Interesting design, kinda like a walker, I'm use to like a scag walk behind, let the handles out it goes, pull the right it automatically does a zero turn. That ferris design is definitely something to get use to and seems like a lot of work, definitely a lot going on. 😂

I bought a set of Jungle wheels to adapt to my DR field mower. The factory set up took to much weight from the drives. I plan on solving the problem by moving the wheels on the sled back about half way. Wish me luck. Great and funny video

Little behind on the video but good video. I myself went with a walk behind for a few reasons. when i did this years ago the zero turn couldnt do hills good and or wet grass. 800 lbs plus is alot for 4 tires. I wanted a lighter machine with no operator weight so I can hit yards when others cant. Also 36 inch deck so i can fit gates and then in the future get the 52 in stand on.

Toro's T-bar handles are much more intuitive and easier to master than this system on Ferris. Although this seems to be few years old and the video was shot 3 years ago, so I guess Ferris improved their system.

Sulkies aren't as easy as it looks til you get some practice time in. First time on a zero turn I ran into a car. It was in a crowded driveway and the guy who owned it and was selling it just asumed I'd driven one before I guess and tossed me the key and said try it out. It was a little Gravely 34Z. Very nimble and very fast machine. 10mph tops if I recall. 10mph is nothing right? Til you get on a ztr for the first time in a gravel driveway with vehicle parked close together. Woohooooo! lol Good times. No damage to car or mower and I said I'll take it!

@arbhorrent
@arbhorrent 15 дней назад
@@jrblandscapingandsnowplowi4935 I want to like ZTRs but I just can't. Heavier (they absolutely destroy property edges where we're based out of), can't crouch on them to dodge tree branches, not as much visibility, and the bouncing kills my back. Even on very large properties I'd go for a 72" stander. I do love that the deck lift on them is a foot pedal, and they're better if you need to bag. My knees are in good shape but my lower back isn't the best, so standing - walking for 8+ hours is easier than sitting - walking for me

Is the Ferris 48" so light in the front as you showed when taking it out of the shop? I was surprised to see front casters off the ground without much effort. One comment on ground drive speed control - the bar across the front of the dashboard. It may be better explained as that sets the MAXIMUM speed of the ground drive forward. When demonstrated here, the bar was pushed fully forward, with the explanation of pulling back on each handle control to slow it from the maximum ground speed. Certainly, when learning, the last thing one wants to do is to set it for maximum ground speed forward, rather set it back at half position, or less, to start, them move it forward or backward depending upon the common speed needed for the mowing operation.

@@lawnmowing8143 Thanks. I am surprised it is that light on the front. I have an Ex 36, and it is very light on the front - too light. @lawnmowing8143
@lawnmowing8143 5 лет назад
@@rightsideofthegrass8114 You can always add a weight kit. Even tho it's front end is light it is still easy to control and can be useful at times (when loading and unloading from trailer, going over obstacles, etc.). The height control is infinite and with a handle that you crank up and down. No playing around with the casters and spacers.
