@@clintonhunt3197 I WAS JUST THINKING THE SAME THING!! "A PLEDGE PIN? ON YOUR UNIFORM? NOW DROP AND GIVE ME 20!!" AND NEDEMEYER (THE ACTOR) PLAYS THE DAD IN THE VIDEO DOESN'T HE??
They will go nuts over Animal House. To me, We're Not Gonna Take It is THE best Twisted Sister. They'll watch the last L. O. R. Monday. Maybe they'll catch Animal House Friday followed by We're Not Gonna Take It. We can hope.
That is the most obvious that everyone suggests but are you familiar with from their first alum "You Cant Stop RocknRoll" ? Check it out and sure you will agree hands down their best!!!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wpehjqqjNXw.html
I agree! They should react to "We're Not Gonna Take It" an anthem to rouse, unite, celebrate and call to action! A must-see rock video; not a ballad! And a funny video too!
The singer, Dee Snyder is a hero to everyone in the music industry. He went to Washington DC and fought off the dogs because they tried to censor music. He's the reason warning labels are on all albums.
And he was joined in Washington by John Denver, who was totally against censoring anyone's music. Two completely different styles, but great artists fighting the good fight together.
Not really Snider, John Denver, and Frank Zappa all testified against censorship and the proposed warning system. Though the system was never implemented, the hearing led to the music industry adopting what is now the generic "Parental Advisory: Explicit Content" label.[
In reality Tipper Gore found out about the meaning of a small handful of songs by specific artists that had songs she didn't want her children to hear, and wanted some way to identify these songs before her kids heard them. The result was those warning labels, that musicians used as a badge of honor. It was never about censorship. The warning labels didn't work any more than the movie rating system... people wanted content based warnings not a general warning. The record industry wasn't "saved" because after that the music industry went into a major decline. And then the tech boom hit, Napster and other file sharing killed off record sales, then the switch to digital media just about wiped it out other than last holdouts like me that still buy physical media and use CD players.
👏👏Congratulations your second Twisted Sister reaction! Yes, you MUST SEE "WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT" video! The Extended version of the official song, that also stars the same actor Mark Metcalf who played the teacher in their "I Wanna Rock" video; he is in the "We're Not Gonna Take it" video too; another banger, he plays the dad Douglas C. Niedermeyer a character with the same name in the frat comedy movie Animal House that came out in 1978! Enjoyed your reaction! ☮💕
Back in the 80s, the record companies made the band's put out a power ballad after their first single on their albums. Some bands didn't like that but did it snyway
Every rock band has to have a rock ballad on an album. It’s in the record contract. Dee Snider has a great ballad voice. He does a ballad version of We’re Not Gonna Take It. Recorded for his friend Criss Angel’s baby son with brain cancer.
@@djclabbe88 Slayer is thrash metal not rock. There’s a difference, you know that. Still, for thrash, yes there are some calmer than others but it’s still thrash. Different genres have different versions.
1) YES, Motley Crew has a ballad, Home Sweet Home. 2) check out Twisted Sister's Were Not Gonna Take It 3) I actually got to see these guys in 2003 while stationed in Korea with the Air Force. They put on a great live show!!
I'm glad to know that the lyrics were paid attention to because mainly the chorus is so true to life in general. This is and always be my favorite song by Twisted Sister. So powerful if you listen to the lyrics. :)
Love this one! Dee Snider definitely has the 80's hair band hair, you should check out "You Can't Stop Rock n Roll" and "We're Not Gonna Take It" both are bangers.
Hey guys. Love the channel. Brings me back to my high school days. Wasnt able to see Twisted Sister then but they did a Christmas album and put the lyrics of Christmas songs to the music from their songs. Got to see them on or around Christmas eve. at The House of Blues in Atlantic City. I've been to multiple Ozzfests, I've seen about every metal act there was but the energy Twisted Sister brought to the stage was incredible. Since its "tis the season" you should check out their Christmas songs and maybe even react to them. I know there are videos for oh come all ye faithful white Christmas and I think Lita Ford even did one with them. Silver Bells maybe.
