Hey, Kira! I've been looking forward to seeing you react to some of the heavier genres of metal, and I think some more thrash metal would be a great gateway to them. I'd recommend Megadeth, Anthrax, and some more Metallica or Motorhead(which isn't actually thrash metal, but is still fast, and heavier than most Heavy Metal, or NWOBHM, which is Iron Maidens genre if you were curious) Keep up the good work!
@@zakkahouache2919 thank you Zak ! I've got a Megadeth video coming in the next few weeks, really excited to delve into more thrash.. which is taking me on a journey to more extreme metal slowly
@@kirawasareactor nice! I'll be here if you need more recommendations for metal, nowadays I listen to Black Metal which is waaaaaaaaay out of your comfort zone.
Bruce can also sound more "deranged", specially in the not-so-well-liked albums No Prayer For The Dying and Fear of the Dark. Check specially the song Be Quick or Be Dead. Also I'm 100% sure you're gonna love Aces High from the Powerslave album.
You definitely should react to “Killers”, especially if you like Paul’s voice. For me it is the second best Iron Maiden song with him on the vocals (after Phantom of the Opera, of course)
Those are my two favorites as well. Plus the album Killers has the best production. Paul's voice is showcased better there. (sounds good in the first album but has a lot more presence on killers)
I think you'll like Bruce Dickinson's solo material too! * Darkside of Aquarius - My favorite song. Not just of Bruce, of anyone. * Navigate the Seas of the Sun - Different from other stuff he's done before or since. Even people who don't listen to metal have liked this one. * Book of Thel - A dark fairy tale, and a solid song. * Tears of the Dragon, live with Tribuzy - One of his best vocal performances, tons of emotion in it.
Awesome song recommendations! Darkside is easily up there with Hallowed, Trooper, Powerslave etc. I think the Chemical Wedding could easily be a full album reaction, there's not a bad song there, and Accident of Birth isn't too far behind either.
In fact he wanted to play drums (to "lead" the band), but he didn't have enough space, so he picked the bass because, you know it's in the base of the music
The wasted years you listened was the studio version... Very polished. Bruce's voice comes into its own when he's performing LIVE..... Any maiden fan will tell you that !!
From Paul Dianno era: Prowler and Running Free! If you like longer songs you'll love Rime of the Ancient Mariner! ...Also Fear of the Dark is a must (live in Rock in Rio is a good one)
@@deathsquadrec yes, both albums are great! I recommended Prowler because it's one of my favourite Maiden songs from any era. Running Free is also top 20 (so many good songs!) and live is a lot of fun.
@@freddyfleal I love Prowler. Reason I got my first (and only) wah pedal was to play the leads on Prowler. And me and some friends used to play Phantom of the Opera in our practice set.
The first two albums are classics, I remember listening to the first album with my first cousin back in 1980, we were blown away and knew that Maiden were something special, all these years later and I'm still listening. Keep up the good work thank you for your reaction videos.
I'd recommend flash of the blade, seventh son of a seventh son, and Alexander the great. Great reaction. I'm glad you're coming around to Bruce's voice
Bruce does a VERY good job singing Paul's songs live. Not only with Wrathchild and Phantom of the Opera, but other classics too, like Running Free and Iron Maiden. I'd highly recommend you check those out, Kira.
The irony is that Iron Maiden aren't super strict about audio. A fair number of reactors pause their songs maybe once or twice and can still get the video out. The music video reactions are even easy. Caution doesn't always help a ton.
phantom of the opera and wasted years are both in my top 10 maiden songs!! someone who has listened to al 16 albums here PS: wasted years is an example of a radio friendly metal song done PERFECTLY
Something totally different from Iron Maiden is a song called Strange World from the first album. It shows just how great a singer that Paul DiAnno is.
"Killers" was the first album I ever bought, mainly to scare my mother with the cover (remember vinyl? the covers were really big back then). Still have and treasure it, even though it's rather tatty now. The first notes of "The Ides of March" ringing out was quite a revelation. I still maintain that it is perfectly ok to like Paul and Bruce equally. They're not wives and have no business being jealous.
