You were on the right track that he's comparing Chlorine to his music where he knows he needs it but it can also be toxic if it overwhelms him This was on the album after they became really famous so this song relates to that and how they needed some time away from the music - they went on a 1 year hiatus where no one heard anything at all from them- and he says "the moment is medical" meaning they needed that time away I'd recommend Migraine Lane Boy Ode to Sleep Ride

Twenty one pilots are so incredible and Tyler Joseph (the Singer rapper songwriter writes the lyrics composes the music creates the beats plays piano keyboard synthesizer bass, guitar drums ukulele accordion and several other percussion instruments and to top it off he produces almost all their work all self taught at that. Josh is the drummer so underated he's incredible. They don't have a single bad song they don't even have a single mediocre song they're all absolute fire and they all have so much depth and meaning mostly due to their distaste for meaningless music. Tyler the singer struggles with depression anxiety self harm and suicidal thoughts so a lot of their music is centered around mental health awareness and suicide prevention. The Clique (their fan base) has a mantra that Tyler Joseph started "stay alive it's worth it I promise". They saved my life and thousands of others so yes their music is DEFINITELY worth exploring. No matter where you start in their repertoire Tree's live Fox theatre is an absolute must no matter what lol.
