This song is about using social media to recruit people for nefarious reasons. Dany's voice is meant to portray the leadership, and Pau is used as a responder to the call.
Here is a quote from Pau: "So Disciple is about social media and how opinions are bought on social media and are fed to us in a way that we don’t even know. And how by breeding ignorance and cultivating hate people gain a lot of power and money. So that’s what Disciple is about. I saw a lot of people confused with the video, like “why are you the system and you’re telling people to kill the system?”, well we’re not the system, we (the military characters in the music video) are someone who is buying your opinion without you even knowing about it. So Disciple was a whole process to write about, but I’m so happy with the song and it’s a topic I’m really passionate about, so go stream Disciple, go check it out, the video was so much fun to record and it’s a good song, it’s so much fun to play, I find it really funny that I’m saying that it’s a good song, it’s my song, but it was really one of my favorite songs to write, I put a lot of thought into it and Daniella and I worked relentlessly to get everything across, so glad people are enjoying it." - Paulina Villarreal
I've been a fan since the 2023 VMAs where I was overwhelmed by the band's energy, showmanship, creativity, and stage presence. I missed the broadcast so I was watching the performances on RU-vid. As I scrolled through the vids everything was the same old thing. Then I got to Evolve and was floored, riveted to the screen, transfixed, in awe,I realized you are unbelievably talented and worthy! When you, Pau, let out that scream it almost brought me to tears of joy. As I learned more about you, as a father and grandfather I especially like how you and your sisters' mastery of your instruments has progressed over the last 10 years. And how each of you has matured in every way. Thanks for explaining the meaning of Disciple and it's message. Your songs have insightful messages and I appreciate your help getting to their point. The Warning makes my day. I love watching the reaction videos to see how professional musicians, coaches, roadies, and others tell me all of the ways the band excels. Thanks for your talent and energy. Keep me amazed. @LS1234
This is possibly their best ever music video. They do an incredible job on these. This one, XI Century Blood, Enter Sandman, Qué Más Quieres. Why does a choice have to be made? On this video, it would have far surpassed the Teatro performance, if their Teatro performance wasn’t their best live performance ever, until HYCAD at Pepsi Centre.
@@jasonremy1627True. One of their better ones in that the video helps folks interpret the lyrics, much like 21st CB. Still, sonically and visually, Teatro Metro bitch slaps this version. Edit to add: it took me a second to parse your last bit. Absolutely agree… AND, not OR. I recommend everyone watch everything by TW. Multiple times! 😉 It’s just that reactors will often only do one version of a song, why not make it the best?
Many have said that you should now react to the live version of DISCIPLE at Teatro Metropolitan. You will see just how great they are at taking a studio version and turning into absolute FIRE! Both Dany and Pau sing (and she does some pretty incredible drum fills while singing!), Alé drives the song with that mesmerizing bass line, and Dany shows you how to Own the crowd… It’s nothing less than spectacular
Disciple is one of the best rock songs ever written. The Warning have the brilliant ability to be just vague enough in their writing to allow for many interpretations of their songs.
You two need to do any song from Teatro Metropolitan 2022 even if it's for a second time.. we all will still be here. Better than that just do the entire concert even break it down into halfway one day and that another. You all are great, we will be there ❤⚡⚡⚡🎶
Teatro, Teatro, Teatro. gotta do the live performance from Teatro. Maybe in the future if you're reacting to an OMV thats not live you can also react to a live version. We like 2fers. By the way, from all the reaction videos I've watched, your reaction to Q+Q was the best.
This is a great song and video my first TW was the live version and I was hooked especially when I saw Pau doing a fill while singing on the Pau cam rewound it twice to be sure it was real. "Remain in your space of ignorance" is the last lyric the meaning is don't follow blindly on social media etc make decisions for yourself. Great reaction TW rock 🔥⚡
& to all the fans: The Warning put a lot of time and effort into an awesome music video because …. They want people to watch it! & maybe reactors watch the music video because they want to see all the time and effort the band puts into their music videos! Maybe we give the “wrong video” stuff a rest. There is no wrong TW video.
I'm going to say it too. Now watch this song live at Teatro Metropolitan. You can really see and hear how Pau can sing flawlessly while pounding that drum kit of hers. Blows me away every time. 🔥 🔥 🔥
@@LeRoy-z5f absolutely. Dani and Pau are great but you can see the effort. Ale makes it look effortless. Even at 13, she was close to note perfect. And she gets no credit in Evolve because she gets on with laying down the groove, to let her sisters shine.
I will recommend you guys to watch this live. The best live recording is the entire Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 2022 concert (CDMX= Mexico City). Disciple live absolute 🔥🤘 .....the entire concert is.
It’s about thinking for oneself, in particular not following people on social media blindly. Great reaction guys. They dropped a new song this morning called “Burnout”
Love this band. I believe its about social media and how people get sucked into their own little groups and isolate themselves from any outside opinions.
Check out the live version as well if you can. This one is great because you can tell which sister is dinging whivh part. It's more difficult to decipher in the Teatro performance 😊
Not only are the people playing the roles of disciples in TWA, the second character playing a guard with a baton is Mony the mother of D P and A. This is a song which still gets better and better. First time I heard it I thought it was good, but every time I listen to it I like it more (no pun). It´s an awesome song and fits well together with their recent productions. It is timeless. And you guys are hilarious to watch when reacting to them.
While The Warning make awesome music videos, they are best live. Greatly looking forward to seeing them for my 5th time. The smallest act of kindness can have a huge positive impact.
They just announced their USA tour for summer this year. Do yourself a favor and buy tickets for as many concerts as you can go. You will never regret it
Always slightly concerned when reactors watch these music videos of the Warning that they may think these girls won't be able to reproduce these songs live..... But I know you guys know better than that! You should back to back this with the Live version from Theatro Metropolitan.
