And when he says "at night a candle's brighter than the sun," this is another Shakespeare quote that means when everyone around you is behaving or performing badly, it takes very little to do better. There's no light from the sun at night, so in that case even a single candle flame is bright.

Sting is largely responsible for bringing Branford Marsallis (brother of Wynton, trumpet player) the Sax player into prominence, he was already established but gained a wider audience. Sting has helped launch Trumpet player Chris Botti into stardom also. Sting is great friends with Shaggy also. Both Sting and Chris Botti are still touring and active in 2024! Check out his vast back catalogue from his days in The Police.

Albums "Bring on the Night" "Nothing Like the Sun" "Dream of the Blue Turtles" and "One Night in Paris" all have some jazz influences. There is a documentary film "Bring on the Night" as well coving his first solo debut with the same album. It is a fantastic film for the music and some of the incites on his process.
