I think this live version of "Just Pretend" is even better than the studio version. His added ho oh-oh-oh-oh near the end is filled with so much passion but I swear I catch a hint of a smile. It's like Elvis knows he just got hold of one. And then his gesture to the Sweet Inspirations - who are phenomenal in their backup vocals on this, is a wonderful display of how he shows his appreciation to the accompaniment in the show. It's why the best of the best wanted to perform with him.

It seems to me that people who judge Elvis in a negative way are those who do not know Elvis the real artist and entertainer. Their perception of him is formulated by the caricature of him and the corny tribute artists. In other words, they do not take the time to listen and watch reality. If you are into music you owe it to yourself to find out about Elvis as he is such a huge part of music history and his influence on the evolution of music and the entertainment industry is immense. Once a person can understand that then they can appreciate the full Elvis experience and accept that he was indeed one of if not the greatest entertainers that walked this earth.

The love he had for his fans was matched by his love for his band and singers. Did you notice how he sang to the Sweets in that last bit? Even so Elvis had expectations for his group and controlled everything through looks, and hand and body signals. When he said "c'mon man" he was letting someone know they missed their cue.

Honestly, all of the noise around Elvis just speaks to his immense power whether it's 1955 or 2023 but it will forever come back to Elvis' voice and how he makes people feel through his music. That's the point of it, after all, and I feel sorry for the people who don't connect to music or an artist the way Elvis and his fans connect. My mother loved Elvis but when I was 17, I watched a show about him then asked to borrow his greatest hits and when it got to the spoken part of Are You Lonesome Tonight, I literally sat up straight in my chair, and fell in love with him that had nothing to do with my mother's love of Elvis. Although, it's lucky for the world that this man decided to use his powers for good instead of evil...

He gets me ready do deal the day and calms me after a hard day or even an easy day, I've loved this man all my life!
