audience) But above all else, She's the True definition of , A Good Role Model. Yes!! She is a Queen, indeed!! More female rappers, please! Have you done any MC Lyte yet? Excuse me for not scrolling all the way down to check. If you haven't, I recommend "Lyte as a Rock". If you want to dabble in some West Coast style female rap, try Ice Cube's protégé Yo-Yo. Her song "You Can't Play With My Yo-yo".

I was 20 or 21 when this came out..I remembered when I was like 13 they only played rap songs and new rappers at a certain time on the radio for me it was 4:00 PM on a AM radio station I had get my cassette tape player press play & record so I had my own rap tape to listen to..guess you called that a mix tape back then 😆

Latifah grew up on 80's Hip Hop. It was MANDATORY you had to have some serious bars back then. I think Hip Hop tool a deep dive from it's "rawness" in the late 90s. Being overproduced has it's benefits adm drawbacks.
