@@chrisblair5937 Hello friend! Rio de Janeiro where this legendary concert was filmed. Their crowds are notorious for being hype! Location is also in caption in title. 🎵✌️
@@ecce_neru I would recommend these versions (no links because RU-vid deletes comments): "La Villa Strangiato" -- Official music video on the "Rush" RU-vid page. "Xanadu" -- Live version from the "Exit Stage Left" tour in 1981. "2112" -- Animated music video on the "Rush" RU-vid page. It helps tell the story of the song. Posted April 4, 2016.
Yes! Do the official music video version - performed live but just for the video. It's insane. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eK1hmDpa8bo.html
The three of them ......leave me breathless and speechless.....we were Blessed to have them together in one amazing group producing some very special music!
'YYZ' is the airport code for Toronto, Canada, where Rush was from... This instrumental came together in 1980, when Rush was recording the album 'Moving pictures', guitarist Alex Lifeson took a break... so Geddy Lee (bass/vocals) & Neil Peart (drums) jammed together and came up w/ the track 'YYZ' before Lifeson returned. It became an iconic Rush instrumental... The Rio show in Brazil in 2002 was a triumph for Rush - one of the biggest shows of their career at the time. It was also capped a return for Rush, cos they had been gone for several years. They had last toured in 1997 before that tour... Neil Peart was a very private man offstage. It was a shock when fans learned that his teenage daughter Selena Peart was killed in a car accident in 1997... A devastated Peart basically left Toronto and moved to California. But then, his wife Jackie got sick w/ cancer and passed away in 1998. Neil Peart had said he found himself in the darkest place he had ever been mentally... so he took off on his motorbike that year and traveled around North America for over a year... Rush went on hiatus. Geddy Lee & Alex Lifeson decided to do other things... By 2001, Neil Peart had finally stopped traveling and settled back in California w/ his new wife Carrie, who helped him thru his depression... but he still was unsure about playing music or writing lyrics again... Lee, Lifeson & Peart talked for months, but made no plans. Finally, Peart agreed to start work, jamming w/ Rush again, but it was very shaky after being gone for 4 years... Music for the 2002 album 'Vapor trails' came together hurriedly, as guitarist Alex Lifeson co-produced the record. Peart wrote lyrics and he was still affected by his losses, and later admitted that there was a lot of his private anger and confusion went into those sessions... he also wrote about his long journey on his bike to recovery. Finally, 'Vapor trails' was released in 2002 (The last Rush album was 'Test for Echo' in 1996) and was the heaviest Rush album in their catalog. Peart reluctantly agreed to tour dates... and thankfully, that first US show went well, and that was a rebirth for Rush, as their return brought in the biggest crowds of their career and culminated w/ the massive shows in Brazil. The Rio show was recorded and filmed for a live album & DVD concert.
Did you love how the fans were 'singing' along to a song that had no words!!! Pure magical moment!! Seen them in concert 4 times, and the Neil Peart Drum solo was always my favorite part (R.I.P.). keep smiling 🤘 🙂
Next reaction. Neil peart drum solo live Frankfurt Germany. You will be blown away. Was fortunate enough to have seen them live many times, over the years. They always put on an incredible show! Unfortunately, we lost two master musicians in 2020, Neil Peart and Eddie van Halen
Think about this, as good as Neil is on the drums-imagine how good the other two have to be to keep up with him🤯seriously tho, each one of them is a master of their instrument(s)and play the parts of 2-3 people sometimes if necessary.🤘🖖✌️🥁🎸🎹🎤
Neil Peart’s Drum kit is actually two drum kits combined. The drum kit is a combination of Drum Workshop, Roland V-Drums a MIDI mallet and Roland foot triggers. The Triggers V-drums and MIDI mallet are connected to a rack full of samplers. Both Alex and Geddy are triggering synthesizer sounds from Moog Taurus pedals on the floor. Alex has 1 and Geddy has 2. Geddy is one at his keyboard station and the other is right where his mic stand is to the side of the keyboard rig. Rush does not do any playback or prerecordings. Rush either plays or triggers all synthesized sounds. Rush does not use any session or hidden players off stage like other bands
A bit of trivia, YYZ is the symbol for Toronto Pearson airport. Nice reaction to this exceptional Canadian band. Remember there are only 3 of them making this sound. Cheers from Canada
Geddy Lee: [inserts virtuosic line] Tay: Did you hear that??!? Let me back it up - listen to those DRUMS!! lol! Neil Peart was amazing, it's true. But Geddy and Alex are virtuosos in their own right. Geddy was absolutely KILLIN' IT on the bass!!!
Lol! Calm down. Leave the guy alone. He's drawn to to the drums with this band. What do you care? He even said he usually follows the guitar. But it's Neil that caught his ears and eyes. Why are you the arbiter of why people get to be a Rush fan?
