The Yardbirds are one of the great early English rock bands from the 60's. The band is known for starting the careers of three of rock's most famous guitarists, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page & Jeff Beck. The Yardbirds had a lot of great hits including "Heart Full Of Soul", "Shapes Of Things", "Over Under Sideways Down", "I'm A Man", "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago", "Train Kept A-Rollin'", "I Ain't Got You" etc.

Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck & Jimmy Page were all in The Yardbirds (at different times). That's some pretty impressive talent. 'Shapes of Things' & 'I'm a Man' are a couple more good ones.

Didn't Page play bass because Beck was on lead guitar?
@jessegreen6138
@jessegreen6138 2 года назад
@@joebruenger2323 No that was the plan but Jimmy wasn't very good on the Bass. They only played (Beck and Page) together for one show before Beck left the Band. They both ended up playing lead Guitar. This was the first Band to have 2 lead guitarists until the Allman Brother's started their Band. Then Lynyrd Skynyrd top them all by having 3 lead Guitarists when Ed King joined the Band in 1974. Just a little side note. Sorry I got carried away.

This was written by Graham Gouldman, who later became the bass player for the group 10cc; he wrote two other Yardbirds hits as well: "Heart Full of Soul" and "Evil Hearted You." This is one of the most famous rock songs to feature a harpsichord, which was arranged by Yardbirds bassist Paul Samwell-Smith, who made wholesale changes to Graham Gouldman's original demo. Gouldman observed to Uncut magazine August 2009: "The harpsichord was an absolute stroke of genius. The record just had a weird, mysterious atmosphere about it

They had to be one of the most important bands ever because of the various greats that played in it. Universally respected and for good reason, everyone loved them back in the day. Try Over, Under, Sideways, Down, one of many classics by this legendary band. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎸🎸🎶

This song is the distinct and identifying sound of the 1960's. That electric Clavichord (piano) along with the electric Organ (ie:The Doors) we're Staple instruments during that era of music.... Especially during the British Invasion
@jessegreen6138
@jessegreen6138 2 года назад
"For Your Love" was also the name of the Album. That sound (twanging sound) wasn't a Keyboard it is actually a Steel Guitar. At least I think that is what you were referring to. Eric Clapton was the Guitarist on the Album. Jeff Beck was the guitarist after that. The Yardbirds had tried to get Jimmy Page to join but Jimmy wanted to stay a session musician at the time, but he did recommend Jeff Beck to the Band. Jeff Beck was the guitarist on 3 of the songs on the Album "I'm not Talking", "I Ain't Done Wrong", and "My Girl Sloopy". Eric Clapton at the time didn't want to be in a Rock Band. He then joined a band called John Mayall's Bluesbreakers until he left them to become part of Cream. The Bluesbreakers was an incubator for Rock Blues Musicians such as Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce (Cream); Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie (Fleetwood Mac); Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones); Ansley Dunbar (Frank Zapa Mothers of Invention) and The Ansley Dunbar Retaliation with Jon Hiseman, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Tony Reeves. Thank You for Reacting to The Yardbirds first hit in Rock 'n' Roll Asia and BJ. If you can Check Out "Mister You're a Better Man Than I". It's a great song and has relevance even today.

that electric piano sound was called a harpsichord. it was used by classical composers back in the 1600s and it was used again in the middle 1960s especially after a movie with Don Knotts came out about a haunted house called: The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. Then several rock bands used it in the psychedelic period from 1966 to 68.

Eric Clapton was The Yardbirds' first guitarist. He was going through a "blues purist" phase and thought this song too commercial sounding so left the band. Management wanted to get Jimmy Page in, however, he was friends with Clapton and made more money as a session musician so turned it down. He did, however, recommend his friend Jeff Beck. Jeff would be lead guitarist until after a performance, bassist Paul Samwell-Smith quit the band. Jeff finally convinced Jimmy to join so he did and played bass until another member, Chris Dreja could pick up bass then Jeff and Jimmy were co-lead guitars. After a time, Jeff would quit the band (or was fired, depending on who's telling the story) so Jimmy was sole guitarist. The Yardbirds wouldn't last much longer; they were either tired of it all or wanted to go in a different musical direction so split up. Jimmy would go on to form Led Zeppelin and, very early in their career, would play some Yardbirds songs in concert. Here's a clip of Led Zeppelin playing their rendition of For Your Love from the Whiskey A Go Go in 1969 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--wg-9fHYdwM.html