I grew up with Bruce Dickinson Iron Maiden but stopped listening to them when the "Somewhere in time" album came out in 1986, (I was 13), then years later I listened to the first two albums with Paul Dianno and now I really appreciate him as a singer.
No disrespect to Bruce at all, he's a great singer it's just I'd gotten into thrash and crossover by then and I was already a fan of punk and Motorhead, so Bruce's style didn't gel with me.
You should listen to Slayer next they're very influential for alot of artist in the more "extreme" metal sub-genres Chemical warfare, Seasons in the Abyss, Angle of death, are good picks, then if you like those it will be easy getting into Death metal and other sub-genres or just heavier bands in general.
Fast songs: Iron Maiden - Be Quick Or Be Dead (Official Video) Iron Maiden - Aces High (Official Video) Iron Maiden - 2 Minutes To Midnight (Official Video) Iron Maiden - Ghost Of The Navigator (Rock in Rio) - [Subtitle - English] kinda wholesome songs: Iron Maiden - The Clansman - Legendado & Blaze Bayley falando sobre a música Iron Maiden - Rock In Rio III - Blood Brothers sad but energetic war song: Iron Maiden - Paschendale random fun stuff: Dream Mirrors Iron Maiden Rock In Rio The Talisman (2015 Remaster) Infinite Dreams (2015 Remaster) Moonchild (2015 Remaster) The Prophecy (2015 Remaster) Iron Maiden - Dance Of Death - En Vivo! Iron Maiden - Flight Of Icarus (Official Video) Long ass poem: Iron Maiden - Rime of the Ancient Mariner [Flight 666 DVD] HD Some recent stuff : If Eternity Should Fail
Looking back, I think it was probably Wrathchild that was the song that sealed the deal for me and I became a true Maiden fan. Since then, they've repaid my devotion a hundred fold; they never fail to impress.
the fact that Wasted Years is my favorite Iron Maiden song really exposes me and my 'I-was-never-the-biggest-metal-fan'-iness. I've always gotten some pop ballad vibes from that song in the best possible way. Probably the reason why I like it so much.
I’m definitely a Metal fan, and that’s one of my favorite Maiden songs. It’s one of the few songs that makes me positive and hopeful about life, specially for the lyrics and the melody
I'd recommend some Blaze Bayley tracks now. Blaze Bayley's albums are underrated af, they get hate just because "it's not Bruce wah" but ye, love his vocals on the Maiden albums and also his solo work since
Love your reaction. Your energy is soooo infectious. I’ll get into some trouble for this but I prefer Pauls style and delivery over Bruce. Just for me. Iron Maiden and killers are my two fav IM albums.
Paul Di'Anno was essential to establishing Iron Maiden in the late 70's/early 80's... he had a bluesy voice that gave Maiden a punk rock edge, mixed w/ heavy metal music. He also had a stage presence that made them a huge draw in the UK clubs for years before they got signed in late 1979. Unfortunately, as Iron Maiden's touring schedule kept growing by 1981, the demands of the road wore Paul Di'Anno out, and he turned to booze, drugs & smoking to handle the stress. By the fall of '81, Maiden was forced to cancel shows because of his health... A mutual decision was made for Di'Anno to leave the band (Di'Anno said he had no regrets about leaving Maiden...) Maiden had played shows w/ the band Samson, which was fronted by Bruce Dickinson (who went by the name 'Bruce Bruce') and they offered the gig to Dickinson after a Samson set at a UK festival. Dickinson had seen Maiden in concert and wanted to join the band... the transition wasn't smooth - him & bassist Steve Harris were both alpha males and clashed early on about who would be front & center of Iron Maiden.