@@morsecode2112 Now, don't go twisting my words - I was just pokin' fun. He made that comment immediately after one of Geddy's incredible bass fills so it struck me as funny, is all. Relax. 😆
I don't know how a crowd gets more enthusiastic than to actually 'sing' an instrumental. Other great trios include another Canadian group, Triumph, as well as Grand Funk Railroad.
Thank God for videos so this kind of talent will always be seen. This caliber of musicianship is seen less and less today. Three guys making this kind of HUGE sound is almost unbelievable, but here it is, right before our eyes.
This is RUSH flexing💪🏽!! 3 of the most technically perfect masters of their instrument. They don't even need a 4th cause Geddy on bass, keyboard, & vocals during songs. Alex on guitar & one of the absolute GOATS Neil on drums. The precision in which they play is astonishing. Can't wait for more RUSH. You're in for a ride Rico & Crystal! #RUSHARMY
YYZ is a 3 person masterclass. AND - that wasn't a festival. It was a concert that every single person wanted to be there for. The wordless singalong was EPIC.
Great reaction! Rush was great in the studio, but always raised the bar for their concerts. Xanadu live from their Exit Stage Left tour is a great example of Neil's (and the band's) talent. RIP Neil
Geddy is considered to be one of the greatest bass players also. He sings, bass, keyboards and foot pedals…sometimes all at the same time. Alex is a virtuoso. He is underrated but is a guitar player’s guitar player. The editor of rolling stone magazine formulated the greatest band using the best musicians that ever lived. He said he had to disqualify any member of rush because it wasn’t fair to the other artists.
Neil pearts famous solo live from Frankfurt Germany. LA VILLA STRANGIATO, time machine tour live in Cleveland, WORKING MAN, time machine tour live in Cleveland, LEAVE THAT THING ALONE, time machine tour live in Cleveland, TOM SAWYER and THE SPIRIT OF RADIO also both TIME MACHINE TOUR, you have to watch the funny intro videos to the spirit of radio and tom Sawyer, rush were famous for their funny intro videos.TIME MACHINE TOUR LIVE IN CLEVELAND, this was their greatest live show, best wishes from the UK.
That Rio crowd was awesome. I've been to enough concerts of every kind in my life, but never been to one that came close to the energy of that Rio show. Rush being my favorite band, seeing that Rio crowd love my band that way was pure joy.
Latin America has more than its share of progressive rock fans. When they actually get a chance to see a major act down there they are all over it! Even if that means flying to a neighboring country. It's not just Brazilians in that audience, I promise you.
Haha, I love it!!!!! I’m 50 years old, and I have been a Rush fan for 40 years, and counting, and I love seeing young people getting into music that I been listening to for years, and Ive seen them live here in Connecticut multiple times over the years, they never disappoint, some of the best at their respected instruments in the world. And Neil is your favorite drummers favorite drummer lol. RIP Neil 🥁🙏 Keep up the cool reactions 🤘
Rush is a amazing Canadian band. And yes amazing sound for just 3 guys. All very talented. They met in high school formed a band and never looked back.
Your genuine interest in the better parts of the song is refreshing….. 2112 in Rio and Bytor and the snowdog 1981 are other examples that highlight the brilliance of Rush.
Listen to his drum solos in their live recording to be really blown away, my favorite is his one on the lp " all the world's a stage" before all the modern day effects came in to play
Rush got one hell of a drummer .Neil .rest in peace .awesome band in all.in some ways they was like Pink Floyd.pretty cool they are Canadian.sorry about the loud music .it’s about to get louder fellows
The crowd in Rio was so happy to see Rush in person for the first time ever, that they hummed-sung (if that's even a thing???) along with the melody of an instrumental. LOL Gotta love it. RUSH ON EH!!! *edit* I see you already reacted to Neil's drum solo in Frankfurt. Next check out Working Man Live in Clevland (2012). They start the song off different from the studio version, off their first album in 1974 (John Rutsey was the drummer for their first album), they put a Jamaican vibe on it, kind of as an ode to how Jamaican people are known for being hard workers, that have many jobs. They have so many musical influences, Jamaican being one, that it was only fitting that they added that flare to that song.
These guys are musical monsters. Live on stage they will play 5 instruments at one time with only 3 players. Both the guitarist and bass player play pedal synthesizers with their feet so they can fill in the background with all the instruments they need for any particular song.
You have just touched the beginning of a very deep rabbit hole With Rush , Three amazing players , Be ready for so many surprises in their style of music , Dream Theatre , Tool , and many other bands Rush was a huge influence, At the last concert the who who’s of drummers came to the show , Stuart Copeland from the police , The Foo fighters drummer , The Red Hot Chilli peppers Drummer , Danny Carey from Tool , Jethro Tulls drummer and others , At Neil Memorial they all came plus many others ,
This song started out a a Warm up that Neil did to Morse code Geddy joined in and then one day Alex heard them and wanted in. This was born from that. It is actually about what goes on in an airport, the speed of people moving, the slower part is reunions with loved ones.
