Ben's voice is insane. One of my main gripes with death metal and deathcore is vocalists often go so low that they're completely unintelligible. Ben somehow can go low without losing all enunciation.

@Nitu Kalita Immortal is way heavier than this song, I wasn’t saying they sounded the same or anything. I was just saying that I think they set the standard for modern deathcore, and both of them include elements of what a lot of bands are doing right now. Malediction has that super clean and melodic phrasing, the symphonic elements, the clean vocals, and the emotional/dark atmosphere a lot of deathcore bands are doing right now. Immortal has the black metal elements, the super epic and grand sound, the slammy sections, the dumb heavy breakdown, and also the symphonic elements. Both of them are executed and written perfectly with these elements, which is why I believe they are the definitive songs in the genre atm

Love Shadow of Intent. Ben Duerr (vocalist) is one of the best. Chris Wiseman (guitarist) , is also in Currents. You should definitely check them out if you haven't.

Sugar or Epilogue by Fleshgod Apocalypse is a must. Absolute masters of symphonic death metal and they helped Shadow of Intent with the orchestral elements of this album!

Shadow of Intent is one of the few Deathcore bands that I like. Especially love the instrumental versions of their albums... I would like to suggest something a little different for you to react. Some epic finnish melodic death metal: Wolfheart - The Flood.

I love Shadow of Intent ! To me it really sounds like they get a lot of their musical inspiration and sound from the norwegian symphonic/black metal scene i.e DIMMU BORGIR, so go check them out "Gateways"

I'm not super acquainted with this band really, and I'm sure someone may have already hinted at this, but their name, "Shadow of Intent", is the name of one of the space ships from Halo 3's main campaign. That's how I originally found them, but I love specifically their very impressive vocals, very fast rhythms and piano portions. Their stuff overall is just generally awesome though.

Check out the mad Tyrant's betrayal. The whole reclaimer album is about Halo and I really dig that. I always like music with a story. I think melancholy has a story too. Dont think its based off anything its it's own thing.

The cleans are the guitar player. Impossible to pick one other song to react to, they refuse to make bad music. Anything off Reclaimer you can find a video too will suffice but the breakdown in Heretic Prevails is one of the filthiest displays of vocals you will ever hear. Underneath a Sullen Moon from Melancholy is a banger. Enjoy!

Ben toned down his vocals a lot on this album, in terms of range. He still sounds amazing here but if you like variation you should check out some songs from their previous album, Reclaimer, where he gives a more balls to the wall approach. And if you want to hear him being just fucking disgusting go listen to his other band Hollow Prophet. Also, Chris, the guitarist, does those "clean" vocals.
