Dr. Dre was never in a gang. In the mid '80s he was a member of the World Class Wreckin' Cru, which was a clean-cut electro hip-hop group that did breakdancing and record-scratching and wore sparkly suits. They have a banging song called Surgery, containing the line "calling Dr. Dre to surgery". That's where those photos come from, that's how Dr. Dre used to perform before Eazy-E convinced him to adopt a gangsta image to be in NWA. NWA were going to do "hard rap" or "reality rap", which is today called "gangsta rap". Eazy-E was actually in a gang, he was selling dope with Kelly Park Compton Crips and already had about $250,000 in his 20s from drug-dealing. He wanted something legitimate to invest the money into, so he started Ruthless Records and released solo material as well as NWA's albums. Dr. Dre and Eazy-E were in NWA together (1987-1991). Then Dr. Dre left NWA complaining that Eazy-E was ripping them off financially, because he owned the label. This caused NWA to collapse. In 1992 Dr. Dre teamed up with a then-unknown new rapper called Snoop Dogg, and released his debut album The Chronic. On a track on that album, Dre Day, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg dissed Eazy-E for ripping Dre off, and calls him Sleazy-E. So in 1993 Eazy-E responded to Dre Day with "Real Muthaphuckkin Gs", where he criticises Dr. Dre for being a phony who only pretends to be a gangsta to sell music. He takes a shot at Snoop Dogg for being too skinny to pretend to be a tough guy, but he doesn't have much to say about Snoop because no one even knew Snoop then. The feud extended to gangs because Dr. Dre's new label, Death Row, was headed by Suge Knight. Suge Knight was a Mob Piru Blood. So the Compton Crip sets thought Dre was not just a phony but a gang enemy. In the video for Real Muthaphuckkin G's, we see South Side Compton Crips, Nutty Blocc Compton Crips, and Kelly Park Compton Crips. The other two rappers are BG Knoccout and Gangsta Dresta, they are both still alive and were involved in all sorts of gang violence, rap feuds and have both been in prison. They were Nutty Blocc Compton Crips and they knew that Dr. Dre was never part of the gang scene in Compton, hence "Dre, you ain't from Compton".

@Yvanehtnioj2000 They also say Eazy wasn't exactly a crip either, just an associate. Either way, they both were heavily surrounded by the respective gangs, thrived in those gangs respective territories and were affiliated heavily with those gang members. I think it's safe to say that whether they were officially initiated or not, they were legitimate members.

In the N.W.A days (Eazy E, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, DJ Yella, and Ice Cube)...Cube went solo after the "Straight Outta Compton" album, N.W.A dissed him comparing him to Benedict Arnold amongst other things in a track called "Real N***az", Cube then retorted w/ a track called "No Vaseline", and then Dre went solo for the Chronic album that had a track called "Dre Day" which dissed E as well as Luke Campbell from 2 Live Crew...then E reacted with this track before all the beefs were squashed. I would suggest you to listen to 1988s Straight Outta Compton album then dive into more Dre/E/and Cube.😁😃😺😸 I think I have that all right? Hey Lilly. You should watch the movie straight outta Comptom. it tells the story of the group that both Dr. Dre and Eazy-E were part of along with Ice Cube and Yella. the film is very faithful to the events of the time, both police violence and other racial nonsense that occurred at the time, as well as the bullshit in the rap scene. Then I also recommend listening to the song "No Vaseline" by Ice Cube, which was a diss for both Eazy - And for the other members, if you see the film you will understand, I don't want to give too many spoilers. but it was the best diss of all time in my opinion! :) Congratulations on the channel, if there are writing errors, please ignore them. This is his response to "Dre Day" the second track on Dr Dre's first solo album The Chronic, which is an Easy E hit song. Dre and Snoop made a video for that song, and this entire track and video is based off that. I believe Eazy E even used the same actor with the Jerry curls. Supposedly Snoop was a drama school yuppy kid, and Dre made his video in a studio with actors. Eazy went out to the real crips on the streets, got talent to back him up, and they went out and shot in the REAL hood, with million dollar equipment. Not a thang to Eazy. The REAL MFin G

Every person in this video was a Compton Crips, no actors were hired to make this video the background people were all gangsters from Compton.. The other 2 rappers are Dresta and BG Knocc Out, they're brothers and real OG Compton Crips.

When Eazy released Dre out of his his ruthless contract, Eazy had it sent up so he received a percentage of any album Dre produced for Death Row, in turn Eazy allowed Michel'le Doc and Dre leave ruthless records. Before Dre joined Nwa he was in a group called World Class wrecking cru. DJ Yella was also in the group. They were slightly influenced by Prince and wore flamboyant outfits and did techopop rnb. Those pics of Dre was from the actual album World Class Wrecking Cru album cover. NWA's official 1st single was a song called Panic zone when it was just Dr Dre, Arabian Prince, and krazy dee and it was highly influenced by the sound of the mid 80's. it was a tremendous flop, so they repackage NWA by adding Ren, Cube, and unofficially the D.O.C. and took on a more explicit element. If you look at the Straight Outta Compton Album cover it has it's original members included.

I believe it's the nwa and the posse album cover you're referring too.

Brother Arab Arabian Prince, Dre, Yella, Ren, Cube, and Eazy were all on the Straight Outta Compton Cd cover, only Krazy D was excluded, Nwa and the Posse album cover included Members of Cubes crew CIA SirJinx, and Jay Dee, and members of the Doc's crew known af The Fila Fresh Crew, plus Ron De Vu. Nwa in the posse album was recorded before Straight Outta Compton and Eazy Duz it but was released after both, because it's lead single panic zone failed to get mainstream attention.
