I could watch Sarah and listen to her endlessly. The beauty of her soul is only matched by her voice. Seeing her, and hearing her, somehow makes me feel as though everything will be okay.

Best vocalist in history. And her demeanor is so sweet. She seems so sweet. And yes, it's hot up on stage under those lights

She make seamless vocal transitions, effortlessly..changes range & projection without stress or strain..better than almost any other before or since , except for Ellah..with pitch perfect clarity..

I am 81 years old. First heard "Sassy Sarah" as a high school junior on the radio singing "Make yourself Comfortable" I was hooked for the rest of my life. That was 1963

Exactly!!! I'd like to see what it takes for him to get excited about a performance😱. They called her "The Divine One" for a reason!

The Divine One surely had a great voice. Yet another on that passed before I got into jazz music. Would have loved to see her perform live.

The greatest, the greatest of all time. Nobody was/is better. Streisand's got the technique, but Sarah's got the inspiration, the vibe, she touches you, deep down.

I totally love Barbra Streisand but comparing her "technique" to Sarah Vaughn - no comparison. The phrasing that Sarah Vaughn brings to as song, and it's going to be different each time, is amazing. I do ❤️ Barbra but there is no way she had the technique nor versatility nor musicality of Sarah Vaughn. Barbra had a great and unique tone and great power but give her a song and she's going to sing it with the same melody (for the most part), same exact phrasing (as it was originally written) every single time.

She got that New Jersey girl sass. Lots of great talents from Newark, New Jersey and this woman leads the pack, followed by Whitney Houston. She makes it look so easy.

Just an FYI, back then the stage lights were extremely hot and radiated heat onto the performers. It's very common to see singers from back then sweating on concert stages. Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald even carried handkerchiefs on stage to mop away the sweat!

The hot lights and the big wig is also what's making her sweat. Sarah also stated that she has a cold probably had a fever as well. I'm not sure whether Sarah or Nat King Cole is the originator of this classic song.

Don't pass over Sarah Vaughn until you listen to Sassys Blues, or the" How Long has this been going on" album. Misty was her attemptt at being a pop singer. It's not indicative of her true nature as a Jazz Singer.

Sarah was always sweating on stage just like Whitney did.
@fredalwatkins4506

Sarah is my favorite singer of all time but she was alcoholic, a chain smoker and a drug addict. Cocaine was a major part of her life. That was probably responsible for a lot of her sweating. Amazing that she kept her voice with her habits
@geoffwells5633

It was originally an instrumental written by the great Errol Garner, both Nat and Sarah covered it both in their own inimitable style but Sarah for me nails it

@Nichelle Taylor I’m sorry that I have obviously missed a lot! I didn’t know that you sang! And jazz too?! WOW! I’m very interested in enjoying your work. Did someone say that you have a channel? How can I get there?

No apologies lady. LOL. I’m out at a rehearsal now awaiting my turn to practice with my pianist - and I happened to check back here and see your sweet comment. Yes I have a tiny channel just for fun that I occasionally dump videos on whenever I’m not working or running around like a madwoman. 😅 I’ve only started to post more recently. Simply clicking on my little pic to the left here will take you there. As a courtesy to Sir Jammin’ I’ve been careful to not overtly self promote on this channel since I’m here for fun and to support him…but since you asked.😇Thx.😘
