I have suffered from severe depression most of my life and contemplated suicide several times. The best thing anyone has ever said to me was that 'suicide does not end the pain. It only gives your pain to someone you love.' I still have bad bouts of depression, but I have never considered suicide again.

This song really makes me think of my friend who I lost to suicide on September 1. It’s so hard to think of her and feel like I could’ve done something. Thank you for your reaction. It’s good to know someone with a platform is using it to try to help people. You’re truly a gift to this world

TheOfficer450 I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my sister to suicide in 1991. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. I know you’ve likely heard this before, but once someone makes up their mind to go there is rarely anything that we can do or say to stop them. Also, I think it’s important not to beat yourself up over it. There will always be questions that we can’t answer, but at the same time our loved ones honestly want us to stay strong and carry on with our lives. I’m certain that’s what your friend would want for you. Whatever was tormenting your friend is over now for her or him. They are at peace now. I truly believe that with all my heart. Take care of yourself, sweetie. 💖💖💖

@@turdferguson400 i was going to say that same thing. sometimes there are some actions we can take that make a difference. but, honestly, if someone is determined there's nothing anybody can do. as j says "don't go blaming yourself". @TheOfficer450, your experience with your late friend has perhaps shown you what some signs of suicidal thoughts might look like, so perhaps you might spot them if you encounter them again. but your friend wanted to get off this crazy ride called life, so she did what she felt she had to do... be gentle with yourself, @TheOfficer450.

I can't listen to this song without crying. I've been the one who needed someone to listen so many times (and have had people who will). If you haven't seen Scrubs, they use it in an episode and it's so powerful in that context.

This song hits the hardest if you can relate to it. A few years ago, a friend of mine was so angry at me one night over a decision I made,something that seemed completely trivial. I couldn't understand why he was so mad about it, and said no when he asked to come over and grab some food. I was so drained by it I said no and put him off until the next day. The next day never came. Completely unexpected, no one at all saw it coming and a lot of confusion from people afterwards. The guilt that I should've questioned the extreme reaction more still weigh on me at times and I know the guy he spoke to after me feels the same. Not even his family had even a hint that anything was wrong never mind gone so far. Little signs, that's what I tell people to look for now, little out of character signs.

I did, of 28 years in December 2nd 2020. Gone in 6 weeks, my rock, my most dearest oldest friend, the most truly humane person I have ever met outside of my parents. I couldn't even visit her because covid is v. high risk to me but my daughter and our dear friend's husband were with her to the end. They have known my daughter since she was 6 months old, which is when we met and became friends. She changed our lives forever by being there and now we are changed forever because she is not. She was so genuinely good, it hurts massively still, of course; for a long time yet. Nothing could save her but oh I wish I could hug her, tell her I love her so much and couldn't have got through the previous almost 28 years without her, just once more. The first really close loved one I have lost. Still have both ma n pa and sibs. But I miss her, we ALL miss her and our hearts are full of her. Every day. RIP our Beautiful Dawnie. xxx
