Yes, and it's so good to have artists like him who tell stories and convey honest emotions and stuff into their music and other arts because it pulls me in so much more, I love details and storytelling so it feels great to listen to creative and detailed artists 🥰😂
Love the song writing in this song and the fact that you don’t find out until close to the end that he’s saying he metaphorically killer himself because he changed himself so that she’d like him, which is so sad and if you listen to it again the lyrics make so much more sense ❤️ like “I hope it makes you happy because there’s just no turning back” and “would you love me more if I killed someone for you”. Alex’s songwriting is really clever though I’d suggest boy in the bubble, if we have eachother, Jesus in LA and mind is a prison ❤️
He essentially killed his old self in order to become someone else. For better or for worse, we can tell that this was a brutal murder on his side. He feels innocent but questions if it was the right thing to do for her. He explains to his partner that he's a criminal, and she must accept the change that he's made. This reveals their complex relationship because he feels that he should kill for her. Although commonly associated with love, he does this out of guilt and pressure only to become a stranger to himself.
Alec is basically saying that the girl he was singing about didnt love him because of the way her looked so in order for her to love him, he "killed" his self and changed how he looked to how she wanted in a man so she would love him.
