It's about time this was suggested and now someone needs to suggest their mega gem "Write A Letter to Myself" This was the short version, because the long version is about 3 days long....Lol
Simply magnificent, majestic my friend. What more is there to say? This is from an album titled A Lonely Man in 1972,I still have it.What a magnificent vocal group, this song is a magnum opus.Would you believe that they wrote all their songs?Eugene Record, the leader and lead singer, together with Barbara Acklin, wrote these gems.Allow me to keep you busy doing some more reaction vids of the Chilites. They are as follows, She Ain't Too Much of Nothin'(But just enough of everything), Being In Love, It's Time For Love, Too Good To Be Forgotten,Love At Its Best,Happy Bei ng Lonely and I Turn Away. You should probably start with It's Time For Love and you can give us three reaction videos in one presentation.Looking forward to your reaction ASAP.Well done.
Agreed. A song of loosing the love of his life to early death, after drifting apart, before they could be together again. This sadly had really happened to Chi Lites lead singer Eugene Record.
You are truly pulling at my heartstrings😍 I was just thinking about seeing them in 1974. My dad's secretary took me and my sister to see them. The album this song comes from was so amazing. It came out the Summer of '72 and honestly I can hardly listen to it because the memories are so good it's too much😍😍😍
This has got to be one of the most beautiful songs about heartbreak ever. This song came out when I was in my early teens. Like JJ, I paid more attention to the music. As I got older and more experienced in love, I paid more attention to the lyrics. The lyrics, music and sound effects. WOW!
It's a song about heartbreak from early death of the love of one's life after a breakup. This had actually happened to Eugene Record, Chi Lites lead singer, so the pain in his voice when he sang this was no act, but very real.
Rainada oh big hugs & kisses for this long over due. Glad it's been requested the most deep and sad song ever recorded yes parts 1& 2 the longer version is the best thank you beautiful request ❤️🤎💜💙🧡
Rainada, thank you for pulling this classic out of the crates. Jammin often stated that the saxophone is his favorite instrument. For me although I love a good bassline, I would have to say that the 'violin' for me adds so much of a feeling to a song. The Chi-Lites as a group is near and dear to my heart because they were the first R&B group that I heard on WWRL 1600AM. The song was "Oh Girl" which touched me in ways that even the Motown groups couldn't.....
I think Eugene Record's voice is very expressive..he knew how to interpret a song, and that interpretation helped to create the mood of whatever song he sung...he really knew how to interpret the slow songs! What a voice he had!
Yes finally, so thanks Rainada and jammin for doing it. One of my all time favorites and in my opinion one of the saddest but most beautiful songs ever made. Never got enough airplay though back then.
💖I absolutely love these guys!! What a great selection!👍🏽👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽the writing, arrangements, harmonies & showmanship is/was beyond perfection!!!👌🏽🙌🏽Thank u JJ🫶🏽
@@leroywilliams6380 I don't know, I think the pain intensifies the love. If it's real, you almost can't have one without the other and the Chi-Lites fully representing these feelings with Oh Girl, A Letter To Myself, Have you Seen Her. Do you think people still love like that?
Back in the days, each artist and producer was trying to come as close to perfection as possible, as you have seen with songs like this, "Have You Seen Her", The Temptations' "Just My Imagination" and "Firefly", "Shoe Shoe Shine" (The Dynamic Superiors), "Baby Come Close" (Smokey Robinson), "Forever Mine" (The O'Jays) and various others you have discovered going back in time. A song about heartbreak in the context of loosing the love of one's life to death after a breakup. This has got to be one of the saddest pop songs ever written. It's no ordenary breakup song!
