Ten is my bias in all of Nct, WayV and SuperM, he is the center of this mv since Lucas is not there, and he is the shirtless one in "Bad Alive"...he is considered one of the best dancers in Kpop and I totally agree. Ten is the one who has done solo work over the years showcasing his dancing, and he is the one with sex appeal for the group along with Lucas, but since Lucas is on hiatus, Ten stands out. Ten just came out with another solo mv "Birthday" last month, have you guys seen it? He has the most promising solo life along with Mark and Taeyong in all of Nct, and WayV is also Nct, so I love seeing Ten do his own music. Check out "Birthday" mv if you can, it's all in English and he is amazing. I love him alot. 💙🌺

As you discovered, although "Bad Alive" is primarily in English, there are a few words and lines that are in Korean and Mandarin as well. As you can see, even though WayV is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT, they often do English songs. Fun fact: WayV was stuck in Korea for so long because of the pandemic that SM decided to make a Korean version of their song "Kick Back", so they could promote on Korean music shows. "Kick Back" and "Bad Alive" were the first time that WayV really promoted in Korea and they actually started appearing on Korean variety shows and TV programs during this comeback. WayV, by far, is considered the most sexy of all of NCT's sub-units so far. They are known for not being afraid to show skin and to have songs that are all about being sexy or have lyrics that play with sexual innuendo, etc. You're also just going to have to get used to the fact that Ten will not have a shirt on in the majority of WayV's and his solo content. That is why NCT's/SuperM's Mark Lee actually awarded Ten with the Naked of the Year Award, because he is the member out of all of NCT's members who doesn't wear a shirt the most. It's actually more surprising when we don't see his abs these days. LOL ;p Because WayV -- which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- or Weishen V in Chinese -- which means "gods of vision" -- is a sub-unit of NCT, NCT's whole dream concept is also part of WayV's storyline and concept. (Hence, why in the lyrics of "Phantom" they say "only I can see the truth," and they talk about having the vision, etc.) As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state. Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's and SuperM's storylines. Did you watch their "Phantom" MV with the CC English subs on? If not, you should go back and rewatch the MV with the subs to see what the song is about. It's even more sexy when you know what the lyrics are about. Although WayV's "Phantom" MV is loosely based on the concept of the Phantom of the Opera, a phantom is just another name for a ghost or apparition, so I really think the song is about a phantom in general, not specifically the phantom that haunts the opera house. I think the song is more about the image of someone or something that haunts your thoughts or memories, etc. that seems to be affecting or controlling all aspects of your life, manipulating you like a puppet on a string. Currently, there are 7 members in WayV: Ten and Lucas debuted first as members of NCT-U and they are also members of SuperM; Winwin first debuted as a member of NCT-127 and NCT-U, and Kun -- the leader of WayV -- originally debuted as part of NCT-2018; and Xiaojun, Hendery and Yanyang debuted specifically as members of WayV at the beginning of 2019 when WayV was formed. > Kun -- the one with the blue hair in "Bad Alive" and red hair in "Phantom" -- is the oldest who just turned 27. He is a lead vocalist. > Ten -- the guy with the solo dance break in "Bad Alive" and the one with the mullet hairstyle in "Phantom" -- is 26. He is Thai, but his grandparents are Chinese and he attended an international school in Thailand where they spoke English most of the time, so he is fluent in English. (He is the NCT member who is fluent in the most languages -- on top of being fluent in Thai, English, Korean and Mandarin, he is also learning Japanese); he is a main dancer -- one of the best dancers in the industry, on par with Kai from EXO and Taemin from SHINee, which is why he is one of the members of SuperM -- lead vocalist and a center of WayV. He is also the NCT member with the most solo songs. > WinWin -- the one with the deep voice who throws the knife at the heart in "Phantom" -- is 25 years old and he is a lead vocalist, lead dancer and sub-rapper. (He is trained in traditional Chinese dance and attended one of the most prestigious dance academies