I do indeed think he is the greatest of all time. it was in a SRV tribute video a bunch of blues players made where BB king said something to an effect of "he was amazing. when i solo i play a little piece here and there and let the melody breath. Steve could channel an hour long solo on the spot i never seen anything like it, it was like he was channeling it it right out of the air."

@@jamesrussell8571 , I'm a huge fan of SRV for sure, that's what brought me here after all (besides being a sub to MrLboyd). What makes him unique, set aside his amazing skills on the guitar, is the unit his playing and vocals compose, I don't know how to put it better, it's like his voice is just another layer on his guitar (or v.v.). Yet I disgust absolutisms, that's why I opposed. There's so much talent out there, on any instrument, many of whom we maybe never hear of (it is easier nowadays though with the internet, in my days it was mainly the industry who decided what I was going to listen...). Just today I ran across a wild young lady from Bali. Indonesians seem to be highly musical folks in gereral, but this girl is fierce. If you don't know her yet, check out Ayu Gusfanz as well... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t3jbDbahtrI.html

How cool is that? Before he does get a really big gig going on, play him Stevie Ray talking to the audience, gently imploring young people to leave drugs alone, and not to “...stay too long at the party...it’ll kill ya...”. Stevie spent the last five or so years clean and sober. Pretty amazing as he was once near death because of d&a...

@EvilHero check out a young Australian guy named Taj Farrant, or a young British guy named Toby Lee. Joe Bonamassa has had Toby Lee play with his band several times. Awesome! Stevie Ray was the real deal, the genuine article! Full on Texas blues. Appreciate you doing this. Hope you do more of his. Gone much too soon, sadly missed.

He and BB King were good friends and even BB said that SRVs guitar playing was next level. I'm going to mess up the quote but it was basically: BB King: "When I play, I play a little bit and then I have to wait for the next little bit to come to me. With Stevie, he was like a conduit to God. From God to Stevie, out his fingers to the rest of us"

SRV was the greatest blues guitarist of all time IMHO. If you haven’t seen him before, you’re in for a treat if you explore his catalogue. Nice reaction 🌺✌️

Now that you have lost your Vaughanginity, you need to see him converse with you using an electric guitar. Next should be his cover of his hero Jimi Hendrix's tune Voodoo Chile (live at austin city limits). Then synch up your jock strap and do Texas Flood live at the Mocambo! You're not ready for this!

One of the highlights of my life was seeing him perform live about 2 weeks before the copter crash. What a loss to the blues.

BB King - I've said that playing the blues is like having to be black twice. Stevie Ray Vaughan missed on both counts, but I never noticed.

Stevie is a force of nature, a masterpiece of art, a humble icon - a player of such raw skill and technical ability and soul he will blow the top of your mind off...Texas Flood - Live at El Mocambo - no need to waste any time - go right to it.

You’ll want to react to Stevie performing “Texas Flood” live at the El Mocambo. The whole El Mocambo gig is outstanding. Jimmy Hendrix was a huge influence on Stevie as was B.B. KIng and Albert King. Stevie pays homage to Jimmy by covering Jimmy’s iconic songs, “VooDoo Child” and “Little Wing”.
