(05/13/2023) First Time Kayaking Gorilla on the Green River Narrows. The level was around 8.5” on the stick.
A little over 3 years ago, I first started getting into Whitewater Kayaking. I knew about the Green River Narrows early on but wasn’t sure how far I would get into the sport, or if I would ever get to the point of actually being able to paddle it. I started practicing, quickly got my roll down as well as dialed in other fundamentals, and pushed myself on harder and harder runs. I continued to step up, and In the fall of 2021, I finally felt ready to boat the Narrows. I had a really good run and continued to get on it whenever I felt like it. Every time I would paddle the Green, I would always look at Gorilla as I wanted to run it but I was always too scared to run it and never really felt ready until more recently. I kept looking at it and finally felt like firing it up today. I’m happy I committed as couldn’t have had a better first run through. Such a sick sequence!!! I can’t wait to run it again. Green Race, here I come :)