“A measure of a life is a measure of love and respect…so hard to earn so easily burned”. These guys have earned every ounce of it on and off the stage. Along with being 3 of the greatest musicians in rock they did it for the love of music….not fame and fortune. That just happen to come with it. That’s why they are so loved.
It's Neil pEARt. You just ran into the the greatest drummer to EVER sit down behind a kit. Any solo by this man is absolutely amazing. I started following this man's drumming in 1974 when he joined Rush. I cried for three day when I heard that he had died. 1-7-2020 was a very sad day.
The unusual rhythm played at the beginning of the song is Morse Code for YYZ, the airport code for their hometown of Toronto. They pronounce it "why-why-zed," like the British do.
I forgot to add please do “The Spirit of Radio” one of my favs. Also Neal was not only the drummer, but he wrote all their lyrics as well as 6. or 7 non fiction books. R.I.P. Neil
Classic song working man a badass song to n like most people will say any Neil Peart drum solo will blew your mind RIP to the legend Peart. By the way i pause shit all the time 2 hahha love your enthusiasm man.
Love the Rush reactions from you two! Mandatory songs to do next: La Villa Strangiato - official vevo version Xanadu Exit Stage Left And when you're ready for the 7 part masterpiece lasting 20 minutes: 2112 Official Vevo version - it's a comic book storyboard video with lyrics. It's like watching a movie.
By far the Best Drummer. Got to see all these guys we were Blessed in the 80's. From MOSH to TRASH Punk New Wave, One hit wonders we had it all. Even hair bands for the chicks. Soft rock. Movie themes
Neil did with 4 limbs what most people would need 11 to do! His live drum solo in Frankfurt (Germany) is his grandest video though. If you want to see why he's the GOAT - check that out.
Don't worry about the pausing, that's the whole point of this is to get your reaction. I enjoy watching the videos that y'all put out. Keep up the good work.
Good day to you two 🙋♂ Deep song of RUSH - Red Sector A ( with lyric ) = song about holocaust , Geddy Lee ( singer , bass and keyboard ) parents was survive to holocaust . Neil Peart ( drummer ) deep lyric .. 😎👍🎶✨
That's how 3 people can sound like a 14 piece band. Absolute virtuosos. All 3 of them could have been doctor's, scientists or philosophers. We're all lucky they became Rush.
There are so many great RUSH songs to suggest, but Xanadu live or LA Vita Strangiato live are amazing. 2 songs that, in my opinion, really display their talents individually
I always recommend the same song and honestly, you really can't go wrong with any Live Rush. Or studio albums because it's all good. So I would recommend Natural Science, lyric video and/or Working Man Live in Cleveland. The first is complicated and is pretty deep lyrically. The second song the Live in Cleveland just really showcases each of their incredible talents, as well as, their friendships and how perfect these three were together. ♥♥🎶🎵
Love your Neil enthusiasm!! He's definitely on a class all his own! Although, Geddy and Alex are alright as well. Lol. I mean Geddy manages to throw down some serious basslines, while playing keys and singing Neil's lyrics! One of those things by themselves would be no easy task!! The three of them together always made magic because they had a way of gettin down while complimenting each others instruments. Three nice guys creating something that will last for generations and beyond, while influencing some of the greatest musicians in the industry today. They were never mainstream and still to this day, you will be lucky to hear more than 5 Rush songs on any radio station, but they have one of the largest fanbases. We are everywhere preaching lyrics like, 'changes aren't permanent, but change is" and 'Quick to judge Quick to anger Slow to understand Ignorance and prejudice And fear, walk hand in hand" Rush can do no wrong. Together they are simply magical. RIP Neil.
Neil Peart was a Hell of a drummer but Alex Lifeson is a Hell of a guitar player and Geddy Lee a Hell of a bass player. Geddy Lee often plays both bass and keyboards at the same time with the help of his pedal board. RUSH was a Hell of a band.
Took my gf to see Rush, a few moons ago, she admitted after the show she wasn't really into them but she said the drummer was amazing, "That drummer could play solo for 2 hours, he doesn't even need those other two guys" haha
Boz is on the list down the road for sure! Just getting a few of the major bands under their feet first. Lowdown, Jojo, & Lido Shuffle - all three. Stay tuned! Great suggestion, Jason.
And if you're interested in other 3-piece bands, check out Triumph (another Canadian band)...and the Police. Both of which were big in the late 70's into the mid-80's.
Rush Army In The House. Check out Neil Peart's Drum Solo Live In Frankfurt Germany and you'll see him Play All Them Drums. Xanadu Live Exit Stage Left '81 Is also Epic. When the Crowd sings to an Instrumental You Know You Made It. P.S. You've Got Another Subscriber. Love you Two and the Baby. 😁❤🤘
