You’re right for most of his stuff, but he does rap over other peoples beats too. Any of those will have “Retake” in Ren’s title, he’s done it with songs from The Verve, Fisher, Fat Boy Slim and a few others. But he masterfully mixes them and makes it his own, while also remaining respectful to the original artists. Really talented dude.

@@reactivereplays5666 I was just going to say, even if he has no instruments, he just makes it all with his voice. He does it a lot more than people realize too. On Suicide he has that high pitched, extremely distorted vocal over the guitar (right at the start and then in between verses) and I don't think people realize that's a vocal. He's a talent and one we really need in the industry right now.

Make sure you get the one with Ren in red suspenders - there are a couple other videos on his channels with "I Shot The Sheriff" in the title, filmed on other days, but daytime/red suspenders has the clearest sound and video, and a truly brilliant performance.

The thing is, this is just one a huge variety of things that he does. Poet, rapper, songwriter, storyteller multi-instrumentalist (all types of guitar, piano, drums), beatboxer, makes his own beats, produces and mixes his own stuff, visualises and directs his own videos. And all in a variety of genres. The hip hop album being released this year was made simply because that's what he fancied doing. And he pretty much nails everything he does.

@@tundiel I’m multi instrumented and produce for more than 1 genre. That’s not hard. He does what he wants because that what is happening, machine gun Kelly, willow smith, etc. all trying to be rap and hardcore. Ren is another quirk that will happen. He will play a few gigs and then people will stop listening as he does the same all the time. When he comes up with his own sound and stops trying to be Jamie T maybe he would be half decent, yet he can’t. That’s his whole appearance. A wanna be.

@@tundiel put him in the battles. Who would he beat? Definitely not ransom, fliptrix, dirty dike, verb t, Baxter, the owls, would you like me to continue as this is just off the top of my head. He never even made it into don’t flop. 1 a poet is a rapper and a rapper is a song writer, who tells stories. So he can play some instruments, Yep not that hard. Sticking to 1 instrument is hard. I would rather be as good as Tim Henson than make simple samples to put over an already boring song.

@getinTHEBIN318 All this just tells me that you haven't really listened to much of Ren's music. And that's fine. Not everyone will enjoy his stuff. But you can dislike something without attacking the person. Both your comments are bordering on nasty, and are at the very least disrespectful. You're disparaging someone who has been making music for 20 years. You might not like or even appreciate his stuff, but you don't need to resort to insults. That's just mean. FYI, I never implied that he was the 'best' rapper. That wasn't my point. Maybe it didn't come across, but I was simply stating that Ren has a large variety of musical styles across several genres, and that he does them well. Good for you that you produce stuff from several genres! Despite your blasé remark, I'm sure it's not as easy as you say. If it was, everyone would be doing it. Peace out.
