Hopefully you'll see this. I recently ran across your channel while researching next years trip to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons area. I have so much to say..... Your voice and your accent are actually very calming and enjoyable to listen too. You seem to be well educated and knowledgeable of what and where you currently are. This video, about Nebraska was spot on as well. I live in Omaha and have for a few years (Kansas City is my hometown) as work brought me to Omaha. I worked on the Railroad (Union Pacific Railroad) for nearly 41 years and Omaha is home of our Corporate Headquarters for the company. You are right that not many East/West Coasters know or care much about this part of the country and just to see your expressions and hear you say that it is nice, was a pleasant thing to hear and for you to say. Anyways, I just wanted to drop in and say how much I enjoy your travel videos. Happy Traveling. :-)

Robert I want to thank you for posting these videos for people like me who have little ones at home and are unable to travel. We are living vicariously through you as cliched as it may sound. May god bless you with never-ending happiness, good health and prosperity. Thank you sir. Especially during tough times like this when we are unable to travel, these videos bring so much joy. Thanks for this video. I am an Omaha native but have lived all over, including NYC. Always enjoy heading back to Omaha and my home state of Nebraska. Also, if you do decide to come back to the "Midwest", consider visiting the Nebraska Sandhills, which are up north of I-80. A lot of history and a lot of beauty. From Ft Robinson on the west to the Niobrara River on the east of this region. Give it a try. You might run into me later this year. Keep up the good work.

For several years some friends of mine and I would randomly point on a map and travel there in the summer when our work would slow down. As a result I’ve been to Nebraska. We took one route there and another back. I really enjoyed it there. Met some wonderful people and have many cherished memories. Loved Omaha. Such a quaint and charming city. Still need to see North Dakota, Minnesota, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas to complete my west of the Mississippi quest. I’ve ticked off most of the east coast except Vermont, GA and FLA. I have friends in all those places so hope to go one day. Thanks for inspiring people to see the beauties right here at home.

What a small world. I was in North Platte in early August on the way back to NJ from Colorado. I went to the Golden Spike tower and saw the Union Pacific Big Boy steam locomotive that they rebuilt in time for the 150 year anniversary of completing the first transcontinental railroad! I also got gas at that same exact station and pump that you did in town! LOL! I guess Kevin Bacon was correct with his 6 degrees of separation! Happy travels. We are all itching for the country to reopen.

I have been to car henge. From your map it looks like you might have been through Crawford, Nebraska, around Fort Robinson State Park, a beautiful section of Nebraska! I know you wanted to see the railroad yard in North Platte. You also got to see the monuments along the Oregon trail. You did miss the heart of the Sandhills, Nebraska Highway 2 is pretty amazing. Also the wildlife refuge at Valentine, Nebraska. Also southeastern Nebraska and the fruit orchards around Nebraska City. Thank you posting your travels in often overlooked Nebraska!

My old stomping grounds. I grew up about 45 miles south of Lincoln, worked in Lincoln and Omaha (lived about a mile south of the Old Market for a year or so... Before moving on to Dea Moines.) You even wandered past a couple of the things I did the drawings for way back when (pretty basic infrastructure stuff... 😏... Not exactly what a traveler notices...).

You were only a few blocks from Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway office, when you were at Mutual of Omaha. Should have popped in to say Hi. 😁 I was born & raised in Omaha and have been in Vegas for the last 20 years. Back when Mutual of Omaha was just the 2 buildings and no plaza or commercial/retail mall and the ConAgra building with the fountain wasn't even a plan yet. When you were there, you were also right next the the Union Pacific Dispatch Center & the Heritage Museum/Train Depot. Maybe hit those on your next trip through.

Alliance has a really pretty City park with a unique water fountain that lights up at night. Also Box Butte Avenue is lined with cobblestone streets. Neat railroad town. Also if you ever visit Chimney Rock again, you can keep going south to the end of the road and turn right. Go until you reach the end and there is an old cemetery up there and an excellent view of the landmark for pictures.

Just watched your video... I'm amazed how people think Nebraska is so flat, but when you explore the state, the most flat part is along the Platte River where the interstate was built, and that must be why so many think it's a flat state... Like your video... Hope you can come back!

Another wonderful video Robert! Love that you started at Carhenge and all the places you visited--all are gems! The fog at Chimney Rock was fantastic! It's impossible to see all of great places in a state in a single trip, especially when you're on a schedule. Whenever you get back to the state, consider the Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron--it's another gem and not necessarily well know outside of fur trade aficionados. We stumbled across it years ago and it was wonderful!

If you ever return to Omaha Robert check out the Bob Kerry pedestrian bridge which crosses the river between Omaha and Council Bluffs. At night with the neon lights it is glorious. You can see it on the internet but being there is better. Also perhaps the Blackstone entertainment district on Farnam Street, you narrowly missed it when you went to Midtown Crossing and the Benson entertainment district on Maple Street. And you really should see the Capitol District, you narrowly missed it when you went to the Old Market. And Gene Leahy Park is scheduled to be completed in 2022.

The biggest reason the railroad went through what is now Nebraska, is back in the days of steam. Engines needed water about every 50 miles. So that is why the tracks went where they did. Now as times changed and engines needed less and less water and then non at all. Tracks where realigned. So there you go. Cheyenne Wyoming has the distinction of being called "Hell on Wheels"

I encourage you to come back to the Midwest. Your statement about going to the Kansas City area and going from there is a good one. KC is considered the Heart of America, just in case you hadn't heard that! Independence is a very nice community that is only a few minutes east of Kansas City's downtown area and the home of President Truman. I encourage you to visit that area. It is a few blocks from the Independence Square. Lots and lots of history here (I live in Independence). The Truman Library is currently undergoing a massive renovation, but should be completed by next Spring.
