Great breakdown as always, welcome to SOAD! I'd be shocked if you hadn't heard some of their big songs on the radio in the mid 2000s, most likely BYOB or Chop Suey. I think these guys should be classified as folk-metal. They incorporate a ton of Armenian folk music traits, and are activists on behalf of Armenia. My favorite song of theirs is easily "Radio Video" thanks to the amazing vocal harmonies but they have a lot of great songs.
"when angels deserve to dieeeeeeee" You've probably heard of Chop Suey(just not by name, plus a few others were really popular. Surprised you hadn't heard this one at all).
Spiders is an amazing one from their silf titled.debut album. They knocked it out of the park on Conan in 2000 for their TV network debut, you should check it out.
Time signatures are so hard for me. I heard 6/8 through most of the song, then that last few bars sounded like simple 4/4. ... but i've only got grade 6 - 12 band, so I have limited music theory knowledge.
Polyrhythms, syncopation…… check out Tool… Lateralus is usually a little later down the line but you will get it…it also involves the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio… enjoy
Cheers to listening to new things! You asked if you knew him from else where.... Ill guess you probably havent, just because theres so much music out there we dont know.....unless you digging in and looking. The video is of him performing with Tina Guo. Completely different style....its a beautiful song! Goose bumps all throughout. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TSR7qr42TF4.htmlsi=37mnjUETk3JkLnYT
TRUTH,😊 when anyone says they haven't heard this song or SOAD...I believe them wholeheartedly because once you do hear them you NEVER forget them or the experience of their music style.❤🖖✌
Consider this at 4:20 you think its 4 timing. However might i suggest you go back and realize its 6/8 with off beats creating the 4 4 the whole song switches between 6/8 and 2/4. Lol im a drummer and no timing escapes me.
As I said, it's likely 12/8. The accent pattern makes it feel like the meter changed like you said, but it likely did not. Again, can't confirm either way unless you can see the sheet music for the original song.
SOAD are an absolutely amazing band-with Serj Tankian being one of my top 3 favorite vocalists of all time! I'd be interested to hear what you thought of some of his solo work, specifically a song called Lie, Lie, Lie that he performed live with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra. 🤘🏻♥️♾️
First time seeing this channel, but I love it, straight into it and interesting reflections. You might’ve heard their song Chop Suey! It was huge and I think that might be where you recognise the voice. Great job man!
I've know about SOAD for a long time and loved them the first time I heard them. I just... connect with the music. Or it connects with me. Not sure which, not really sure it matters. Serj (the lead singer) is an incredibly talented and skilled musician, as they all are. I absolutely love their music. My first time watching your channel, too. Hi. Glad you got a chance to discover these guys, they are awesome.
wow until 3weeks ago, never heard of soad.. lol EES been taking u on a music journey.. this band is one of the best nu metal bands, pretty much ever really. its still so good compared to anything really, they had depth and serj's magical voice back in the day
Perhaps the wrong video to comment, but did see you eeacted to a PMJ video. Hailey Reinhart is an amazing one to watch there- i would recommend "Creep" And also "paint it black" that one is a masterpice too. Love the reacts ❤️
I've loved System Of A Down since the 90s when they came out. Serj Tankian, their lead singer has supposedly lost his vocals. They have a few songs that are, meh, pk. But then they have some songs that are mind blowing.
