Ok. This is the 10th reaction video I've watched tonight of this song. This was by far the best and most fun of the bunch... Bravo. 1.4 billion views of this song....I might be 100,000 of them.😂😅😊 Ric and Prince are both walking out with all your women ❤
In my opinion he has one of the best voices ever!! Love him! Rick was 21 when this came out in 1987. It was his first song, he had 8 top ten hits in the next 5 years. He became disenchanted with the music business and retired at 27. He has started gigging again and has released several albums in the past 5 years. His first new one, 50, premiered in the UK at number one. I prefer his newer songs, he looks more like his voice. Some of the new ones are - Walk Like a Panther - Everyone of Us - This Old House - Beautiful Life. My favorite is “Try” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0Aud6ROCkKI.html
And yes! Everyone was shocked when they saw him. Right after this song was released and before the video, he went to a club with his producers and they didn’t let him in. After they got in, others wanted to know why Rick wasn’t there, because they were expecting a black guy
Just came upon this video and everyone had the same reaction to his voice! I grew up in the 80s and this was a big hit. Its is such a fun uplifting song. ❤
Yes even DJs in 1980s thought he was black but wow what a voice he made other songs he made millions but retired he couldn't handle the fame he still sounds the same now and tours and still looks so young
Holy c**p he was so young in that video. He still sings and sounds great. First I saw this I was shocked at the voice. I didn't know anythings about him. Crazy right? But he is good and I love the music.
Amazing soulful voice, he was only 21 years old when this came out in 1986 🔥if we didn’t have MTV I WOULD HAVE NEVER GUESSED THIS MUCH POWER CAME OUT OF HIS LUNGS LITERALLY LUNGS . He is still preforming and SOUNDS AMAZING. FACT:THE CLOTHES HE IS WEARING WERE HIS OWN TO KEEP BUDGET LOW 🔥💃🎼❤️👍🔥💃🔥
He had another big hit in the same dance-pop vein, "Together Forever," but I prefer two other (smaller) hit songs that really lean into and show the soul in his voice: "Cry for Help" and my favorite, the underrated "It Would Take a Strong, Strong Man." React to those
In 2023 Rick played a set at the world famous Glastonbury Festival at the age of fifty seven and went down a storm. The thousands in the crown loved him. The voice is still great, and among his biggest fans are the Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl.
He retired at the ripe old age of 27 after about six years of his singing career. He did come back later in life about 2o years later. The song is a classic and will never get old in my book.
You've been Rick Rolled 😂 he was only 19 when his album came out and everyone was doing the Rick Roll. He stopped performing after his daughter was born and raised his children but this song is still been played at stadiums and parties. So many people thought he was an older black man until he started doing interviews and videos. It's funny alot of people laugh at him and make fun of this song but their huge in the closet fans, I dare anyone to listen to this song and not move. The bartender who is going crazy in the video was actually drunk.
No, never even thought color. Growing up and being at choir for majority of my school years. There were so many singers with special voices. Black, white ,Mexican, Chinese etc. It's the voice not the color of skin.
Lol, the entire thing around this song was a black voice, with a skinny British red head. I remember when it came out, We were all blown away. Very cool!
Now that you watched this video, would love you to react to the new video that just dropped, by HOME FREE, on their version of this song, it is absolutely hilarious, and of course, the singing is impeccable!!!
Ooo, coming to this late. But to answer the question at 2:30, I heard this song LOTS of times on the radio back when it came out LONG before I ever saw the video. I thought Rick was a 40+ year old black man - something akin to Luther Vandros in the day. Then I saw the video..... There was NO WAY that voice was coming out of Howdy Doody!! Rick was half the age I thought he was, skinny, red-head, and BRITISH to boot. It was a real mind fuck, and I love watching younger generations rediscover him now and have the same reaction I did 35 years ago.
😂😂😂 until this vid came out...lot of people thought he was black! They couldnt believe a redheaded skinny white boy had that voice! lol He did a few more things after this but didnt like the way the music industry was! So he retired at 27 yrs old. He just started making music again a couple years ago!
I AM 69 YEARS OLD AND HAVE HEARD THIS SONG MANY TIMES,BUT I DID NOT KNOW RICK WAS A YOUNG WHITE GUY UNTIL I SAW THE VIDEO A FEW YEARS AGO😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊I WAS SHOCKED AND I LOVE WATCHING THE REACTIONS TO HIM ON YOU TUBE.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
loved to see you get up and dance. Unfortunately ppl used to call him Howdy Doody? cuz of his red hair and pale skin but just like Ed Sheeran, we clearly now can't judge anyone by their appearance. Also when we'd hear songs back in the day, we actually didn't think they might to be white or black. It wasn't like now. Sad, but true. I truly enjoyed your fun reaction!! 🙂
First time I heard this song back in the 80's was on the radio I figured it was a brother then about a month later I saw the video on MTV and nearly crapped myself when I saw this skinny ass white dude singing. Lol
Can you react to Yvonne elliman song “if I can’t have you” it came out in the 1970s it was very popular I believe you’re going to have the same reaction as this song her voice is going like wow
Look up his foo fighter song he kills that shizz......im an 80s gurl...this shit was the shit he is laugi g all the way to the bank...he is talented though
