These guys are Norwegian comedians and this song was written as a complete and total joke, but somehow it took off. It was never meant to be taken seriously, yet it blew up when released and it was almost possible to escape it if you had young children.

The Ylvis brothers have many more awesome comedy songs in different genres! Definitely recommend you to check out "Stonehenge", "Mr. Toot", "Cabin", "Acapella", "Jan Eagaland"

This song got some bounce when it was used for a group dance number on “Dancing with the Stars” back in the day. FWIW.
