This is the recording with Freddie & David Bowie sharing lead vocals. Queen & Bowie wrote the song, Vanilla Ice used John's baseline without credit. The story goes that Freddie was having breakfast and heard Ice Ice on the radio. He laughed, finished his meal then called his manager who was already in touch with lawyers. Ice Ice Baby has since been credited to seven writers: Van Winkle & Johnson PLUS the four members of Queen and David Bowie. Queen regularly performed it live with Freddie singing lead and Roger filling in on backup.

Queens bass guitarist John Deacon and the band were not impressed with Vanilla Ice, and decided to sue ice for stealing their rift,Vanilla Ice settled out of court for the estimated sum of four million dollars, at today’s value would be over 11 million dollars, checkout Queen at Wembley Stadium 1986 singing ( Under pressure) a phenomenal live performance, Freddie Mercury had the crowd in the palm of his hand, great reaction thanks 🙏

Queen and David Bowie wrote and recorded Under Pressure during a jam session in 1981 at Queen's recording studio in Montreux, Switzerland (David Bowie owned a home nearby). Vanilla Ice was an unknown rapper in 1989. In fact, rap was a relatively unknown form of music. He stole the bass rift from Queen's and David Bowie's song Under Pressure. When confronted by the lawyers from Queen and David Bowie, he tried to claim that it wasn't the same since he added one additional note to the rift. They settle out of court. Since Ice had included the rift (without permission), Queen and David Bowie actually were part owners of the song. Vanilla Ice had to pay around $4 million to Queen and David Bowie so they would release their share and allow Vanilla Ice sole ownership of his song Ice Ice Baby. Plus, he agreed to credit Queen and David Bowie as composers of the song.

Ice stole and queen and David Bowie sued and won. Great song which came out of a drunk jam session