in China. He was also admitted to a very important dance program at University -- similar to the Chinese equivalent of Julliard.) > Lucas -- the tallest member -- is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, so his native language is Cantonese and he is almost 24; he is a lead rapper, vocalist and the visual of WayV. (However, as you may know, due to a dating scandal and other controversies, Lucas has been on hiatus for more than a year now, which is why he wasn't in their "Phantom" MV.) > Xiaojun -- the guy with the gray hair in "Phantom" -- is 23 and he is the main vocalist and the one with the high notes most of the time. > Hendery -- the one with the crazy eyes in "Phantom" -- is 23 and he is from Macau China, so he also speaks Cantonese; he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper. > Yangyang -- the one with the orange hair in "Bad Alive" and the blond in "Phantom" -- is the youngest at 22 years old. He is Taiwanese, but he lived in Germany for a while and attended an international school, so he is also fluent in English and proficient in German; he is the main rapper. The only reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other 3 NCT sub-units is because, at the time of their debut, there was a lot of political issues between Korea and China, and because of that Korean companies were not able to work in China. NCT's Chinese sub-unit has been going to debut for years, but with all the political issues it took SM Entertainment a long time to find a way to work around all the rules the Chinese government put in place to prevent its native Chinese citizens from working with anyone associated with Korea and preventing anyone who was working with a Korean company from working in China. So in order to circumvent some of China's restrictions, SM found/created a Chinese company that was willing to take on NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but also allow SM to have a say in the group's concept and promotion activities. Part of how they get around the rules is they gave the group a name that distances them from their Korean roots. (That is also why WayV's Chinese fans are called WayZenNi instead of NCTzens and why WayV has their own lightstick design that is different than NCT's, etc.) The company WayV is under is called Label V which is part of SM, but separate from the Korean branch of the company and it produces songs in Mandarin to keep the Chinese government happy. All the members of WayV also speak Mandarin and have some connection to Chinese heritage, but most of the members are not native mainland Chinese citizens, so this gives them some immunity from the Chinese government. But they are representing China and they are promoting Chinese culture, so the Chinese government kind of turned a blind eye to the fact that they are technically still under a Korean company, as long as they hid any connection to their Korean company while doing promotions in China. As you can see, not only do the WayV members speak Mandarin, Korean and English, but they are a very international group that speaks many languages. So, pretty much all of WayV's songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or their all English version of "Love Talk," or their English song "Miracle", or if you happen to pick the Korean version of some of their songs.) LOL Because WayV is the Chinese unit, but they are releasing music in Korea and promoting in Korea, not specifically in China, SM is more likely to produce their songs in English. Hence, why several of WayV's previous songs are English songs, because -- due to the pandemic, political issues, Lucas being on hiatus, etc. -- they aren't promoting as a group in China right now. I think it helps SM avoid any crossover issues with Korea that might make it more difficult for them to promote in China in the future. You should now check out the dance practice and a live performance for "Bad Alive," as well as one of WayV's live performances of "Phantom" because their songs and choreography are even better when you see and hear it live. (If you watch their "Phantom" MCountdown comeback stage, you will even get to hear the English version of the song.) As you know, SM Entertainment is known as the vocal powerhouse of the Kpop industry, which also happens to have some of the best dancers. And the company is known for the fact that when their artists perform live, they are even better than any of their studio recordings. So everyone always looks forward to their live performances. I think you will be even more impressed when you see WayV's live stages.