Someone might have mentioned below, but too many comments to check. :-) The album cover you liked, the Killers one, has a version with Margaret Thatcher that did not live long (the cover, not her, but...). Google it. :-D
It’s always nice to find someone else who likes Paul’s Maiden! The first album really doesn’t have a bad track on it, IMO... Phantom of the Opera will always (for me) have a link with the 1985 Lucozade advert featuring Daley Thompson (British decathlete, 2 Olympic golds) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fj87n_dEwRU.html
Cmon y’all. Bruce is next level. Instrumentally those first 2 albums are untouchable but Paul was and is a loose cannon who declined quickly. Bruce is top shelf. Better vocalist. Better showman. Better writer. Dianno had his part in 2 of the best metal albums in history but he is a shooting star.
Your reactions are very entertaining. If you get a chance in your own time, watch "wasted years" official video. its a series of clips from all of their previous touring, and all the different incarnations of Eddie. really cool. If you get a chance a couple of songs that dont get a lot of react time...and should, off the piece of mind album... "Still Life" truly dark and disturbing :) and "To Tame a Land" are both really good. "Alexander the Great" from somewhere in time is a master piece of diction from Bruce and educational :)
iron maiden, killersm piece of mind, powerslave, somewhere in time and 7th son are peerless albums. the live album Live After Death is something you should do an entire album listen to...
Yeah, Wasted Years is a _very_ commercial song. Iron Maiden *especially* shine with their longer songs like When The Wild Wind Blows, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, The Talisman, Empire of the Clouds, Book of Souls and the ever-legendary Rime of the Ancient Mariner! For entire albums, you can honestly choose any of the 80s Bruce-era albums or Brave New World (released in 2000)
What a cool review kirawasareactor, i remember buying this album on cassette and playing it to death on my walkmen, have been a BIG maiden since then, keep up the good work with your channel and check out The Talisman live on there EN VIVO dvd ,Bruce at his very best, stay safe
There are so many great Maiden songs that it's hard to pick even a handful of the "best" ones. And all of their first five albums are fantastic, so I can't even recommend one particular one. I'm very fond of Powerslave because it was my introduction to the band, but I think every fan will have a soft spot for the first Maiden album they heard. The albums Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son sound a little more commercial to my ear (there was a review of Seventh Son in Metal Hammer in 1988 that said "where have all the bollocks gone?"), but those two were followed by No Prayer for the Dying and Fear of the Dark, which are both excellent.
Their best album! Was 14-15, bought this album... instant hooked! Then i bought Killers (lol i have a pic of me sitting in the sofa with a Killers t-shirt looking so pissed and like Geezer Butlers son, giving a finger). I like the voice too, the album is more pure metal than the rest. Weird as it may sound, around 1980 i went to see KISS, guess who was the foreband :) Though you missed Transylvania! Charlotte the harlot! Strange dreams
For an awesome journey-like taste of something off their latest album Book of Souls, try the song "The Red and the Black" from the Souls Tour. Awesome video and awesome song.
If you do some more live Maiden performances, literally ANYTHING off of their Flight 666 Live DVD is golden. But I would personally recommend "Revelations" from that DVD if you really want to hear Bruce sing, it's all here on RU-vid.
From Dianno, Prowler, Murders in the rue morgue and Purgatory. It's fire. From Bruce, 22 Acacia avenue, Dejavu, Sea of madness and The evil that man do.
if you want to hear yet another singer in maiden I really suggest you "Lord of the Flies" with Blaze Bailey on the vocals its a really good song! more good songs with him is "2AM" and "Fortunes of war" ALSO: if you LOVE long songs, may I suggest you the 2 longest maiden songs? "The Rime of the ancient mariner" (13min) and "Empire of the clouds" (18min)
first Paul D'ianno is ridiculously underrated as a singer. this was super cool you got two of my favorite songs "wrathchild" and "wasted years" if you do more IRON MAIDEN I'd love to see you react to "the number of the beast" and "flight of icarus"
the number of the beast i reacted to on my other channel last year @kirawasadiver flight of icarus i would like to do in my nex t maiden video hopefully!
@@kirawasareactor very cool I'll look that one up. to be honest back in the day Bruce's voice had to grow on me too but their songs are just great well crafted METAL
