The Mark Of Cain - Interloper. Recorded Live @ Channel [V] Headquarters 18/04/2001. From the 1995 release "Ill At Ease". This is "The Mark Of Cain" from Adelaide, South Australia (home of jimmy barnes and where John farnham started out at 17) The Mark of Cain's (also seen as the initialism, TMOC) style has been likened to that of "Helmet" and "Rollins Band", yet this band pre-dates both groups by years. henry Rollins produced their biggest album, "ILl at ease" TMOC was influenced by the early work of Joy Division, Big Black and United States hardcore groups. The Mark of Cain were formed in mid-1984 by brothers, John (guitar) and Kim Scott (bass guitar). The Scotts have been the core of the band which has featured 15 different drummers over nearly 4 decades. in January 2001, former "Helmet" member John Stanier joined as drummer; he was also concurrently with Tomahawk and Battles. Eli Green now tours with the band fulfilling the drumming duties. (Eli wasnt even born when the band was formed!) Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, described the group's sound as "Gloomy, monotonous vocals and bleak slabs of metallic guitar did battle over a lurching rhythm section to arrive at a harsh sound." I call it "Militaristic Metal" due to the nature of the rhythms.. My FAVOURITE band, I've known these guys personally since i was 19, when they rehearsed in rehearsal rooms i lived in. and they are the mildest, meekest guys you could meet, just lovely.. not "hardcore" at all.. They were even "MOds" with vespas in the 80s haha please ensure you list their website in the description so they get some promotion/benefit from the reaction.. love love love you guys..
