When Tom lived in South Central he saw how people were treated, he is the kind of person to sit and have a serious conversation in an effort to expand his understanding. If you want to hear a bit about his struggles I'd say check out Sober, I Don't Care, and Best Rapper Ever. He talks about some of the situations he has been through in a lot of his songs, but those are among my favorites.
Tom lived for 6 yrs in South Central with all his neighbors being die-hard blacks and he was dirt poor with having to decide half the time whether they buy food or pay the rent. He was homeless twice. He showed this song to some Black Panthers and some wanted to be in the video although some of the others are actors. He is singing by what he lived knowing that not all blacks think the same. Not one race all think the same because we are all individuals but he wrote this song from what he experienced. You're right he did get a lot of hate mail for this but it's IF he was black and not I AM black. Tom is about unity so at the beginning when you see the mix of white and black on same body that is what it is supposed to represent . Keep it real and you will get to 500. Thanks for sharing🙏🏽🤙🏽✌🏽💯#HOG4EVER
Found this channel 3 days later. In a couple hours I've been catching up we went from 950 something subs to over 1.04K Got to love the power of the HoG algorithm🥰
Essentially Tom is saying even as a white guy, he has seen and understand the challenges of the black community to the point where this is probably how'd he feel and what he would probably believed if he was black. Empathy, awareness and understanding is what will allow us to realize we are one human family and are all caught up in a system creating the illusion of division and is screwing us all, just in different ways. But when we can understand and recognize what is driving our beliefs and perceptions we can have these conversations. Enjoying the reactions. Much love HOG!!
Tom lived in South Central with Nova before he took off. They went through a lot and seen a lot. This whole concept started at a pizza shop during a conversation with Nova. He saw a black guy walk in with his hair how Tom wanted his and he told Nova "if I was black that's how I'd want my hair." And the conversation went way deeper and he found himself typing lyrics in his phone. They decided to go to South Central and get the perspectives of their friends, and they also threw in things they had seen when living there. Also, that is a chapter of black panthers in the video. He played the song for them and they wanted to be in the video. Great reaction as always! #HOG
Y’all need to do some reactions to Nova’s stuff. Start with the live version of “problems” with her in flip flops standing at the mic. You will thank me later I promise.
Back story 1: Even though he is independent, he had issues with the distribution company that was supposed to do the simultaneous release on all platforms and they thought it was too controversial in regards to race so they weren't going to release it blaming Apple music, after phone calls he found out that Apple had no issue, he went into a legal battle and switched distribution companies, and still released it on the target date. Backstory 2: Tom was going to shoot the video for Buttholes, and Tom/Nova were sitting at a pizza parlor, and 2 guys came in. The 2nd guy was wearing yellow frosted tips. Tom blurted out *If I was Black, I'd totally rock that doo* Tom thought to himself, what a strange thing to say. If I was Black how else would my life be. Tom whipped out his phone and started taking notes. He then told Nova that he had to go home and record. She asked about the " Buttholes" video. He told her cancel everyone including the actors, but to pay everyone, that this song was more important. After they shot this video, 2 weeks later they changed the concept of the video for Buttholes. Backstory 3:: Knowing that Nova is a dog lover, someone dropped off 11 puppies while shooting this video. So on set they had puppies everywhere. Nova rehomed them within a couple weeks.
I’m a white chic from Louisiana my grandpa killed alligators like on Swamp People. I’m so glad y’all did this one. It opens up so many convos and perspectives. Thanks for the courage so speak on your lives. Much love ❤
I think its a beautiful message and Tom would never put out hate. He is about bringing us together as brothers and sisters. I am happy people do see Tom's messages..
When Tom has people in his videos he has them listen to the song then they all sit and talk about it before they shoot the video. I have been following Tom for years and I love when new reactors find him. You have definitely found GOLD with Tom.
We are all just trying to see the other person's perspective. If we all really try to hear where each other are coming from...we might make some progress.
I love listening to reactions to Tom's music because between Tom's lyrics, how people react to his massages and the comments I read, I often get a new perspective on some things. I don't listen to reactions to just hear everyone agreeing with Tom. I like to hear what people agree with AND what they don't agree with and why. It's truly made me grow as a person. Loving your reactions!! #HOG❤🖤
You two fellows display more knowledge and common sense about the human condition....than most of the people I know. And you do it when you are half stoned. Impressive. Keep it up. Nothing more refreshing than hearing an honest opinion from a couple of folks who obviously think for themselves. Kudos.
Yeah I agree worth pointing out that to make this kind of song write these lyrics, one would had had to do a decent amount of thinking, switching the shoes around etc.
I love y'all's channel, when I was a young scared white boy living in Norfolk Virginia, I met some guys like y'all, kept me safe cause I was different, now I try to do that for everyone, y'all rock keep it going!!
