I’m a 63 yr old Aussie mum, this is my favourite song of theirs, it is stunningly beautiful! My son got me into Rammstein as a teenager in around 2004 and I have loved them since. There is a video of the making of this music video, no high mountains, very well done. My son got to meet and have his pic taken with Til during a small promo gathering in Melbourne Australia for Lindemann a while back. He has one tattoo, and it is Rammstein’s logo on his upper arm!
@@kevinty7 some of their music like this, is just beautiful, as is Sonne. I love the heavy rock as I grew up seeing AC/DC live so many times as a teenager in Melbourne with the brilliant Bon Scott, but Rammstein’s softer songs, as well as Lindemann of course, are stunning also. Try Yukon if you can by Lindemann, absolutely stunning vocally and musically.
As far as I know, Ohne Dich is essentinally the band saying to eachother "Without you, I am alone". The band was close to splitting around the Mutter (2001) era, which they had to work through as a group. This song was released after that in 2004 on Reise Reise.
As far as I know, they have all had therapy to help them stay together. There has never been a line up change with them since they started, and it is also a democracy, all have equal say and songwriting credits. Everyone is as important as the others, good way to do it I think.
This song is about commitment and unity of the band. Being together is not easy, but being apart is even worse. I love how each following chorus brings more emotions i Till's voice. A beautiful song, many people who I know were totally shocked that this is Rammstein ❤

Yeah really liked the song I listened without English translation and definitely got a sense of foreboding, death , loss although the video helped to give that impression but I think I would have come to the same conclusion had I listened without the video. The more Rammstein I listen to the more I like them👍

I've read Till wrote this song as apology for the quarrel that he caused when he made the video for the song Mutter single-handedly. The other band members were exhausted after the last tour and needed vacations. Till decided not to wait for the others and did it alone. As the band has no leader but decides everything democratically, that led to a serious crisis within the band. So the song is about the band that only exists with all six original members. I'm not sure whether this agreement was made as a result of the crisis or whether this was already agreed in earlier times. The aluminium plate where Oliver punches in Till's name is the usual kind of tombstone for mountain climbers in regions where it is not possible to bring back a mountaineer that died during the ascent (e. g. in the death zone of Mount Everest).
@@kevinty7 It was not really Till's decision, it was the decision of the director and I can understand perfectly why. It was a very good diction, I would have done the same. Could I? Yes, because I am a filmmaker myself. Not know, because I am more in shorts, did not do it for spotlight presents. I have even a BA (hons) in digital film production. By the way "Ohne Dich" was filmed in Tyrol/Austria, the country and county I was born, but I do not live there anymore. The rest here is alright, but again, that was not Till's decision and I heard Richard admitting in an interview, that he tried to "take over" control of the band at a certain time. After that, they talked a lot and realised, they never would have come that far, if only one was missing. Thanks for your reaction and yes, I am sometimes a bit "behind".
The music video for "HAIFISCH" is the sequel to "OHNE DICH", "SONNE", "AMERIKA", "KEINE LUST" and "DU HAST". In "HAIFISCH" the band wanted to do exactly the opposite of the song. The song is about the band's solidarity and in the video they bury Till and accuse each other of being guilty. Very funny video 😂for example Till as Snow White. Kind regards
This reminds me of the film I think its called Touching the Void where a mountaineer falls and gets suspended in mid air and his partner has to cut the rope as he dould do nothing else well worth seeing.
It's a song about friendship and loyalty. It's in a quite ancient german language. "Weh mir, oh weh mir..." (Woe to me, a little bit Shakesbeerish 😜) This song reminds me of old Krautrock.
