If you would like an example of how big an impact on music he truly had, there is a concert video he did just a few days before his death called Black and White Night. The sheer amount of rock royalty that was there that night in support of him is astounding. Amazing performer and King of Cool.

Welcome to the world of Roy Orbinson. He was one of the four of Sun Records - he, Johnny Cash, Elvis and Carl Perkins. No re-mastering done. Roy had a vocal range that few could come close to. Take an evening and watch "Black and White Night" as it has many of his hits and look at his band members who are great artists in their own rights. Compare this version to his and kd lang's duet as well as kd's solo video of Crying. He had a huge impact in the UK. Many have said he was a musician's musician. Mr Orbison's last album, King of Hearts, was released after his death by Jeff Lynne who worked with Roy in The Traveling Wilburys which also included Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan.

Fun Fact: Roy didn't need those glasses. When he first started, he was super shy/nervous. He wore the glasses to basically hide behind them and they became signature.

Yes he did need the glasses, he had worn very thick glasses for years and was very self-conscious about his glasses. He started wearing prescription sunglasses to hide the sickness of the prescription that he needed. You can find pictures of him when he first started out and see how thick his glasses were.

Roy Orbison had one of the most smooth powerful voices. He could sing real high falsetto & also low. Elvis Presley loved Roy's voice. Roy had lots of hits in the 60's such as "Only the Lonely", "Running Scared", "Pretty Woman", "In Dreams", "Love Hurts", "Blue Bayou" etc. In 1988, he co-founded the Traveling Wilburys (a rock supergroup) with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, & Jeff Lynne. They had a lot of great songs such as "Handle With Care" & "End Of The Line".

Roy was an immense talent, one of a kind. No one sang about heartache like Lonesome Roy. He wasn't blind. He started wearing sunglasses because of the bright lights onstage and it became his trademark look. True story: When Elvis was just starting out, you could book him to play a concert for $100 a night. A concert promoter in Texas - I wish I knew his name - booked Elvis to play five shows in five different Texas cities in one week. At two different shows that week, two young Texas boys saw Elvis and decided to start making music themselves. Their names were Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. We owe that promoter so much.

Roy was the very first singer that I fell in love with. That voice is so iconic. You really don't know what you've been missing. He was the only singer my older brother ever cared for and still does to this day. I have introduced his music to many younger generations and they all still love his catalog of songs 🎶. You can pick anyone of his songs and they are gold. You might try his collaboration with Canadian K.D. Lang on this same song. It is beautiful and when she finishes it people have said "Elvis has left the building and shes beautiful." 😆 As Dagmar stated he later towards the end of his life joined an iconic band of legendary musicians called The Traveling Wilburys and they put out some great music that was cut short by Roy's passing. A sad day it was indeed. But his beautiful music lives on. Pretty Woman I think is the most recognized. Thanks for your great reactions. 🥰💜🎶💜

Remastering is simply cleaning up the audio- EQ, compression, panning, volumes, noise removal etc we don’t change the sound we make it clearer. Old recordings like this were pre digital so it has been remastered, upscaled in quality, bitrate etc

But very few, if any people complained about how he conducted himself. ... Why do you think all those super stars in the entertainment industry came out to support Roy for his Black & White Night concert? At the source, sound recording equipment has been excellent for much longer than we realize. We listened too much to reproduced and degraded sound downstream onto radio, TV and videotape recordings. Nowadays, when we still have access to the masters, the quality can reach the final listener. I bought my first reel-to-reel tape recorder in 1968 and it was good enough to serve as my main music source for years.