Another band that I’m glad you finally revisited. Twisted Sister have been around since the late 70’s and this song is from one of their biggest selling albums, “Stay Hungry”. They have another song off that album called “We’re Not Gonna Take It” which is probably their largest hit, thanks in a big part to MTV and the video at the time. Other songs I recommend by them are “Burn In Hell” and “Heroes Are Hard to Find”. The later is from a horror movie that Dee Snider wrote and stared in called “Strangeland”. Twisted Sister reunited to do this song for the movie soundtrack.
Aw yeah! You are SMFs now! Twisted Sister songs - Leader of the Pack, Love is for Suckers, Burn in Hell, Be Chrool To Your Scuel ( a must watch with Alice Cooper ), The Kids are Back, You Cant Stop Rock n Roll...... there are so many. Dee Snider is still going too. Check out Dee in front of the Senate making them look like fools back in the 80s over the PMRC.
Mötley Crüe do have a ballad on the Dr. Feelgood album called "Without You". Actually they have a few ballads. Another one is called "Home Sweet Home". Their drummer Tommy Lee said "You can't be 🤘that guy all the time or you'd be fake."
I MISS MY LONG HAIR. I STARTED LOOSING IT IN VN. BUT STILL GOT TO HAVE ENOUGH LEFT TO GET THE HIPPIE HAIR FOR SEVERAL YEARS when I got home in 70. My mother past away 10 years ago and at the funeral home my picture was on Facebook the board with my hippie hair and my granddaughters and a few friends didn't recognize me. I lost my prostate from agent orange and my mother thought VN was the reason I lost my hair. LOVE AND MISS HER SOOO MUCCCCH
I'm so excited that you both reacted to this song. One of my faves from Twisted Sister. We're not gonna take it and Don't let me down are really good too.
The singer Dee Snider started Twisted Sister as a cross dressing party band the likes of Iggy Pop and David Bowie. They got so popular they would fill stadiums to the scale of bands like Motley Crue and Kiss; yet, for some reason no record companies would sign them. Some good songs of their's are Captain Howdy, Street Justice, Stay Hungry, Burn In Hell, and The Beast.
It took them almost 10 years to make it big and get a record contract. The song was written by Dee. Is about him having to go on the road tour and missed out his young child's life
I hear you Jay. I watch pretty much every video you guys do with a heavy metal bad, and I read the comments, and 80% of the recommendations are for the ballads that band did. Saw one on your Warrant video today that lists off four suggestions for you for Warrant. First three were all ballads. I'm always reading these comments and asking myself, "What the *bleep* is wrong with you people? Jay keeps saying how he loves rock songs, and you're suggesting anything but." I will mention ballads myself here for one second, just because Amber mentioned them. Motley Crue has a LOT of ballads. "Home Sweet Home" in a way actually established the whole power ballad movement where every glam metal band had to do at least one ballad on their album. The rest of this post is for Jay. Here's some suggestions for songs by 80's metal bands that are actually rock. If you really want to rock, start with Skid Row, either "Slave to the Grind" or "Monkey Business." I remember a countdown on TV several years ago where "Slave to the Grind" was actually ranked as the third best heavy metal song ever. Also love their very first single, "Youth Gone Wild." It doesn't rock as hard as the first two suggestions, but still great. Damn Yankees is another band where you've only done their main ballad and immediately had their other main ballad recommended repeatedly. Go with "Don't Tread on Me." For a song of there's that has some ballad to it, but definitely hit some serious power with an amazing Ted Nugent guitar solo check out "Come Again." I'd say that one leans more on the side of power on the power ballad scale. For Twisted Sister, you already did "I Wanna Rock" so go with their biggest hit "We're not Gonna Take It." Former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E Lee started a great blues based metal band called Badlands. Either of their first two singles "Winter's Call" or "Dreams in the Dark" are great. And Jake gives Dee Snider here a run for his money on best 80's hair. You've only reacted to one Ratt song so far, and they were one of the longest tenured glam bands ever. "Way Cool Junior" has a very unique vibe to it. Personal favorites also include "You're in Love" and their last hit from the movie Point Break, "Nobody Rides for Free." You've done a few Cinderella songs but haven't hit "Somebody Save Me." The video has a couple of great cameos at the end. A few others, L.A. Guns "Never Enough," Accept "Balls to the Wall," Anthrax "Only," Winger "Easy Come, Easy Go," Def Leppar "Let it Go," Judas Priest "Parental Guidance" (my favorite song in high school for when my parents had just ticked me off about something), Tangier "On the Line" or Kix "Cold Blood." For a more recent song "Never Back Down" by Mammoth WVH, which is Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang's group. He actually played every instrument and sang ever note on the album. And the video is great! I could keep going if you need more ideas. I just pulled some out off the top of my head. I'm sure I have songs I like a lot more than these I just didn't think of right now. I checked out my 80's metal music collection on my PC a while back. If it made it all one big playlist and hit play, it wouldn't stop for about 5-6 weeks. Oh, I just thought of two slightly more recent ones you've got to check out. The first is DragonForce "Through the Fire and Flames" which has the most insane guitar solo/duet ever. I can't believe you haven't reacted to that one already. Slash (yes, that Slash) "World on Fire" or "Back to Cali." And for something VERY unusual, The HU "Wolf Totem." They're from Mongolia and are a cross between a metal band and ancient Mongolian throat singing. You've never heard anything like it before. For one thing, it's sung in the Mongolian language, a lot of ancient war chants, and they play ancient Mongolian instruments as part of their sound. For fun, immediately follow up that video with another video they did of the same song with a guest appearance by Jacoby Shaddix where he sings some English translation mixed with their original song. The Hu have actually been honored by their country for promoting Mongolian culture and given the highest award their government gives out, the Order of Ghengis Kahn.
Twisted Sister is my all-time favorite band. I'm more than a little pleased that you're checking out something other than their big two, "I Wanna Rock" and "We're Not Gonna Take It". This is one of their most emotional tracks. To me, it describes the price we pay to be ourselves; especially when ourselves are outside the norms dictated by society. Dee Snider is without a doubt one of the most outstanding singers and lyricists of all time. And he's wickedly intelligent, as well. He took on a Congressional inquiry, and made them all look like FOOLS.
Arejay Hale of Halestorm uses giant drumsticks just like those during his drum solo in concert. I've always meant to ask him but always forgotten when I've seen him if he got the idea from this video.
Hey Amber, you're absolutely correct about what this song's talking about, it is indeed talking about the life of a recording artist and all the sacrifices that they make, especially when they're on tour as those moments can be very lonely at times
This is the song that got me into TS. Saw them years later at Rocklahoma and heard them play Silver Bells, yes the Christmas song. They have a whole Christmas album if you're looking for holiday reaction ideas. The Beast is another underappreciated TS song.
"We're Not Gonna Take It" is by far their most well known anti-establishment song, but "I Am, I'm Me" always seemed to resonate with me more. Check it out!
Howdy guys, so enjoy watching both of you listen to my generations music. I’m biased of course. But I think we grew up in the best time for Rock. Late 70’s & 80’s. I’d like to watch you review a group that didn’t get the airplay they deserved. Shotgun-Messiah “living without You” awesome guitars in the song. Take care and happy holiday season
OK wow - 2 of my all time fav hair metal songs in one day - I fell for this band back in 1984 when this album came out and finally got to see them live in 2003. LOVE Dee so much!! They have some other songs on that album, that at first blush sound like the band is promoting satanism or following a killer but when you REALLY listen to the lyrics, Dee is singing about the exact opposite and his band was always misunderstood. And BTW - almost every single metal/hair band had a power ballad, including Motley Crue...
You should react to Be chrool to your school. from twisted sister and alice cooper Also has guest musicians playing on the song like brian seltzer rock a billy style guitar, Billy Joel piano, and clarence clemons saxaphone
Twisted Sister song suggestions for you guys. S. M. F. We're Not Gonna Take It Captain Howdy Ride To Live , Live To Ride. I was a huge fan of the band back then. Even got to see them live with Iron Maiden and W. A. S. P.. then when Twisted Sister decided they're retiring they did the final tour and got to see that show. A buddy said he worries about those of us who were of the weird 80s music scene. Says we're all just not right
Please react to We Are Not Gonna Take It- Dee Snider Acoustic. He turned TS classic song into a ballad to benefit cancer research and treatment. It's amazing. The Fire Still burns is another classic track.
Most of Twisted Sisters best stuff is not super popular or well known. Like this song they have some really deep songs and heavier songs before that time. Check out songs like Burn in Hell, You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll and one of my favorites the epic Horror-Teria (The Beginning) a)Captain Howdy b) Street Justice, that is one song title.
