The thing with Tool Army, is we love watching people discover and appreciate Tool for the first time. We remember how profoundly we were affected when we heard it for the first time, so its nice to watch others discover as well. If you play, Tool Army will come. You need to hear the stereo version as well it’s so much cleaner to listen to not to mention that scream is even longer on the studio version! This one was powerful but the studio version kills.

There was one guy who reacted to this song and he literally broke down crying. POWERFUL when music with powerful lyrics can touch your soul!

Great reaction, man! These guys are amazing live! Definitely check out the studio version when you get a chance. This song just hits different, especially people that can sympathize with it. The ebbs and flow of built up anger and release.

Brother man….. We’re still here with you. Don’t worry about it. Keep going. Interesting choice to use a live concert recording though. I don’t suggest doing that except for the drum cam for Pneuma and / or the live performance of Sober. Otherwise, you’re losing some production value in these live audio recordings. The studio recording is just SO MUCH more powerful.

TOOL lyrics are always open to how YOU experience it, which may be different than how I do. It is RARELY incorrect, just a different set of eyes and ears experiencing it a differ nt manner. And on the tenth listen, or hundredth time, it evolves just as we all are evolving; and will come across differently to you than it did the first. Spiral out, my friend!

Listen to the studio version as well. It has a lot going on sonically that can’t be captured in a live recording.

Great review. I enjoy your reactions and insights. Don't cheat yourself though, treat yourself. The studio versions production and mastering are next level. I notice things years later that I hadn't originally. Truly timeless music. Enjoy the ride.

Awesome reaction. I was never a big fan of tool, i liked a couple songs, until 5 years ago when i myself decided to get sober. Like you said, i too am glad I didn't get into them earlier than that because the message wouldn't have been the same for me. Their music helped me through a dark time in my life and watching you react to them and a lot of what you say really hits home. I truly wish you all the best in your journey. One song in particular that really hit me hard at the time and holds a special place is The Patient. The short instrumental Eon Blue Apocalypse must be played first though lol they just belong together. Check them out sometime.

Great tune. Never heard the live version. At some point do listen to the studio version. It's much more clean (obviously). He pulls off that scream at the end a little longer in the studio version too.

This is good stuff an if people really pay attention they can learn about psychology! A grudge can be a double edge sword when people know psychology. because they know how to use it against people to their advantage an twist words around on you an make you believe that you are still wrong! The instrumentation of the song litteraly sounds like someone letting go of a burden, especially in the end.

This song is very cardiac and a good one when you’re feeling angry with someone, helps me release a lot of anger and I love this song especially the scream. 😅

Heard te Grudge live the last 3 or 4 Tool concerts I've been to, including last night in Fresno. It's so fucking good live

Experience and react as you'd like. Only thing I feel is necessary is headphones. Outside of that, their music videos can be distracting and I feel unfortunately you came across a live video here with bad audio compared to the studio version. But that's optional stuff. Headphones yes, everything else is just preference for you. You got the lyric video you wanted. You can also listen at your leisure to the studio track. Honestly if you really do love this band you'll catch new things on every listen. You do you! We will keep watching!

I never get tired of new reactions to Tool! You don’t need to apologize for stopping the video to talk about it. That’s the instant reaction we came to see. But I gotta admit, it’s a little like stopping right when sex is getting to the groove, somebody almost got slapped one time 🤣 And yes I did compare listening to Tool with sex. 😁

The longest scream in any, I suppose, songs ever (apart from opera :) ).. Don't proofe me I'm wrong anyone, let me keep in that way ;)

Maynard writes the lyrics after Danny, Adam, and Justin write the music. This is a unique approach and he certainly is a genius I bet his IQ is in excess of 150. There really is only drummer., singer, bass , and regular guitar. All those crazy instrument sounds are played by Danny Armstrong with special pads.

Definitely diving into the deep end. RESPECT for that. Jumping into 13-15 minute songs is brave af for the uninitiated. 😆 Sober, Aenema, The Pot are pretty straight forward, in your face, “easy” ones. But you’re already jumped into Descending, Lateralus, etc. I’d say you’re ready for 7empest. 😉 But try Aenema for a kick ASS good time. Veeeerrrry straightforward. It’s a “wow… tell us how you really feel, Maynard” kind of song. 😆

The song is about kronos and his children. He became so jealous and angry towards them he swallowed them. His kids became like a stone in his stomach. So kronos spewed them out. He had to let go.

I have a suggestion for you my friend, I don’t believe you have reacted to, but first is wings for Marie, and the second is wings for Marie part two also called 10,000 which is also the name of one of their albums. It’s about Maynard‘s mother and her relationship with the church and how he used the church which is very complex wheelchair over nine years, but still very positive and very devout Christian, 10,000 days Isabel the number of days that she wheelchair before she passed almost 30 years. He feels they treated her like a martyr in the congregation. He resented the church for this. They also don’t often perform because they’re difficult for him to perform and get through. put his mother up on a pedestal, Judith Marie.

So it takes Saturn a little over 29 years which is approximately 10,000 which his mother was paralyzed confined to wheelchair before she passed.