The voice that you liked in Phantom belongs to Kun who's the leader of the group I've heard Phantom for the first time during the SM online concert last weekend but the MV even from your small screen looked gorgeous - great use of color filters

I saw bad alive and I clicked so fast haha. So the one with the siluette (spelling) I believe that was ten. He’s the one you girls asked about. He was the one that had his shirt open the whole video. My bias is winwin he’s the one with the cute ears with the scarf thingy around his head. He’s my Wayv bias. And my nct wrecker my nct bias s jungwoo. So it worked out great that one of each was in a different subunit.

YES WAYV! They're my ults along with Monsta X and TXT! I'd definitely recommend checking out more of their songs, whether they're title tracks or B-Sides, they're so good! For starters, I'd recommend checking out songs like Take Off, Moonwalk, Turn Back Time, Love Talk or Action Figure or the Unhelpful Guide to WayV (2021) by Lao Gan Ma if you're interested! It's really well made and both informative and fun!

Thanks for reacting to WayV, they need all the love, they are really different and incredible standouts even in an industry full of talents. Maybe try Love Talk, Moonwalk, Take Off, Kick Back, Action Figure. Also Ten's solo career is truly incredible, he released Birthday not too long ago but New Heroes, Dream in a Dream (especially the dance practice), and Paint Me Naked are phenomenal. The Play V and Rainbow V series on the WayV channel are a great way to discover the guys too as those series are self produced material.

🥵🥵🥵 Tammy, I'm having New Year's Eve war flashbacks LMAO This was really cool. WayV in the past have gone relatively ignored before 'Phantom' by reactors but I feel many music fans are giving them a listen which is so nice. Even if one ends up not really feeling any of their songs or mvs, I'm just thrilled more people are at least giving checking them out. They're also really cute and funny... one might even say chaotic at times lmao Have not read any comments yet so I apologize if I'm repeating info already said 😬😬😬 So Ten is the dancing silhouette in Bad Alive (The one with his shirt open but I feel you'll be able to remember his name due to the "Baby don't stop" performance with Taeyong lol) and he had some high notes in Phantom but the long highnote was Xiaojun. So I have 3 biases in this group even though I really like all 6 of them a lot. Ten is my WayV ult but YangYang (The blonde rapper in Phantom and also the maknae) and Xiaojun who did the long note in Phantom... wait duh I just mentioned him lol Their older songs like "Take Off" is a good one and I already put in request forms for "Action Figure" and the "Miracles" (a song entirely in english) dance practice because the mv is the short version unfortunately. "Love Talk" is another really good one and dare I say, their most popular one arguably... (another song entirely in english). I love that you are getting to know WayV. This reminds me how much I love and miss Lucas, it is inevitable to mention it. I'm so glad Winwin was a part of the comeback and I think the guys have done a great job as always. They deserve a lot of support. This is their comeback after almost two years and they gave us a banger.. phantom 🔥 the bsides in the album 🔥🔥🔥 the song Regular is their debut song which is a song of NCT 127 but they did it in Chinese version. Then they have Take off, Moon walk, Love talk English version , Turn Back time, Kick back and action Figure. Welcome to NCT! 😊 💚 "There's a LOT of sounds happening in the instrumental" is a perfect summation of SM/NCT's production style. 😄 I believe I read a comment somewhere that the weird Star Trek kinda sound in 'Bad Alive' might be from a Theremin. 🤷‍♀️ A common theme with NCT's experimental style though is that it takes a listen or two to wrap your brain around a new song, but then it will become FIRMLY stuck in your head. Plus, every comeback will be something very different, yet somehow distinctly "NCT" at the same time. Also, 'Bad Alive' is a b-side, which is why the video production was more simplistic. The naked guy and the bridge high note guy are one in the same, as well as being the first guy you see in 'Phantom', fyi... his name is Ten, and if you want to experience just how impressive he is, watch the dance practice to his recent solo, called 'Birthday'. Or better yet, watch the mv immediately followed by the dance practice. While the mv is great, it's only a mere taste of the full choreography piece and Ten's PHENOMENAL execution of it. He is widely considered one of the best dancers in the industry, and this dp goes a step beyond proving it. The most basic, simplistic way to explain the NCT system is this; *NCT (Neo Culture Technology)* is an *unlimited* group under the SM Entertainment label. More members/units will be added eventually. For instance, on the immediate horizon is a new Japanese unit set to debut, probably in early 2023 (last unit to be added was WayV, in early 2019). Currently however, they have 23 members who are normally split into 3 *FIXED* member units *(NCT 127, NCT Dream & WayV),* where the member lineups typically do not change (nowadays)... and 1 *NON-FIXED* unit *(NCT U),* where any of the overall members can be on a track, just depending on who fits that particular concept best... think of this as the mix-n-match unit. Could be 2 members on one track and 9 on the next 🤷‍♀️, we never know until it drops. However, we normally only see this unit during special all-member album eras, of which there have been just 3 of, in the nearly 7 years they've been active. So I'm not sure if anyone commented (probably someone already has) but I just wanted to let you know that the one doing the dance and singing in the part you really liked in Bad Alive is Ten (major problem!!!!) and the one doing the high note in Phantom is Xiaojun (major problem number 2!!!). Loved the reaction, guys.