One of the first songs I listened to when I really got into The Warning in October 2022. I had seen some fancams of concerts earlier in the year, however.
I'm in this cafeteria EVERY time you play The Warning ⚡⚡⚡ 🎯 Following the wrong thing. Or at least beware of what is influencing your decisions, a lot of money is being spent to tell you what to think. 🤔 Great reaction again. I love your guys style. I LOVE THIS BAND !! 🔥⚡🔥⚡🔥⚡🔥 ✌️💖🎼
I do wish that if you do do a studio version of a song whether it's a OMV or a lyric video that you also check out the live version as well... you miss so much by not checking out the live performance
Yep, I have no clue, but the immersion in social media is dangerous without self thought, and appropriately, I am having lunch right now, in the "cafeteria"....🤣🤣, Thanks guys, well done
“Magma like” is pretty appropriate given that Ale specified the finish on her custom Spector to look like molten lava, and it is called Ale’s Inferno by the company. 😎👍
TW just released a new single, titled Burnout, from the upcoming album Keep Me Fed, which is due out on June 28th. So far there is a lyric video. I think they are working on a music video which should be coming in he next couple of weeks, based on their past history with OMVs.
Excellent reaction guys! You are pretty close. From drummer Paulina - Disciple is a song about social media, right? and how opinions are bought in social media and are fed to us in a way that we don't even know and how by like feeding ignorance and cultivating hate, like people gain a lot of power and money So that's what Disciple is about 🗣 Great job! 🤘😊
I joined the army last week, fun watching you two react exactly the way I am. I was just about gave up on new music. Ive already bought rocklahoma tickets.
OK, my friendly cafeteria crew, I can say this: I’ve seen them perform this song six times across 4 venues, and they are tremendous. The Teatro Metropolitan series from Mexico City shows what they can do, as it is them live with well mixed house audio. All of that said, they are meticulous musicians who work very hard to get the right sound. Dany for example explains how she spent a year working on her pedal setup in a video you can watch. And that was before the Kemper. This song is where Numberly Garfs comes from. 🔥🤘#NumberlyGarfs
In Pau's Masterclass video (link below) she describes how they had to spend weeks (weeks!) relearning how to play live together when they realized what they really sounded like live after attending David Bendeth Bootcamp. They are an incredibly tight live band because they wanted to be and put in the work to accomplish it. Here's the subtitled version of the Masterclass - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GMBy4yS86OY.htmlsi=Qfy1o56u6oglDTLg
I am a gen z rocker from the 70’s. This is absolutely one of my favorite bands ever. You have to check out “23” live at teatro. Pau is amazing. Thanks for all the great content guys.
In an interview, they said in "Disciple" they are calling out people to think for themselves and not get caught up in following the crowd or believing conspiracy theories on the internet. In other words, don't let someone on the internet or the government control your life. A fantastic song that you should really watch them perform live. Everything The Warning does is better live. I don't why they even bother with music videos, but I guess some people like them. Personally, I would rather watch them perform than watch a music video. Great reaction guys.
I think an added benefit to having multiple lead singers is they can stay at peak voice for longer because each get a couple songs to rest. Not much of a big deal for one or two shows but over a long tour it would definitely help. It would be awesome if they all had their own lead songs but I know Ale only sings lead when absolutely necessary. Maybe that'll change as she gets older and more experienced/confident.
Yes, if you notice when Dany sings her guitar playing is compromised When she's playing guitar her singing is compromised. Either the voice or the guitar will take the lead. So with multiple vocalists it allows Dany to play some really good guitar parts that she wouldn't normally be able to do. Perfect example to watch would be "z" live when ale and Pau sing it allows Dany to go crazy on guitar Them being multi talented allows them to change up song structures.
The song is about the dangers of social media, about blindly following people and never questioning. If you do then, as the last lines of the song say: "You shall remain, Inside your space of ignorance". Cheers for the reaction, although I love the live version at Teatro Metro better!
*Disciple* is one of their songs about social media and how it affects people in ways they don't even know... Dany (guitar) sings the part of the "leader"... Pau (drums) sings the part of a "follower", "disciple", or maybe "soldier"... basically they're speaking about how people take what they see on social media and believe it, whatever it is... in this way, certain groups out there control the narrative and what is happening... i believe this is a cynical song telling people to think for themselves and not believe everything they see or hear... the OMV for *Disciple* was shot during the pandemic, all the extras in the video are IRL The Warning Army members... the wearing of the various masks works for the video as well as acknowledging the pandemic being a thing at the time of recording the video... there is the dichotomy of the masks, themselves... the "disciples/soldiers" wearing just cloth mouth and nose masks while the higher ranked overseers are wearing full face filter masks... and then we have DPA/TW playing the upper echelon, the untouchables, with no masks at all... this ranked depiction of status makes a huge statement about social media in addition to what is already being said in the song... *XXI Century Blood* , *Z* , and *Kool-Aid Kids* are three other original DPA/TW songs that also speak about social media... the 1st one, XXICB, has an OMV that tells a story... it and the director were nominated for (and won?) several awards when it was released in 2017 when Dany was 17, Pau was 15, and Ale was 12 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
Magnum. What are you like 12?? 🤣🤣🤣 Keep having fun guys!! Great channel and fun to watch. This is one of their best songs, if a "best" out of all their songs is actually possible. From what I understand the song is a Warning about being sucked into the whole social media thing and letting it take over your life.
I just subscribed because your commentary and enjoyment are so good. I'm waiting for someone to come out and say, this is the first band to reach the same level as the Beatles. As a Boomer, I say that with the utmost gravity.
