My favorite song of all time. Time stood still (still does) and I must have played it 15 times in a row when I first played that album through at 2 AM back in late '94. A timeless classic that just floats.

He and Marc Ford changed the future of that band in 1992 and allowed them to grow musically. It never would have happened if Chuck Leavell didn't suggest Eddie and they didn't go shopping for a new lead player and stumble into Marc Ford whose band opened for them in 1991.

The whole "Amorica" album is just brilliant. I heard it by accident and bought it on the spot. Never heard any other black crowes, and I'm really a funk / Hip Hop guy, but you cant front on quality music 🖤

The previous album is fairly funky too. And the next one has a few funk/soul moments. They have a disco rock song called I Ain't Hidin' that's awesome too

You must like P.25 London. One of the songs I've really disliked in their catalog. Had potential. If you're even halkf curious, check out Lost Crowes. Two tasty unreleased albums one from 1993 and another from 1997 with more gems.

I saw them on their first tour 30 years ago with the "Shake Your Moneymaker" album. My ears rang for 3 days after. The were so good, but so friggin' loud. They played in our outdoor arena this time around.

Amorica is such an underrated album. I always get to the end of it and forget about this song until it comes on. It definitely speaks to my own depression. Cursed Diamond is amazing as well

That is a dulcimer that Rich Robinson is playing the slide on. A dulcimer is an old Appalachian lap type guitar type string instrument, not usually seen outside of bluegrass.

I took a black gf to a Crowes show and she was like"Why are you taking me to a sho of white people music?" I said, Give it something. It's got more soul than the average hiphop LP. She laughed at me. We haven't dated in aged but she still trades BC bootlegs with me and we still love each other over the music.

My favorite band of the 90s. They blend country blues, blues rock, rhythm and blues, and gospel together. They take cues from the Rolling Stones, The Faces with Rod Stewart, Humble Pie, and a little Led Zep and Nick Drake.

Black Crowes were a phenomenal band. Too bad in-fighting led to their demise. BUT - they left us with an incredible catalogue of music. So much for you to explore with this band. Literally every song on their first two albums are gems. After that, you will still get multiple classics on each album. They have amazing rockers, but for more soulful songs like this one, I’d suggest Oh Josephine and Seeing Things for the First Time.

Ya know musicians already know… it’s an illusion that we are all different. Black and white or whatever… we are the same. We MUST be the same, how can we be different? Skin? Come on… What black people have right, and what white people have right right and what Asians and native Americans and middle eastern people have right is the same! It’s “god” if you want to call it that… it’s the very essence of our souls we are one spirit. It’s what we all have fucked up that’s different! And that’s just bullshit anyway… Close your eyes and feel the spirit. It’s one heart beat of love… just go color blind, nationality blind… close your eyes. What does your soul feel? One heart beat… We need to wake up and stop the silliness and just make this world what it’s meant to be. We are beautiful, every damn one of us is beautiful…

For me their initial version of this song is better. This one is the version from Amorica. They recorded it before that and scrapped it however years later the initial version was released on the Lost Crowes double CD. That version has great background gospel style vocals.
