One of These Nights is so underrated in their discography, so I’m happy to see you so excited about it. It’s one of my fav songs of theirs.

The entire set list for this performance was organized the way it was on purpose. It is divided into two halves, the RED set and the VELVET set. RED set = Happiness to Red Flavor VELVET set = Peek-A-Boo to Chill Kill RED is the upbeat, fast, fun songs while the VELVET is the chill, laid back, RnB songs.

Wendy on the left is the main singer and my favorite singer in all kpop. She is powerful and talented. If you are curious and if you want to hear more of her she was the guest to the LeeMujin service show. She sang Whitney Houston and two other Korean songs. Definitely worth your time. Oh wow! I did not expect this one. Red Velvet is really good. They have tons of really fun/great songs and SLAY the vocals.

Btw, you seemed a bit surprised by the newest release being called the ‘3rd album’. Just to clarify, the way they count stuff like that is that it’s specifically their 3rd full length Korean studio album. They also have a full length Japanese album, 12 Korean EPs and 2 Japanese EPs that are not counted as regular ‘albums’ as far as naming goes. I enjoyed the reaction. Wendy is an insane vocalist haha.

LOL I understand your feeling about Zimzalabim. When it first came out it created such an argument within the fandom lmao, lots of people said it was bad BAD (it’s not the first time it occurred within the fandom, but I never understood the other ones lol). But with time people came to somewhat appreciate it. The producers went with the concept of a “mad” amusement park/circus and honestly you can hear it in the instrumentals. The chorus is also giving the impression that they’re putting a spell on you, which refers to the title “Zimzalabim” being an equivalent to “Abracadabra” or “Alakazam”. I think it’s pretty genius skxjsk but yeah the unusual structure makes it hard to enjoy it at first listen, you have to get used to the numerous twists in the song. With the years I came to LOVE it, it’s such a bop honestly if you like whimsical and quirky music. Also they changed the song structure for this Killing Voice, they just sung the first verse + chorus and jumped right to the bridge afterwards, so it sounds even more strange ssjzjsk Yay a One Of These Nights lover!! 🥺 This song is soooo so beautiful and they didn’t even include the (imo) best part of the song aka the bridge and last chorus. The MV is so gorgeous too. The director is the same one who worked on the MV for Automatic, my two personal favorite MVs of theirs because of their simplicity, overall atmosphere and also the editing/camera tricks used in them.

I think Red Velvet is so slept on in the West, compared to the other 2 big K-pop girl groups (Tw, BP). The b-sides here are Carpool, You Better Know, Kingdom Come, Time to Love, Oh Boy, Lady's Room; the rest are title tracks. "Red" songs are more pop and upbeat, "Velvet" songs are slower and R&B-influenced. They mix up these two sides strikingly ("Red Velvet") in Chill Kill, with its bright chorus and darker verses. The songs in this Killing Voice are roughly grouped in sections: Red (up to Red Flavor, and the penultimate three songs), Velvet (Peek-A-Boo to Time to Love) and Red Velvet (CK). RV bridges are some of the most memorable in K-pop (e.g. Happiness, Zimzalabim, Red Flavor). Also, Wendy is by a sizable consensus the most skilled vocalist of any K-pop girl group that debuted from 2014 until now, and the vocal timbres of RV are among the most unique and recognizable in all of K-pop. That these highly singular singers came together in one group is so fortuitous it's almost miraculous. All of them auditioned, not one was scouted. In particular, Wendy's audition for SM (their company) was a happy accident. She was accompanying a friend for that person's audition, and was only persuaded, on a lark, to try out as well. I liked your comment about how songs fit into culture and media is how they become popular,, it was a really interesting point! And yes kpop is highly manufactured to be as eye-catching and ear-catching as possible, but if the music itself is good then I don't really mind haha And yes Zimzalabim like the magic spell, the song is about encouraging you to make your dreams come true. The song is quite divisive, even among reveluvs (Red Velvet fandom), but I get hype to it ^^ A lot of Red Velvet's bsides are very 90s RnB inspired, which is partly why I love their discography so much~ Far left is Wendy and she is my ultimate bias - her tone is so thick and warm, but still bright, like a hug 💙 Thank you for taking the time to appreciate these ladies!

After watch your reaction , just extremely blame SM how they done for RV, how they less promo these 5 talented girls in comparison with Aespa/NCT. How many people cant hear their voice and need them personally find out after almost 10 years they debuted.

interesting. It's always cool to boldly express all your thoughts while listening to a song, maybe opinions that someone hasn't waited for. The same goes for Red Velvet. This group has never brought what the people waiting for them want from the start until now. But people ended up enjoying their unexpected discography. I strongly recommend that you take a look at all their albums. Maybe it will bring what every KPOP reactors wants from them. Vast versatility, Smart adaptability, precise intention, perfect artistry. P.S: I evaluate all music with a firm standard of my own for art. It is rare to recommend someone's music in my own case, because whether people like it or not totally depends on each one's musical taste. But the reason why I like Red Velvet is that they have shown a level that transcends others by absolute standards all the time. Nobody doubts their talents and mostly finds their besties in kpop.

I think due to their concept being RED/VELVET/ RED VELVET, their songs always fits their sound, and I love that.
