I was 13 in Toronto and remember this song and The Joker by the Steve Miller Band when we participated in ‘Miles for Millions’ walkathon where we got sponsors and walked 30 miles in a day to raise $ for developing countries 💕

In his obituary of Rafferty for the January 5, 2011 issue of the , Martin Chilton said of this song that it was written as a parody of Bob Dylan's paranoia, it ridiculed a music industry cocktail party, with the lyrics: Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the Right, Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

From K-Billy's Super Sounds Of The 70's comes this "Dylanesque pop bubblegum favorite from April of 1974." This song will forever be linked to that heart-in-your-throat scene in 'Resevoir Dogs,' where Mr. Blonde proceeds to torture a cop, not for information, but because it "amuses him to torture cops." Classic Tarantino!

Whether you think it's a scene like Darth Vader telling Skywalker "I'm your father" in Return of the Jedi, the shower scene from Psyco, or Kong on top of the skyscraper in King Kong, or anything else for that matter is subjective. I've seen this scene listed in many lists by other people, entertainment websights, movie critic websights, etc. So I'm definitely not the only one who thinks very highly of the scene. If you think it's rubbish, that's OK, you're entitled to your opinion.

I have a deep voice and sometimes people miss some of the things i say and i used to have long hair and a lot of facial hair and I keep it short now and I’m not a mumbling type I just think people couldn’t see my lips move. Anyway I’m 40 now I’m more talking about when I was 20-25. I have a 17 almost 18 year old son. And I’m married, not to his mother. Do you guys have kids or are you married? To each other I meant obviously.

Love this song. In 1972 Gerry Rafferty was in the Scottish folk rock band Stealers Wheel & had a big hit with "Stuck In The Middle With You" & "Star". Later on, he went out on his own & then had the big hits "Baker's Street", "Right Down The Line" & "Night Owl".

Yeah it could be a co-worker for example. He doesn't sound too happy about it but what's interesting is the music sounds really upbeat and casual, in contrast. Asia picking out steel guitar now, that's great. I don't know if you have ever seen the Quentin Tarantino movie Reservoir Dogs, which is a hilarious and fantastic movie although it is pretty gritty. But anyway, the most suspenseful and terrifying scene in the whole movie has this song playing as happy music in the background and it is highly disturbing. Most of us that have seen that movie can never listen to this classic song in quite the same way again, laugh.

I think it's a regular guitar played with a slide, not a steel guitar (I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure). I played in cover bands for 20 years and haven't played that much slide but one of our other members did. It can sound very similar to a steel guitar but steel guitar players usually have metal finger picks on their fingers whereas slide guitar players are not as likely to. The difference is subtle.

This song is in Quentin Tarantino's first movie, Reservoir Dogs. A mobster dances around a tied up cop to this song while dowsing him with gas and cutting his ear off. Sounds terrible but has some dark humor. You'll like the movie.

A lot of people think this is a Bob Dylan song. Others have told you the story on that - they wrote it as a parody of his voice. I guess it worked too well.
