The story behind the flag is that Sin thought that Sol Badguy's iconic weapon was really cool so he asked Sol for a cool weapon like his. Sol sarcastically told him to "Go wave a flag or something" and Sin took it literally.

I love that it works. The flag looks so cool in motion. They weren't able to make it happen in Xrd but they pulled it off here and it's beautiful.

@@HandOfVecna1188that's because the flag in xrd was tucked in, sort of meant to represent sin still tucking himself in from his own emotions and what he truly wants, mainly being forced around by Sol. But now that he's free with his family, he does whatever whenever and he's far more of a free accomplished soul

Sin Kiske is what happens when you make a golden retriever into a person and then give that person superpowers. He is stupid optimism personified, empowered by the belief that everything will work out in the end because, from his perspective, it usually does. His background is... bizarre to put it mildly. He's technically less than ten years old, but aged rapidly because his mother is Dizzy, who was herself born from the Gear known as Justice. He was born from an egg rather than live birth, and was genuinely confused to learn other people were not born in the same way. His notable feats include fighting alongside Sol Badguy against some of the most powerful people in the world, earning himself a massive bounty on his head, as well as convincing an emotionless Gear in service to a genocidal AI to abandon her cause of destroying humanity by giving her a hamburger. Yes, really.

Oh and fun fact. Sin uses a flag because Sol jokingly suggested he "go wave a flag". Sin took it entirely seriously. Fun fact part two: Part of Ky's old theme Holy Orders makes an appearance in the guitar solo near the end of this song. It also shows up in Ky's new theme, Roar of the Spark.
@cn4090
@cn4090 Год назад
Fun fact part three: Sin is half gear because of his mom, so he's currently 5 years old despite looking like a ripped 23 year old. That's because gear DNA has him grow quickly.

The Holy Orders connection is why I've tried a couple of times to get our esteemed host to listen to Holy Orders first, then Roar of the Spark and this song. I think it's one of the coolest pieces of musical storytelling I've ever heard.

This is one of my favorite gym songs, it's so simple and uplifting. To me it's about not wasting time blaming others for your problems and taking action to better your life. The phrase"Let's make failure my friend" hits hardest, accepting that failure is a part of life and to use it as a learning experience. Since the pandemic I've been working out to lose weight and the GGS soundtrack was a massive inspiration, many of the themes talking about moving forward in life, finding meaning, and sounding sick as hell.

Sin is the youngest playable character and the son of Ky Kyske and has struggled with his feelings towards his father since he practically dumped him onto Sol ( Ky's father in law through a lot of hoops ) , who raised him for most of his life until Strive , which led Sin to adopt the mentality of "what's done is done so let's just move forward" . The reason why Ky dumped Sin onto Sol is because Ky had Sin with Dizzy , a Gear , the race which Ky fought in a fucking crusade agaisnt , add on top of that the fact that Ky is also a king and it led to Ky being overwhelmed and he just ended up dumping him on Sol and just sending Sol money to raise Sin

People have already explained the reason for the flag so I might as well add that he isn't very patriotic or anything, his flag isn't a national flag and in Strive his flag just seems to simply represent his favorite clothing brand.

This is probably the most underrated theme imo, like having a piano and guitar solo is so cool and the lyrics are cute Collective downplaying of sin ingame and his music

The reasoning behind the flag is resoundingly stupid. Sin asked Sol for a cool weapon. Sol responded with "why don't you just wave a flag around?" And so he did, the end

This is probably my overall favorite song from the OST. Like you said, it's relatively straightforward compared to something like "Drift" but the guitar playing is SO GOOD and it's a feel-good song. I especially love the piano that drops in out of nowhere, fires off a sweet solo, and then is never heard again - that would seem super weird in a lot of other contexts but in this song it totally works. One little thing that I think is cool is how the only time the song ever stops moving is right before the piano solo, when he says "that's why I never stop." When he says "stop" it actually stops the entire song for a single beat, then the piano brings us right back up to full speed. That one beat punctuates the central theme of the lyrics beautifully and grabs our attention so we're ready for the unexpected piano. Things like that are why I think a good song will have more power than an equally good poem 100% of the time.

Sin Kiske is the son of Ky Kiske and Dizzy. Dizzy is a gear and Ky is a human making Sin part gear part human. Despite appearances he's actually only 5 years old, but one trait about gears is that they only take 3 years to fully mature and then they stay in their prime for a really long time. Sol Badguy is a gear and is almost 200 years old and still looks the same as when he was human. Sin still has a lot to learn about the world but he also has a lot of moments being wise beyond his years. His character is sort of representative of a shift in the Guilty Gear world after the carnage brought by a century of war. The offspring of a forbidden love between man and gear, and not just any man or gear but 2 of the strongest of their respective kind. He'll definently grow up to do amazing things. When he was 6 months old he was actually handed off to Sol Badguy to raise becauze Ky wasn't doing very well, so Sol has rubbed off on him in a lot of ways that make him feel more like Sol than his actual dad in a lot of ways. Nowadays he's back living with Ky and Dizzy tho

Sin has a flag because he wanted a cool, flashy weapon, his mentor mocked his saying to "Go wave a flag", and he took that literally, because Sin Kiske is not a smart man.

Why Sin fights with a flag is the easiest thing to explain in Guilty gear. One day Sin asked his grandpa to train him his to fight. His grandpa told to get a weapon nothing fit him. He declares he wants a weapon that shouts his beleifs, passion, and was stylish. His Grandpa sarcastically tells he should fight with a flag.

So uh to describe Sin would be the phrase "big of heart, dumb of ass". He's the son of Ky and Dizzy (a popular GG character who isn't playable in strive currently), and because of Dizzy he's half gear. Because of that while he looks full grown hes actually only like 5. He basically lives his life trying to stay happy, push ahead, and keep others happy so the hourglass is a perfect description for him.