#HOG in the house. It's me again. i'm just laughing. at the end of the vid, which postsed 5 hours ago according to YouTUbe, when i started watching it had 150 views, twenty minutes later you are at 161 at 3am my time in Arizona, and tour subbs are at 404. #HOG fam are like wild pigs at the feeding trough. Pretty funny, huh. If you guys just give your honest opinions and just be yourself, not trying to become actors , you will do fine. It's people who after a little success that they think...hey, we cool now, i need to act like Howard Stern or Machine Gun kelly now or the kardashians. That doesn't mean you don't upgrade equipment or the set if you start popping, but people are looking for thoughtful conversation, and transparency. Tom has interviews out there on Simba tv, with Miichael Knowles where they go over his vid Names, Officer Tatum has an interview, and Tom at times does live streams when a new vid comes out, and tom's day is always a Friday. tom is the most genuine, normal person, and with his success you would think h would change. Now he is known enough now that going in public you know people...some people...will go up and interrupt a person eating with family, or think i want to get a pic. People thatr just don't think. but you guys are natural in front of the camera. Have fun. it's not a job but a passion. Good luck!
You guys are so real😢💞Listening to you talk about race brought tears to my eyes! and I always say: Racism is a heart Issue not aSkin tone! .... 😅I always says I'm white as the driven snow! I'm enjoying this journey I'm on. Ty
Be in control of your emotions....do not allow someone or something else to trigger you. Youre in control! Come on people we in this together! Great reactions gentlemen! Keep it up yall got great insight!
6:50 I appreciate the sentiment. And I respect your openness. Yet at the same time you did mention in your first video of his that you tend to judge a book by its cover, although you also stated that you're willing to give anyone a chance. You also made it clear that you have that tendency. No judgment. Most people do have that tendency. Just pointing out what you yourself freely admitted🤷♀️
Not sure if you guys have heard coast contra yet but if you enjoy music with substance like tom they're real af their message is directed more towards people putting in the leg work and earning the things they want in life .. things worth getting in life. You won't see them wasting money on unnecessary materials what you will see is 4 of the closest friends who would never have to give each other their word bc it would never be called into question. They're all about raising people up
Tom gives a voice to All of Us! Check out White Boy then This House! Tom here for Everyone! Thanks ❤️ Much Love! #Hangovergang #Nova Rockafeller #Brandon Hart #Evan Morgan #Creeksquad #Tom MacDonald #If I was Black
I totally hear you two. I hate that the term colorblindness got such a bad rap. It's not about not seeing color, it's about not prejudging BECAUSE of the color. I guess we can't use colorblindness now though so.... I see color but I just don't care what color I see. You treat me with respect and I'll pass respect right back to you. I'll hang with anyone that smiles at me or asks me a question. 500? Let's shoot for 1k now since your 300 past that 500
I'm white & I do not feel privileged. I work hard for what I have. You may want to say "some white people" instead of "white people". Listen to more Tom & you'll understand what I'm saying. ML&R
Hey I am white. Coming hone from work pm dark 3 times pulled over by troopers the third made me take a breatherizer test and walk the line on the side so kept the job. But took a 20 minute extra detour every nite to get to my home. I just got tired of harristment.
Y’all hit on something without knowing it. You said you judge people by their character. MLK said he had a dream that one day men would be judged by the content of their character, rather than the color of their skin. Did you catch the MLK reference in the song?
what confuses me.... is why did it take TOM to make this song and not the 100000 other rappers out there that are actually black? interesting right? i also see this song just like Straight White Male. a song about stereotypes... black power movements say these things, but the black men and women I know living in the city dont actually think like this. tom is so creative and can get a message out without any hate. its a beautiful thing
Between the comments in the last video and this song as a whole, welcome to how hog really feels about your BLM thoughts😘 Not everything is literal. Some things are just to get you thinking and discussing😉
I don't know if it gives me cred but North Vegas through the late 80s early 90s I'm pretty sure Vegas Donna Street Crips were Street in America for like two three years running just saying I was one of the only white boys on that corner not comfortable situation
I think everyone agrees Black Lives Matter or at least I agree but everyone matters the old the young disabled unborn and everyone should get good healthcare but we don’t once you hit a certain age like prostate cancer here in Montana the let you die we all need to unite and deny some politicians no care and see how they like it
Honey really you don't hsve to worry about police. If your driving legal, have your papers ready and be respectful comply. If the cop is rude take the tickets and tell the judge..
One of the few ones I don't get. Maybe being born and raised plus white being just a minority not exclusive plays a part. Add on my research and I feel like I'd touch on a whole lot more.
You're not going to agree with everything he says, it would be crazy if you did, people have different opinions, I'm sure theirs stuff you and your have different opinions on stuff but you don't hate him for having a different opinion,
REACT TO WHITE BOYS! I know you did WHITE BOY but this is a different song with Adam Calhoun! Hes a redneck type rapper. The 2 of them did a collab on Toms last album Brave!! It was great!! I wanna see y'all react to their White Boy Anthem. Hahaha they have some mad bars in there!!
